Stock Market Reactions to the Announcements and Executions of Stock-Splits and Reverse Stock-Split
The aim of this paper is to analyze the stock market investors reactions to the events of announcement and execution of stock-splits and reverse stock-splits carried out on Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) during the period 2004-2012. The study puts the emphasis on the differences between market reactions to standard stock-splits and reverse stock-splits. The results presented in this paper are based on the methodology of event study. The studied data sample consists of 45instances of stock-splits and 6 instances of reverse stock-splits that took place on WSE in the specified period of time. Results obtained suggest no statistically significant reaction to the events of: split announcement, split execution and reverse split execution and a statistically significant (mostly negative) reaction to the event of reverse split announcement. Although some anomalies can be observed on close inspection of the data, in general the obtained results can be interpreted as evidence of investors' rationality withregards to events connected with stock-splits on

Shaping the Identity of a Mother in Case of a Women Who Experience an Unplanned Motherhood
Recent years show a noticeable increase in the number of systematic scientific studies about motherhood. Mostly, the birth of a child is depicted as a groundbreaking event, carefully planned in the biography of a woman. The future mother has many doubts, usually feels joy and satisfaction of the “blessed state”. Still very few publications touch the issue of women experiencing unwanted motherhood. In widely available articles about family, unplanned pregnancy theme is limited. Mostly apply to youngsters. This
phenomenon, regardless of age, is a critical event in a woman's life. It should therefore become a research exploration area of educators and representatives of related disciplines. The article attempts to depict the situation of mothers facing unplanned parenthood. Heroines present experiences related to pregnancy, birth and childcare. Fragments of their biographies show both their concerns and moments full of joy and pride.1951186Kultura-Społeczeństwo-Edukacj

Żeby było normalnie. W jaki sposób początek opowieści o trzydziestoleciu literatury najnowszej wyznacza jej koniec
In this article, Marta Koronkiewicz discusses the category and concept of normality as central to the literary-critical discourses of the 1990s and the early 2000s. She documents the functions and meanings of this concept while presenting it in a broader socio-political perspective by regarding it as crucial for the transformation of the whole area of Central and Eastern Europe (Alexander Kiossev, Magda Szcześniak, Ivan Krastew–Stephen Holmes). The article focuses on the specificity of the concept itself, which seems to be devoid of concrete content and which denotes a desire or an expectation rather a desired or an expected object. Understood in this way, the category of normality can be used to extinguish discussions and to create false agreements. Koronkiewicz examines the consequence of the popularity of this category for the narrative about the most recent literature. She shows that, in the history of Polish literary criticism after 1989, normality initially took on the function of a general term used to describe the desired literary reality / literary life (oriented mainly on diversity, multiplicity, horizontality), and that around 2000 its meaning changed and it began being used to refer to facts: the marginalization of literature, the lack of a platform for criticism, the commodification of the book.W artykule przedstawiono kategorię i pojęcie normalności jako centralne dla dyskursów krytycznoliterackich lat dziewięćdziesiątych XX wieku i początku XXI wieku.
The author analyzes the critical reception of the works by Justyna Bargielska, pondering over mechanisms of defense from over-interpretation or critical misuse included in the poet’s books. Using the hypothesis of narrative sources in defense against accusation as a starting point, she researches Bargielska’s writing strategies, especially in the novel Małe lisy, in order to define the role of shame within. Bargielska’s characters refuse to be ashamed of things, which are generally considered shameful. The purpose of this work is to indicate that this phenomenon – called the “shamelessness strategy” – influences the form of text itself; what it allows for, and what it makes a necessity. The author analyzes the critical reception of the works by Justyna Bargielska, pondering over mechanisms of defense from over-interpretation or critical misuse included in the poet’s books. Does this poem work (for you)? Irony, possibility and work in Adrienne Rich’s and Franco Berardi’s critical thought
The starting point of the paper is the social function of poetry, as understood by Adrienne Rich in her later essays. According to Rich, the single most important function or „capacity” delivered by poetry today is to continuously remind us of the things that we might want (as individuals as well as a society), our forgotten or buried desires. In her manifesto „Poetry and Commitment” Rich asks about the ways in which poetry intervenes in one’s life – how, with all its formal aspects and aesthetic mechanisms it enables us to imagine an everyday life different from the one we already have. In the paper the authoress compares Rich’s point of view to that of Franco „Bifo” Berardi in his last book „Uprising. Poetry and Finance”. Using Polish poetry of the last ten years or so as an example, the paper reflects on the actual work of (and the inside of) the poem. Autorka szkicu rekonstruuje punkt widzenia Rich i porównuje go z koncepcjami Franco „Bifo” Berardiego, z książki „Uprising. On poetry and finance”. Powołując się na przykłady z polskiej poezji ostatniej dekady, szkic stara się udzielić odpowiedzi na pytanie o pracę, która odbywa się w wierszu

Topography and morphometry of intestinal mast cells in children with Hirschsprung's disease.
Mast cells (MC) are source of many biological active compounds like cytokines, arachidonic acid derivates, proteoglicanes, prostaglandins, proteases, free oxygen radials, NGF, PAF and many more. The role of MC in pathogenesis of Hirschsprung's disease (HD) is not clear. Substances produced by MC may exert an important effect on embryology, growth, differentiation and regeneration of intestinal nervous system. Additionally, MC products modulate inflammation processes thus influencing on the clinical course of HD. Present study was established to evaluate the morphologic MC examination as a support of making diagnosis in HD. The MC topography and morphometry were evaluated in specimens collected from aganglionic colon of patients with diagnosed HD. The results were compared with corresponding data from normally innervated colon of patients suffering from constipation, and normal colon of children not presenting defecation problems. MC were visualized using indirect immunohistochemical method LSAB with mouse antibody against human tryptase. The MC visualized in submucosa and muscular layer in Hirschsprung's disease were significantly larger in comparison with control group (
Obowiązek ujawniania danych i informacji dotyczących przedsiębiorców w kontekście zasady bezpieczeństwa obrotu
The subject of the above article is the controversy concerning over the obligation
of revealing facts and figures regarding the enterprise. The principle of security and
certainty of legal transactions requires an universal access to the information, that
describe legal and economic situation of the enterprise. The proper registers are
obliged to reveal the data concerning the enterprise. According to the first directive
of the Council of the European Union of 9 March 1968, those registers may be
kept by the courts, the administrative bodies, or the enterprises’ self-governments. It
should be assumed that the above mentioned directive sets the catalogue of data and
documents, that are sufficient enough to determinate the legal and economic situation
of the enterprise, essential to assure the security of commerce. The extension of the
data, that are the subject of disclosure may raise some doubts. The issue of a duty to
reveal some specific information, gives rise to controversy, especially if concerning
privacy rights. Some threats may also be seen in the context of protection of other
different personal goods, such as the personal data.
Signalising the problem should in no way endorse the demands of abolishing
the registers of enterprises or the principle of the open access to the register data.
However, the obligation to reveal some particular data of the enterprise, as long
as required to fulfil the principle of the security of commerce, should not be in
contradiction with a necessity of protection in terms of these subjects concerning
the right to privacy and protection of personal details. Undoubtedly, it is possible to
build a model that would both allow to disclose the data essential to assure from the
security of commerce’s point of view and that would also assure the proper security
in terms of private as well as public law.Uniwersytet w Białymstok
