    Decision making under incompleteness based on soft set theory

    [EN]Decision making with complete and accurate information is ideal but infrequent. Unfortunately, in most cases the available infor- mation is vague, imprecise, uncertain or unknown. The theory of soft sets provides an appropriate framework for decision making that may be used to deal with uncertain decisions. The aim of this paper is to propose and analyze an effective algorithm for multiple attribute decision-making based on soft set theory in an incomplete information environment, when the distribution of incomplete data is unknown. This procedure provides an accurate solution through a combinatorial study of possible cases in the unknown data. Our theoretical development is complemented by practical examples that show the feasibility and implementability of this algorithm. Moreover, we review recent research on decision making from the standpoint of the theory of soft sets under incomplete information

    Squirrels and Tribes – A Cultural Analysis From Indian Eastern Himalayas

    Based on an ethnozoological study carried out from December 2018 to November 2019, this paper attempts to document the usage of squirrel species for various purposes by the Adi, Idu Mishmi, Miju Mishmi, Tangsa, Chakma and Monpa tribe living near the villages adjoining the protected areas located in the districts of East Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, Dibang Valley, Lohit, Changlang and West Kameng of Arunachal Pradesh, India. The paper also describes the use of certain squirrel species as a part of their traditional culture and lists their names in English, Vernacular and Latin names. The study has led to an understanding that eight squirrel species are used by the tribes for cultural, food and medicinal purposes. This work contributes to ethnozoological research by describing a knowledge system of squirrel species use and the association of squirrel species with the cultural believes of the tribes.</jats:p

    Lamiaceae members are commonly used in ethno-medicinal practices of our country. The in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activity of various solvents extracts of different aerial parts of Ocimum americanum L., O. basilicum L. and O. sanctum L. wereassessed on standard bacterial and fungal strains using standard laboratory methods. Extracts from O. americanum have inhibitory activity against B. subtilis, B. cereus and S. aureus.Acetone extracts of O. basilicum and O. sanctum were found to be more potent being capable of exerting significant inhibitory activities against majority of the bacteria investigated. Acetone extract of young inflorescence of O. americanum showed highest antibacterial activity against B. cereus (14±1mm) which was also higher (10±1mm) than the inhibition of standard Clotrimazole (10mcg). Hot petroleum ether extract of mature leaves of O. basilicum showed highest activity against E. coli (16±2mm) which was also higher than the inhibition ofAmpicillin, Streptomycitin, Erythromycin.Petroleum ether extract of young leaves of O. sanctum recorded highest inhibition against P. vulgaris (20±2mm). Presence of tannins, flavonoids, saponins, phenols in all the parts of the plants. Use of different parts instead of using whole plant will help in sustainable management of these medicinal plants.</jats:p
