Graph-Based Classification of Omnidirectional Images
Omnidirectional cameras are widely used in such areas as robotics and virtual
reality as they provide a wide field of view. Their images are often processed
with classical methods, which might unfortunately lead to non-optimal solutions
as these methods are designed for planar images that have different geometrical
properties than omnidirectional ones. In this paper we study image
classification task by taking into account the specific geometry of
omnidirectional cameras with graph-based representations. In particular, we
extend deep learning architectures to data on graphs; we propose a principled
way of graph construction such that convolutional filters respond similarly for
the same pattern on different positions of the image regardless of lens
distortions. Our experiments show that the proposed method outperforms current
techniques for the omnidirectional image classification problem
Level of circulating cytokines and microelements in patients with hemorrhagic fever accompanied by renal syndrome
The research goal is to examine the interrelation of cytokines level (INF-y, TNF-a, IL-2, IL-4, IL-10) and concentration of microelements in blood of patients with hemorrhagic fever accompanied by renal syndrome. 292 patients aged 18-59 years have been examined.Enzyme immunodetection has been carried out by using reagents from «Vector-Best» (Novosibirsk). The content of microelements in blood plasma has been estimated by mass spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma (ICP-MS; Elan-9000, PerkinElmer, USA) and atomic emission spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma (ICP-OES; Optima-2000 DV, PerkinElmer, USA). A direct correlation between zinc, selenium, the level of IL-2 and lead, aluminum, the level of TNF-a has been found out. Is the effect of exchange rate volatility on trade more pronounced in Latin America than in Asia?
This paper empirically investigates the impact of exchange rate volatility on East and Southeast Asian and Latin American exports from 1980 to 2004 by using a gravity model and panel data. The results show that exchange rate volatility negatively affects exports in both continents. However, the impact of exchange rate volatility is more pronounced in Latin America than in Asia for the whole sample period 1980-2004 and in the sub-period 1980-1996, but not in the sub-period 1997-2004. Moreover, the results also show that countries with relatively high tariffs are less vulnerable to exchange rate volatility than open economies. Finally, evidence reveals that exports from high-income countries are less affected by exchange rate volatility
Periodontal Status of Postmenopausal Women
The objective of this study was to compare the periodontal status in postmenopausal women with osteopenia and osteoporosis.
Material and Methods: We examined 43 postmenopausal women aged from 55 to 74 years. Material assessment of bones in every patient was performed by means of dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) from two points on the skeleton – part of the femur neck and between the first and fourth lumbar vertebrae. A lipid blood test was done for patients of both groups. All patients were divided into two groups (the 1st with osteopenia, and the 2nd with osteoporosis). All patients were subjected to an oral clinical examination: the periodontal examination was composed of Plaque Index (PI), Pocket Score (PS), and Papillary Bleeding Index (PBI). X-ray analysis was performed for every patient.
Results: The results of the clinical periodontal examination demonstrated that the mean PBI in patients in the 1st group had no significant differences from the PBI in patients in the 2nd group. PI value and PS findings in patients with general osteoporosis also had no statistical differences from the same parameters in patients with osteopenia.
Conclusion: Under the circumstances of these patients’ characteristics and within the limits of the present study, we concluded that there is no significant difference in the periodontal status of postmenopausal women with systemic osteopenia and with osteoporosis
