    Analysis of Supersymmetric Effects on B -> phi K Decays in the PQCD Approach

    We study the effects of the MSSM contribution on B -> phi K decays using the perturbative QCD approach. In this approach, strong phases can be calculated, so that we can predict the values of CP asymmetries with the MSSM contribution. We predict a large relative strong phase between the penguin amplitude and the chromomagnetic penguin amplitude. If there is a new CP violating phase in the chromomagnetic penguin amplitude, then the CP asymmetries may change significantly from the SM prediction. We parametrize the new physics contributions that appear in the Wilson coefficients. We maximize the new physics parameters up to the point where it is limited by experimental constraints. In the case of the LR insertion, we find that the direct CP asymmetries can reach about 85% and the indirect CP asymmetry can reach about -30%.Comment: 18 pages, 9 figures, REVTeX, Minor changes, Version to appear in Phys.     Reversible stretching of homopolymers and random heteropolymers

    We have analyzed the equilibrium response of chain molecules to stretching. For a homogeneous sequence of monomers, the induced transition from compact globule to extended coil below the θ\theta-temperature is predicted to be sharp. For random sequences, however, the transition may be smoothed by a prevalence of necklace-like structures, in which globular regions and coil regions coexist in a single chain. As we show in the context of a random copolymer, preferential solvation of one monomer type lends stability to such structures. The range of stretching forces over which necklaces are stable is sensitive to chain length as well as sequence statistics.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figure

    Twist-3 Distribute Amplitude of the Pion in QCD Sum Rules

    We apply the background field method to calculate the moments of the pion two-particles twist-3 distribution amplitude (DA) ϕp(ξ)\phi_p(\xi) in QCD sum rules. In this paper,we do not use the equation of motion for the quarks inside the pion since they are not on shell and introduce a new parameter m0pm_0^p to be determined. We get the parameter m0p1.30GeVm_0^p\approx1.30GeV in this approach. If assuming the expansion of ϕp(ξ)\phi_p(\xi) in the series in Gegenbauer polynomials Cn1/2(ξ)C_n^{1/2}(\xi), one can obtain its approximate expression which can be determined by its first few moments.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figure

    Flavourful hadronic physics

    We review theoretical approaches to form factors that arise in heavy-meson decays and are hadronic expressions of non-perturbative QCD. After motivating their origin in QCD factorisation, we retrace their evolution from quark-model calculations to non-perturbative QCD techniques with an emphasis on formulations of truncated heavy-light amplitudes based upon Dyson-Schwinger equations.     Doping dependence of the resonance peak and incommensuration in high-TcT_{c} superconductors

    The doping and frequency evolutions of the incommensurate spin response and the resonance mode are studied based on the scenario of the Fermi surface topology. We use the slave-boson mean-field approach to the ttJt-t^{\prime}-J model and including the antiferromagnetic fluctuation correction in the random-phase approximation. We find that the equality between the incommensurability and the hole concentration is reproduced at low frequencies in the underdoped regime. This equality observed in experiments was explained {\it only} based on the stripe model before. We also obtain the downward dispersion for the spin response and predict its doping dependence for further experimental testing, as well as a proportionality between the low-energy incommensurability and the resonance energy. Our results suggest a common origin for the incommensuration and the resonance peak based on the Fermi surface topology and the d-wave symmetry.Comment: 5 pages, 4 PS figure

    Threshold resummation for exclusive B meson decays

    We argue that double logarithmic corrections αsln2x\alpha_s\ln^2 x need to be resumed in perturbative QCD factorization theorem for exclusive BB meson decays, when the end-point region with a momentum fraction x0x\to 0 is important. These double logarithms, being of the collinear origin, are absorbed into a quark jet function, which is defined by a matrix element of a quark field attached by a Wilson line. The factorization of the jet function from the decay BγlνˉB\to\gamma l\bar\nu is proved to all orders. Threshold resummation for the jet function leads to a universal, {\it i.e.}, process-independent, Sudakov factor, whose qualitative behavior is analyzed and found to smear the end-point singularities in heavy-to-light transition form factors.Comment: 10 pages, more details are include

    Vertex functions for d-wave mesons in the light-front approach

    While the light-front quark model (LFQM) is employed to calculate hadronic transition matrix elements, the vertex functions must be pre-determined. In this work we derive the vertex functions for all d-wave states in this model. Especially, since both of 3D1^3D_1 and 3S1^3S_1 are 11^{--} mesons, the Lorentz structures of their vertex functions are the same. Thus when one needs to study the processes where 3D1^3D_1 is involved, all the corresponding formulas for 3S1^3S_1 states can be directly applied, only the coefficient of the vertex function should be replaced by that for 3D1^3D_1. The results would be useful for studying the newly observed resonances which are supposed to be d-wave mesons and furthermore the possible 2S-1D mixing in ψ\psi' with the LFQM.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figures, some typos corrected and more discussions added.     Strong Phases and Factorization for Color Suppressed Decays

    We prove a factorization theorem in QCD for the color suppressed decays B0-> D0 M0 and B0-> D*0 M0 where M is a light meson. Both the color-suppressed and W-exchange/annihilation amplitudes contribute at lowest order in LambdaQCD/Q where Q={mb, mc, Epi}, so no power suppression of annihilation contributions is found. A new mechanism is given for generating non-perturbative strong phases in the factorization framework. Model independent predictions that follow from our results include the equality of the B0 -> D0 M0 and B0 -> D*0 M0 rates, and equality of non-perturbative strong phases between isospin amplitudes, delta(DM) = delta(D*M). Relations between amplitudes and phases for M=pi,rho are also derived. These results do not follow from large Nc factorization with heavy quark symmetry.Comment: 38 pages, 6 figs, typos correcte

    BKB\to K Transition Form Factor up to O(1/mb2){\cal O}(1/m^2_b) within the kTk_T Factorization Approach

    In the paper, we apply the kTk_T factorization approach to deal with the BKB\to K transition form factor F+,0BK(q2)F^{B\to K}_{+,0}(q^2) in the large recoil regions. The B-meson wave functions ΨB\Psi_B and ΨˉB\bar\Psi_B that include the three-particle Fock states' contributions are adopted to give a consistent PQCD analysis of the form factor up to O(1/mb2){\cal O} (1/m^2_b). It has been found that both the wave functions ΨB\Psi_B and ΨˉB\bar\Psi_B can give sizable contributions to the form factor and should be kept for a better understanding of the BB meson decays. Then the contributions from different twist structures of the kaon wavefunction are discussed, including the SUf(3)SU_f(3)-breaking effects. A sizable contribution from the twist-3 wave function Ψp\Psi_p is found, whose model dependence is discussed by taking two group of parameters that are determined by different distribution amplitude moments obtained in the literature. It is also shown that F+,0BK(0)=0.30±0.04F^{B\to K}_{+,0}(0)=0.30\pm0.04 and [F+,0BK(0)/F+,0Bπ(0)]=1.13±0.02[F^{B\to K}_{+,0}(0)/F^{B\to \pi}_{+,0}(0)]=1.13\pm0.02, which are more reasonable and consistent with the light-cone sum rule results in the large recoil regions.Comment: 22 pages and 6 figure

    Using data collected with the BESII detector at e+ee^{+}e^{-} storage ring Beijing Electron Positron Collider, the measurements of relative branching fractions for seven Cabibbo suppressed hadronic weak decays D0KK+D^0 \to K^- K^+, π+π\pi^+ \pi^-, KK+π+πK^- K^+ \pi^+ \pi^- and π+π+ππ\pi^+ \pi^+ \pi^- \pi^-, D+K0ˉK+D^+ \to \bar{K^0} K^+, KK+π+K^- K^+ \pi^+ and ππ+π+\pi^- \pi^+ \pi^+ are presented.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figure
