Santiago de Cuba desde su fundación logró establecer fluidas relaciones con el exterior y el resto de la Isla a través de su puerto como vía de comunicación más efectiva. The Global Electroweak and Higgs Fits in the LHC era

We update the global fit to electroweak precision observables, including the effect of the latest measurements at hadron colliders of the $W$ and top-quark masses and the effective leptonic weak mixing angle. We comment on the impact of these measurements in terms of constraints on new physics. We also update the bounds derived from the fit to the Higgs-boson signal strengths, including the observables measured at the LHC Run 2, and compare the improvements with respect to the 7 and 8 TeV results.Comment: 5+1 pages, 3 figures, 2 tables. RB loss contributes to aggressive tumor phenotypes in MYC-driven triple negative breast cancer

Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is characterized by multiple genetic events occurring in concert to drive pathogenic features of the disease. Here we interrogated the coordinate impact of p53, RB, and MYC in a genetic model of TNBC, in parallel with the analysis of clinical specimens. Primary mouse mammary epithelial cells (mMEC) with defined genetic features were used to delineate the combined action of RB and/or p53 in the genesis of TNBC. In this context, the deletion of either RB or p53 alone and in combination increased the proliferation of mMEC; however, the cells did not have the capacity to invade in matrigel. Gene expression profiling revealed that loss of each tumor suppressor has effects related to proliferation, but RB loss in particular leads to alterations in gene expression associated with the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition. The overexpression of MYC in combination with p53 loss or combined RB/p53 loss drove rapid cell growth. While the effects of MYC overexpression had a dominant impact on gene expression, loss of RB further enhanced the deregulation of a gene expression signature associated with invasion. Specific RB loss lead to enhanced invasion in boyden chambers assays and gave rise to tumors with minimal epithelial characteristics relative to RB-proficient models. Therapeutic screening revealed that RB-deficient cells were particularly resistant to agents targeting PI3K and MEK pathway. Consistent with the aggressive behavior of the preclinical models of MYC overexpression and RB loss, human TNBC tumors that express high levels of MYC and are devoid of RB have a particularly poor outcome. Together these results underscore the potency of tumor suppressor pathways in specifying the biology of breast cancer. Further, they demonstrate that MYC overexpression in concert with RB can promote a particularly aggressive form of TNB

Reflexiones sobre los procesos de integración y las relaciones laborales en América Latina

The processes of regional integration in Latin America have focused until now on free trade agreements, passively adapting to the economic interests of globalization led by transnational companies, but have been unable to solve the problems of poverty, inequality, unemployment and the lack of labor and social rights suffered by a large part of the population. This article, presenting the framework of the monograph, analyses the new scenario developed in the region in recent years, and the possibilities it opens up for a wider and more balanced process of integration, with special reference to recent summits and the role that the social partners and social dialogue can play in the improvement of the labor and social conditions of the peoples sof Latin America.Los procesos de integración regional en América Latina se han centrado fundamentalmente en acuerdos de libre comercio, adaptándose pasivamente a los intereses de las empresas trasnacionales que lideran la globalización, pero han sido incapaces de resolver los problemas de pobreza, desigualdad, desempleo y falta de derechos laborales y sociales que afectan a una parte importante de la población.
