Conflicts among lesbian representations in Hungary
In this study I examine dominant representations of lesbians and lesbian self-representations on identity and community in Hungary. I situate my study within the current political-economic transition, which provides the temporal scope of this project. I argue that the breakdown of state-socialism in Hungary offered opportunity for the establishment of civil society and the introduction of gay and feminist civil organizations. I consider gay and feminist organizations as subaltern counterpublics that provide space for lesbians to enter and account for the emergence and circulation of lesbian representations.
I explore how the Hungarian popular media depicts lesbians. I focus on the representational practices of the media texts, and I argue that Hungarian media constructs lesbianism in an ambivalent way. The journalistic representations give occasional visibility to lesbians, however, they restrict lesbian's voices, produce and reproduce stereotypical images about lesbians. The framing of the texts explicitly or implicitly mobilize dominant discourses on lesbianism, they thus reinscribe lesbianism into mainstream discourses.
Lesbian self-representations overlap and at times conflict with dominant representations of lesbians. In my empirical study, I investigate how lesbians represent and construct their identities in coming-out narratives. I show that the women interviewed present their identity as original, continuous, and totalizing. The adherence to essentialism makes coming out possible in a context which denies to recognize lesbian difference. Lesbian self-representations reproduce dominant representations of lesbians by laying claim to essentialist conceptions of identity, but they also contest mainstream representations by pointing out the social conditions of the construction of lesbian identity.
I also show how lesbians represent and construct their communities in their narratives. I argue that lesbians search for communities that are predicated on their shared sexual and gender identity and on their common experience of heterosexist and patriarchal oppression. However, I also point out that lesbian communities are multiple and fragmented social arenas which are constituted by differences and conflicts among lesbians. The inquiry of lesbian communities interrogates dominant representations by articulating lesbian political participation and questions lesbian self-representations of identity by reflecting on the differences among lesbian identities
Mixed perturbative expansion: the validity of a model for the cascading
A new type of perturbative expansion is built in order to give a rigorous
derivation and to clarify the range of validity of some commonly used model
equations.
This model describes the evolution of the modulation of two short and
localized pulses, fundamental and second harmonic, propagating together in a
bulk uniaxial crystal with non-vanishing second order susceptibility
and interacting through the nonlinear effect known as ``cascading'' in
nonlinear optics.
The perturbative method mixes a multi-scale expansion with a power series
expansion of the susceptibility, and must be carefully adapted to the physical
situation. It allows the determination of the physical conditions under which
the model is valid: the order of magnitude of the walk-off, phase-mismatch,and
anisotropy must have determined values.Comment: arxiv version is already officia
Modulation Instability of Ultrashort Pulses in Quadratic Nonlinear Media beyond the Slowly Varying Envelope Approximation
We report a modulational instability (MI) analysis of a mathematical model
appropriate for ultrashort pulses in cascaded quadratic-cubic nonlinear media
beyond the so-called slowly varying envelope approximation. Theoretically
predicted MI properties are found to be in good agreement with numerical
simulation. The study shows the possibility of controlling the generation of MI
and formation of solitons in a cascaded quadratic-cubic media in the few cycle
regimes. We also find that stable propagation of soliton-like few-cycle pulses
in the medium is subject to the fulfilment of the modulation instability
criteria

Bachelor thesis deals with pneumatic rodless actuators. In the opening part of the thesis there are basic information, distribution and field of application of the pneumatic actuators. Work is mainly focused on three basic types of rodless actuators. Construction, function and its properties are described in detail for each type of actuator. In this work there are examples of possible applications supplemented by appropriate images. The thesis describes the design of rodless actuator for a particular case of the sorting at belt conveyor. In the conclusion there is an analysis of individual computing software dealing with this issue.338 - Katedra hydromechaniky a hydraulických zařízenívýborn

Smart city és a blockchain: buzzword vagy paradigmaváltás? = Smart city and blockchain: buzzword or paradigm shift?
The McKinsey Global Institute estimates that by 2025 cities will account for 60% of global GDP, and the number of smart cities will reach 600 by 2020. In addition, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC), more than 60% of global GDP will be generated as digital income by 2022, resulting in a redesign of existing business and administrative models. As a result, within 5 years we will also see completely new technological advances at the municipal
level that can greatly enhance our ‘user experience’. We will be able to obtain services also at the
municipal level that simplify and facilitate our everyday urban life. This process will be largely
supported by the blockchain technology. Blockchain technology will have a significant impact on our city lives, economic life will undergo a paradigm shift and many local ecosystems will change for the better as it can provide free access to values and capital in a digital, secure and traceable way. In the future, for example, a Smart City will be able to raise new funds for its development through asset tokenisation. This study explains what makes blockchain technology cutting edge and what development ideas for smart cities can arise from it
