A stemming algorithm for Latvian
The thesis covers construction, application and evaluation of a stemming algorithm for
advanced information searching and retrieval in Latvian databases. Its aim is to examine
the following two questions:
Is it possible to apply for Latvian a suffix removal algorithm originally designed
for English?
Can stemming in Latvian produce the same or better information retrieval results
than manual truncation?
In order to achieve these aims, the role and importance of automatic word conflation
both for document indexing and information retrieval are characterised. A review of
literature, which analyzes and evaluates different types of stemming techniques and
retrospective development of stemming algorithms, justifies the necessity to apply this
advanced IR method also for Latvian. Comparative analysis of morphological structure
both for English and Latvian language determined the selection of Porter's suffix
removal algorithm as a basis for the Latvian sternmer.
An extensive list of Latvian stopwords including conjunctions, particles and adverbs,
was designed and added to the initial sternmer in order to eliminate insignificant words
from further processing. A number of specific modifications and changes related to the
Latvian language were carried out to the structure and rules of the original stemming
algorithm.
Analysis of word stemming based on Latvian electronic dictionary and Latvian text
fragments confirmed that the suffix removal technique can be successfully applied also
to Latvian language. An evaluation study of user search statements revealed that the
stemming algorithm to a certain extent can improve effectiveness of information
retrieval

THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF GREEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT: A STUDY OF LATVIA\u27S EXPERIENCE FOR UKRAINE’S POST-WAR RECOVERY
The purpose of the study is to substantiate the theoretical and methodological provisions and develop practical recommendations for the development of green entrepreneurship for the post-war recovery of Ukraine based on the experience of Latvia. The scientific novelty of the study lies in solving an important scientific and applied task - further development of theoretical aspects of green entrepreneurship, substantiation of the relationship between eco-innovation, green growth strategies and environmental policy in the context of sustainable development. The study uses general scientific and special methods: scientific abstraction, deduction, analysis and synthesis, systemic and critical analysis, structural and logical, ascent from the abstract to the concrete, and statistical analysis. It is proved that the Latvian business ecosystem is adapted for highly efficient investments and innovations in the field of green technologies. The study identified guidelines for environmental policy that will promote the development of green entrepreneurship, increase the density of green infrastructure, extend the life cycle of high value-added products manufactured in the country, reduce waste and encourage recycling. The importance of studying the experience of Latvia in strengthening the strategic framework for sustainable development and green growth for the post-war recovery of Ukraine is substantiated. It is determined that improving the quality of environmental infrastructure and services, as well as investing in innovation potential, will ensure the decoupling of economic growth from resource use and environmental depletion and accelerate the transition to a closed-loop economy. The authors propose the components of a «green» post-war recovery of Ukraine in the context of its further European integration
The effectiveness of psychosocial interventions for anxiety in children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder:a systematic review and meta-analysis
Anxiety is a common problem in children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This meta-analysis aimed to systematically evaluate the evidence for the use of psychosocial interventions to manage anxiety in this population. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) was the primary intervention modality studied. A comprehensive systematic search and study selection process was conducted. Separate statistical analyses were carried out for clinician-, parent-, and self-reported outcome measures. Sensitivity analyses were conducted by removing any outlying studies and any studies that did not use a CBT intervention. A subgroup analysis was performed to compare individual and group delivery of treatment. Ten randomised control trials involving a total of 470 participants were included. The overall SMD was d = 1.05 (95 % CI 0.45, 1.65; z = 3.45, p = 0.0006) for clinician- reported outcome measures; d = 1.00 (95%CI 0.21, 1.80; z = 2.47, p = 0.01) for parent-reported outcome measures; and d = 0.65 (95%CI -0.10, 1.07; z = 1.63, p = 0.10) for self-reported outcome measures. Clinician- and parent-reported outcome measures showed that psychosocial interventions were superior to waitlist and treatment-as-usual control conditions at post-treatment. However, the results of self-reported outcome measures failed to reach significance. The sensitivity analyses did not significantly change these results and the subgroup analysis indicated that individual treatment was more effective than group treatment. The main limitations of this review were the small number of included studies as well as the clinical and methodological variability between studies
Protocol for a systematic review: Interventions for anxiety in school-aged children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD): a mixed methods systematic review
This review aims to synthesise evidence about interventions to reduce anxiety symptoms in school-aged children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). While clinical studies will not be excluded per se, this review seeks to move beyond interventions that are relevant only for clinical practice and care in clinical settings and prioritise studies that draw out implications for school-aged children that will help their functioning in real-world settings such as school and the home. To achieve this aim, the review will employ a mixed-methods systematic review which can accommodate the anticipated diverse types of available studies. These studies are likely to use quantitative methods such as quasi-experimental, mixed-methods randomised control trial approaches as well as qualitative methods such as action-research and case-study designs. This publication outlines the methodology which will be used in the systematic review and covers the criteria for inclusion and exclusion of studies in the review, the search strategy to be used for identification of relevant studies, the bibliographic databases and other sources used for searching, the data collection process including the selection process and data synthesis and analysis, and the timeframe for this project
