GEANT4 : a simulation toolkit

Abstract Geant4 is a toolkit for simulating the passage of particles through matter. It includes a complete range of functionality including tracking, geometry, physics models and hits. The physics processes offered cover a comprehensive range, including electromagnetic, hadronic and optical processes, a large set of long-lived particles, materials and elements, over a wide energy range starting, in some cases, from 250 eV and extending in others to the TeV energy range. It has been designed and constructed to expose the physics models utilised, to handle complex geometries, and to enable its easy adaptation for optimal use in different sets of applications. The toolkit is the result of a worldwide collaboration of physicists and software engineers. It has been created exploiting software engineering and object-oriented technology and implemented in the C++ programming language. Status and perspective of detector databases in the CMS experiment at the LHC

This note gives an overview at a high conceptual level of the various databases that capture the information concerning the CMS detector. The detector domain has been split up into four, partly overlapping parts that cover phases in the detector life cycle: construction, integration, configuration and condition, and a geometry part that is common to all phases. The discussion addresses the specific content and usage of each part, and further requirements, dependencies and interfaces

HLA dependency and possible clinical relevance of intrathecally synthesized anti-IgLON5 IgG4 in anti-IgLON5 disease

BackgroundAnti-IgLON5 disease is a rare chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by IgLON5 autoantibodies predominantly of the IgG4 subclass. Distinct pathogenic effects were described for anti-IgLON5 IgG1 and IgG4, however, with uncertain clinical relevance.MethodsIgLON5-specific IgG1-4 levels were measured in 46 sera and 20 cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples from 13 HLA-subtyped anti-IgLON5 disease patients (six females, seven males) using flow cytometry. Intervals between two consecutive serum or CSF samplings (31 and 10 intervals, respectively) were categorized with regard to the immunomodulatory treatment active at the end of the interval, changes of anti-IgLON5 IgG1 and IgG4 levels, and disease severity. Intrathecal anti-IgLON5 IgG4 synthesis (IS) was assessed using a quantitative method.ResultsThe median age at onset was 66 years (range: 54–75), disease duration 10 years (range: 15–156 months), and follow-up 25 months (range: 0–83). IgLON5-specific IgG4 predominance was observed in 38 of 46 (83%) serum and 11 of 20 (55%) CSF samples. Anti-IgLON5 IgG4 levels prior clinical improvement in CSF but not serum were significantly lower than in those prior stable/progressive disease. Compared to IgLON5 IgG4 levels in serum, CSF levels in HLA-DRB1*10:01 carriers were significantly higher than in non-carriers. Indeed, IgLON5-specific IgG4 IS was demonstrated not only in four of five HLA-DRB1*10:01 carriers but also in one non-carrier. Immunotherapy was associated with decreased anti-IgGLON5 IgG serum levels. In CSF, lower anti-IgLON5 IgG was associated with immunosuppressive treatments used in combination, that is, corticosteroids and/or azathioprine plus intravenous immunoglobulins or rituximab.ConclusionOur findings might indicate that CSF IgLON5-specific IgG4 is frequently produced intrathecally, especially in HLA-DRB1*10:01 carriers. Intrathecally produced IgG4 may be clinically relevant. While many immunotherapies reduce serum IgLON5 IgG levels, more intense immunotherapies induce clinical improvement and may be able to target intrathecally produced anti-IgLON5 IgG. Further studies need to confirm whether anti-IgLON5 IgG4 IS is a suitable prognostic and predictive biomarker in anti-IgLON5 disease

Negativzinsen im Unternehmerkreditgeschäft

In dieser Arbeit werden im Hinblick auf das Thema Negativzinsen sowohl das kreditnehmende als auch das kreditgebende Unternehmen beleuchtet. Das erstmalige flächendeckende Auftreten von Negativzinsen stellte die österreichischen Gerichte in den letzten Jahren vor eine große Herausforderung. Eine Wiederkehr dieser Situation kann nicht ausgeschlossen werden. Darum ist es umso wichtiger, rechtliche Erkenntnisse zur Thematik zu erlangen. Im Fokus steht die differenzierte Beurteilung der Negativzinsen im B2B Geschäft im Unterschied zum Verbraucherkreditgeschäft. Während bei Verbraucherkrediten bereits von einer gefestigten Rechtsprechung ausgegangen werden darf, können die daraus gewonnen Erkenntnisse nicht ohne weiteres auf Unternehmerkreditgeschäfte umgelegt werden. Zwar existieren bereits oberstgerichtliche Urteile zum Thema Negativzinsen bei Unternehmerkreditverträgen, jedoch sind diese Urteile meist Einzelfallentscheidungen. Mithilfe von unterschiedlichen Lehrmeinungen werden wesentliche Aspekte der Vertragsgestaltung aufgegriffen und im Lichte der vorhandenen Rechtsprechung diskutiert. Eingegangen wird auch auf die damit zusammenhängenden wirtschaftlichen Problemstellungen. Nike as acroterion

Dieser Arbeit liegen 72 in Griechenland, Kleinasien und Italien gefundene, als Niken anzusprechende Statuen zu Grunde, welche sicher oder zumindest m\uf6glicherweise als Akroterfigur gedient haben. Die Identifizierung einer Statue als solche ist oft nicht unanfechtbar, da neben den Akroteren auch Giebelskulpturen vollplastisch ausgef\ufchrt sein k\uf6nnen. Als Zuweisungskriterien sind Fundort, Material sowie die St\ue4rke und Position der Verwitterungsspuren anzuf\ufchren. Die Benutzung der Figur einer Nike als Akroter ist wohl mit dem mit ihr verbundenen Flugmotiv wie auch bei Tempelbauten mit der Tatsache verbunden, dass Nike auf die Sieghaftigkeit der im Tempel verehrten Gottheit hinweist. Im Katalog werden zu den einzelnen Exemplaren jeweils die Punkte Fundort, Aufbewahrungsort, Material, H\uf6he, Erhaltungszustand, Beschreibung, Verwendung/Anbringung und Datierung behandelt. Als Materialien der vorliegenden Statuen sind Stein und Terrakotta anzuf\ufchren. Doch ist in der Literatur auch von Niken aus Gold die Rede. Der Erhaltungszustand ist nicht immer als gut anzusprechen, wobei als beeintr\ue4chtigende Kriterien vor allem Oberfl\ue4chenbesch\ue4digungen und fehlende K\uf6rperteile zu nennen sind. Auch aufgrund dieser Problematik ergibt sich die Datierung oft nur im Zusammenhang mit jener der den Niken zugeschriebenen Bauwerken. Die Arbeit umfasst Statuen aus Archaik, Klassik und dem Hellenismus. Der in dieser Zeit vollzogene Wandel der Ikonographie l\ue4sst sich vor allem anhand der Darstellungsweise des Fluges feststellen. W\ue4hrend dieser in archaischer Zeit mit Hilfe des sog. Knielaufschemas lug in Form des schnellsten Laufes wiedergegeben wurde, ist bei Exemplaren aus der Klassik nur mehr eine leichte Schrittstellung zu beobachten. Die durch T\ue4uschung und Illusion \ufcberzeugende Darstellungen des Fluges, werden in hellenistischer Zeit noch durch das Motiv des Vorw\ue4rtsdr\ue4ngens erg\ue4nzt.This diploma thesis is based on 72 statues found in Greece, Asia Minor and Italy. They are referred to as Nikai and it is possible that their intended purpose was to be an acroterion. It is however not easy to identify a statue as an acroterion with absolute certainty, because there is a substantial similarity in the execution of pedimental sculptures. Therefore crucial factors for identification are the site of discovery, the material, and the intensity as well as the position/location of the composition. The application of Nike as acroterion relates to the flying theme and the fact that Nike reminds of the victorious nature of the gods worshipped in the temples. The description of every Nike consists of: site of discovery, site of exhibition, material, height, condition, description, intended purpose and the question concerning the date of origin. The statues are made of stone or terracotta, but we also know from literature of golden Nikai. The reasons for the frequently bad conditions of these statues are damages such as decomposition and the loss of body parts. These factors hamper identifying the exact date of origin, therefore often one will rely on finding out the period of origin of the building Nike was associated with. The statues referred to in this diploma thesis were made in the Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic period. During these times the iconography was subject to changes. These changes were mainly visible in the representation of the flight. The so-called Knielaufschema, which reminds of an extremely quick run, was the characteristic interpretation in the Archaic period. In the Classical period we can only see a slight motion of steps, but also a convincing reproduction of the flying theme which relates to deception and illusion.
