Online Dynamic Asynchronous Audit Strategy for Reflexivity in the Qualitative Paradigm

    Get PDF
The trustworthiness of a qualitative study can be increased by maintaining high credibility and objectivity. Of utmost importance to these factors is the reflexivity of the researcher. Standard journaling techniques are frequently used to maintain an audit trail and document tentative interpretations of a study. One of the major limitations to paper-based reflexivity is the lack of regular audit feedback. Online blogging tools can facilitate reflexivity and subsequent auditing with ease. Blogs are potentially cost-free, and only a rudimentary understanding of a web browser and word processing program are necessary for effective use. Moreover, blogs provide a simple, contiguous interface for an effective auditing process. An analysis of a reflexivity blog and subsequent audits is examined here. Findings indicate that the multiple perspectives of the auditors gave additional insights and that might not normally be considered by a researcher, providing a multi-arrayed perspective to interpretation of a study data set

    Get PDF

    Get PDF
IPS: 1: 3/8 2: 3/8 3: 1/8 4: 0/8 ≥ 5: 1/8. Tratamientos: ABVD x 6: 6/8, ABVD x 6 + Radioterapia: 2/8. PET intermedio: 8/8 negativos (6/8 PET 3, 2/8 PET 2). PET final: 7/8 PET negativo, 1/8 PET positivo. The interim 2-[18F] fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) may play an ideal role in this perspective. Objective: To assess the prognostic role of the interim FDG-PET for predicting progression free survival and overall survival in HL patients. Patients and methods: This study was carried out at the Mendoza Central Hospital Haematology Division including patients with HL confirmed by histology. According to the stage and presentation site, patients received chemotherapy alone or the combination of chemotherapy plus radiotherapy, using the ABVD regimen (adryamicin, bleomycin, vinblastine and dacarbazyne) as the standard protocol. The FDG-PET scans were practiced as part of the interim staging and at the end of the therapy. Results: Eight patients were evaluated, Sex: F/M: 4/4, Age: 18-58 years (Medium: 29 years), Stages: IIB: 1, IIIA: 2, IIIB: 1, IVA: 1, IVB: 3, nodal sites: 2-10 (Medium: 4), extranodal involvement: 4/8, B symtoms: 5/8, bulky disease: 2/8. Histologic types: Nodular esclerosis: 6/8, Mixed cellularity: 1/8, Lymphocyte depletion: 1/8. IPS: 1: 3/8 2: 3/8 3: 1/8 4: 0/8 ≥ 5: 1/8. Therapy: ABVD x 6: 6/8, ABVD x 6 + Radiotherapy: 2/8. Interim PET: 8/8 negative (6/8 PET 3, 2/8 PET 2). Final PET: 7/8 negative PET, 1/8 positive PET. Relapse: 1/8 (10° month). Follow-up: 11-37 months (medium of 24 months).Fil: Albarracin Garramuño, Flavio. Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. Facultad de Ciencias Médicas. Área de HematologíaFil: Labanca, Valentín. Financial stability analysis: insights gained from consolidated banking data for the EU

This occasional paper explores the Consolidated Banking Data (CBD), a key component of the ECB statistical toolbox for financial stability analysis. We show that non-consolidated, host-country Monetary Financial Institutions (MFI) balance sheet data, which constitutes a key source of input into monetary analysis, are a rather weak proxy for consolidated, home-country data and therefore cannot easily substitute CBD for the purposes of macro-prudential assessment. In addition, it is argued that, notwithstanding the relevance of large banks, medium-sized and small banks must also be taken into account in financial stability analysis, given their relevance in several EU countries and their different business models. A discussion follows on how aggregate data, broken down by bank size, can be used to complement micro data, in particular by signalling where and what to look for, again highlighting the differences between large banks on the one hand and small and mediumsized banks on the other

Asymmetrical lower extremity loading early after ACL reconstruction is a significant predictor of asymmetrical loading at the time of return to sport

    Get PDF
OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to examine whether asymmetrical lower limb loading early after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (1 mo) can predict asymmetrical lower limb loading at the time of return to sport (6 mos) and whether other early predictors as knee joint range of motion or maximal isometric strength affect this relationship. DESIGN: Ground reaction forces were measured during a sit-to-stand task 1 mo after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and a vertical countermovement jump 6 mos after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in 58 athletes. Other early postoperative measurements were knee joint range of motion (2 wks, 1 mo, and 2 mos after surgery) and maximal isometric strength of the knee extensor and flexor muscles (2 mos after surgery). Linear regression models were developed using side-to-side limb symmetry index (LSI) of countermovement jump as the dependent variable. RESULTS: LSI of sit-to-stand task 1 mo after surgery was a significant independent predictor of LSI of countermovement jump 6 mos after surgery. After accounting for deficits in knee joint range of motion and LSI of maximal isometric strength (ΔR² = 0.35, P < 0.01), LSI of sit-to-stand task predicted LSI of countermovement jump (ΔR² = 0.14 P < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS: Asymmetrical lower extremity loading 1 mo after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction is an early predictor of asymmetrical lower extremity loading 6 mos after surgery
