Improvement of thermodynamic properties of a high-speed DRTA probe by numerical simulations
This work focuses on the design of high subsonic gas speed DRTA probe, which is based on the priciples of recovery temperature measurement using two RTD sensors with different recovery factors. Using CFD simulations, analysis of constructional changes’ influence on the probe’s thermodynamic properties were made. With the use of acquired knowledge new probe’s prototype geometry was presented and analysed as well
Against Reduction: Literary Criticism and Our Metaphors of Mind
Too much of modern literary criticism is reductive in nature. Regardless of whether its perspective is predominantly objective, pragmatic, mimetic, or expressive, contemporary criticism tends to restrict its focus to a limited range of narrowly conceived ideas. As a result, the continued study and understanding of literature as a distinct and recognizable body of significant literary works is threatened. To counter this trend, a spontaneous mindset needs to be incorporated into criticism, a mindset that resists reductive theories and embraces the complexity of the human condition.https://doi.org/10.46569/20.500.12680/qf85nj30
The Design of High Speed Probe for Velocity Measurement of Compressible Gas
Bachelor thesis focuses on the design of probe for high subsonic gas velocity measurement. Probe based on different recovery temperature measurement containing two resistance thermometers was designed. Furthermore, there was wind tunnel analysis carried out within preparational measurements, followed by experimental testing of the probe prototype
Managing a non-profit hospitality platform conversion: The case of Couchsurfing.com
Couchsurfing (CS) was founded in 2003 as a non-profit for those interested in creating a common resource for world-wide hospitality exchange and low cost tourism. Built around a non-market communal sharing model, it became a for-profit in August 2011. Applying a discourse relational model approach, this study characterizes how competing discursive articulations over the conversion led to a discursive strategy of moral justification as management sought to retain its non-profit, alternative, democratic imaginary. The study finds that the justifications gained initial appeal, but ultimately lost credibility due to a mismanaged conversion. By articulating the competing discourses through the sacred value protection model (SVPM), this study provides insights into the way in which a management strategy can be interpreted at a micro-analysis level. It recommends that management decisions need to start from the activities of the organizations members, groups and networks so as to account for their emotions, motivations and actions
Economy and marketing of agrotourist farm
The main objective of this work is to analyze the current structure of agro-tourist farms in Benešov Region in terms of a combination of farming and tourism related activities and further evaluation of their economics and marketing. The theoretical part consists of findings from literature on agro-tourism, economics and marketing. The focus of the practical part is the situational analysis of three specific farms - Ztracenka, Věřice and Heroutice. It is clear that tourism activities in the effective use of marketing over the years have a tendency to growth. A key activity of a thriving agro-tourist farm is based on finding an effective form of marketing in the effective promotion of services
Marketing of agritouristic farms in the Benesov region
The main objective of this study was to evaluate the current situation of selected agro-tourist farms Benešovsku in terms of their structure, collaboration with local action groups (LAGs), the method and the effectiveness of their marketing. The theoretical approach was the study of literature, including Internet resources. The theoretical part were subsequently confronted with the information obtained in the empirical part - conducted interviews with the owners and operators of agro-tourist farms in the monitored region and representatives of local action groups. Based on the information and suggestions in the final part of the thesis formulated recommendations. The aim to optimize the marketing strategy of agro-tourist farms Benešovsku

Engineering circuits of human iPSC-derived neurons and rat primary glia
Novel in vitro platforms based on human neurons are needed to improve early drug testing and address the stalling drug discovery in neurological disorders. Topologically controlled circuits of human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neurons have the potential to become such a testing system. In this work, we build in vitro co-cultured circuits of human iPSC-derived neurons and rat primary glial cells using microfabricated polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) structures on microelectrode arrays (MEAs). Our PDMS microstructures are designed in the shape of a stomach, which guides axons in one direction and thereby facilitates the unidirectional flow of information. Such circuits are created by seeding either dissociated cells or pre-aggregated spheroids at different neuron-to-glia ratios. Furthermore, an antifouling coating is developed to prevent axonal overgrowth in undesired locations of the microstructure. We assess the electrophysiological properties of different types of circuits over more than 50 days, including their stimulation-induced neural activity. Finally, we demonstrate the inhibitory effect of magnesium chloride on the electrical activity of our iPSC circuits as a proof-of-concept for screening of neuroactive compounds.ISSN:1662-453XISSN:1662-454
