Aphicidal activity screening of plant extracts from Pistacia lentiscus (Anacardiaceae)

The excessive use of chemical pesticides has generated many problems to the human health and the environment. To reduce these problems, the use of biopesticides deriving from plants has a lot of advantages. In this context, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Pistacia lentiscus L. extracts on insect pests. In vitro tests of five essential oil concentrations (EOs) and five aqueous extracts were performed with respect to their efficacy against the rosy apple aphid Dysaphis plantaginea (Passerini). The obtained results revealed that the concentration of 9% was the most toxic against aphids (mortality rate of 50.77%), while the concentration 5% was the most repellent (repellency percentage -RP- 53.33%) among the examined aqueous extracts. Concerning the EOs, the 10000ppm treatment was the most efficient with a mortality rate of 71.13% and an RP of 66.67%.

Alors nous avons essayé dans notre inventaire des plus importantes conséquences de cette crise sur le monde, marché de l’huile afin d’identifier les facteurs les plus importants affectant le pétrole exporte en arabe et crises L'étude repose sur le problème suivant: Quel effet généré par l'impact de la crise financière mondiale de 2008 sur les exportations de pétrole vers les pays arabes? En utilisant les principes de l’économétrie et ses outils d’huile exportations atteints arabe lié à la forte corrélation avec le prix du pétrole au cours de la période d’étude a révélé que 60 % des changements à la suite des fluctuations des cours du pétrole

The effect of the patio on the indoor thermal performancein the colonial courtyard houses in the saharan climate. The case of Biskra in Algeria

A wide range of studies related to the evaluation of thermal comfort were undertaken on various types of buildings as an attempt to draw up that the interaction between the environment and the user is necessary to properly evaluate the indoor thermal comfort. The present research aims to explore the thermal quality within the French colonial houses in the town of Biskra where many passive techniques have been used for modifying the interior climate by promoting the passive cooling devices, inspired by the local traditional architecture. The courtyard, which is a one of the bioclimatic strategies to reduce the external climatic constraints, is also a key for passive cooling. Consequently, this work aims to characterize the impact of the patio in a saharan climate on the ambiance quality of the interior space of the houses. In this paper, an investigation is being conducted in five houses with patio, chosen as representative samples of colonial architecture in Biskra by an objective experimental method that contains in situ useful measurements for the calculation of Top and Tmr comfort indices according to the ISO 7730 standard for the evaluation of thermal comfort summer. In order to build more comfortable houses, many traditional techniques could be improved by using modern knowledge, rather than to be totally abandoned

Finite Element analysis of stress state in the cement of total hip prosthesis with elastomeric stress barrier

In the total hip prosthesis, according to different positions of the patient, there are a variety of loads acting on femoral head which generate stress concentration in the cement called polymethylmethacrylat (PMMA) and consequently in the interfaces stem/cement/bone. This load transfer can provoke loosening of the implant from the femoral bone. This paper focused on optimal stress distribution in the total hip prosthesis and devoted to the development of a redesigned prosthesis type in order to minimize stress concentration in the cement. This study investigated the effect of elastomeric stress barrier incorporated between the stem and femoral head using 3D-finite element analysis. This proposed implant provoked lower load transfer in the cement due to the elastomeric effect as stress absorber.  However, the proposed model provided an acceptable solution for load transfer reduction to the cement. This investigation permitted to increase the service life of the total hip prosthesis avoiding the loosening

Fluctuations of aphid populations on grapefruit (Citrus x paradisi Macfad.)

Very few studies were carried out to investigate the aphids attacking grapefruit. These pests cause considerable damages on citrus trees and other crops. This paper reports on the fluctuations of aphids on grapefruit in the region of Skikda (Algeria). From January 2012 to December 2013, monthly surveys were performed to measure the abundance of aphids recorded on 16 leaves of grapefruit. Through this study, five aphid species were identified, among them Aphis spiraecola Patch, 1914 was the most numerous. Besides, we noticed that the populations of aphids reached high levels many times within the year. However, the most important densities were recorded in spring and autumn.</p
