Craton-scale variations in crustal evolution: new insights from Scottish Highland detrital zircon
Shaped nozzles for cryogenic buffer gas beam sources
Cryogenic buffer gas beams are important sources of cold molecules. In this
work we explore the use of a converging-diverging nozzle with a buffer-gas
beam. We find that, under appropriate circumstances, the use of a nozzle can
produce a beam with improved collimation, lower transverse temperatures, and
higher fluxes per solid angle
Quantum orbits of R-matrix type
Given a simple Lie algebra \gggg, we consider the orbits in \gggg^* which
are of R-matrix type, i.e., which possess a Poisson pencil generated by the
Kirillov-Kostant-Souriau bracket and the so-called R-matrix bracket. We call an
algebra quantizing the latter bracket a quantum orbit of R-matrix type. We
describe some orbits of this type explicitly and we construct a quantization of
the whole Poisson pencil on these orbits in a similar way. The notions of
q-deformed Lie brackets, braided coadjoint vector fields and tangent vector

The centred travelling salesman at high temperature
A recently formulated statistical mechanics method is used to study the phase transition occurring in a generalisation of the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) known as the centred TSP. The method shows that the problem has clear signs of a crossover, but is only able to access (unscaled) finite temperatures above the transition point. The solution of the problem using this method displays a curious duality
New evidence for super-roughening in crystalline surfaces with disordered substrate
We study the behavior of the Binder cumulant related to long distance
correlation functions of the discrete Gaussian model of disordered substrate
crystalline surfaces. We exhibit numerical evidence that the non-Gaussian
behavior in the low- region persists on large length scales, in agreement

A Study of Activated Processes in Soft Sphere Glass
On the basis of long simulations of a binary mixture of soft spheres just
below the glass transition, we make an exploratory study of the activated
processes that contribute to the dynamics. We concentrate on statistical

Ethics beyond the code of conduct - understanding the ethical dilemmas of entrepreneurs
Entrepreneurs choose a particular way of life with the dual aim of maximising profit and gaining a sense of self-satisfaction. In these endeavours, entrepreneurs typically live with the threat of competition and the risk of business failure, while attempting to do their best within the limitations of their resources. This qualitative study first examines existing theories of ethics and ways of applying business ethics and thereafter investigates entrepreneurs' actual experiences by means of in-depth interviews and the use of phenomenology. It finds that entrepreneurs are not guided by any specific code of conduct, and must decide for themselves what is right. It describes the entrepreneurial business ethic, some of the types of dilemmas that they experience and the methods that they have developed to deal with the dilemmas
