The aesthetic value of different aspects
Erinevate metsa majandamisvõtete kohta on tehtud arvukalt uuringuid, kuid enamasti
Töö eemärgiks on teada saada erinevate majandatuse astmetega metsade visuaalset
Metsaraiete suhtes on küsitletutest kõige kriitilisemad
naissoost isikud.
There has been a great deal of different studies about the techniques of managing the
forest. Mainly these studies are focused on the productivity and different techniques of
lumbering and the ecological effect on the biota. This thesis however is focused on
studying the aesthetic agreeableness and acceptance of less researched areas of
lumbering. The goal of this thesis is to learn about the visual evaluation/acceptance of
the forests that have different levels of management. It also helps to learn about the
effective factors, such as gender and frequency of the visits to the forest, which
influence these matters.
To compile this thesis a questionnaire was conducted, where respondents evaluated
different lumbering techniques through the photos. The samplings for this questionnaire
were the young from the 12th grade in the county of Tartu. There were 167
questionnaires used in the analysis. As a result an analysis was carried out about the
changes of the levels of evaluation/acceptance, depending on the type of the lumbering,
and on the features that have an effect on those changes.
As a result of the analysis it becomes clear that students evaluate forests and lumbering
of the shelterwood felling more aesthetic. The lowest evaluation level was towards a
clearcut (even if there were trees that had been retained). The most negative evaluation
level was towards the snags of the trees in the clearcut areas. The most critical of the
samplings towards lumbering were women. More positive evaluation level towards
different management techniques was from those samplings who visit forests more
frequently. This research confirms the results of low visual evaluation level towards clearcuts from
the studies in other countries. Despite this confirmation the acceptance of a complete
clearcut is surprisingly higher than towards any other area where some trees were
retained. This thesis suggests further studies regarding preferences in different forest
management techniques of people working in different fields
