The stricter the better? The impact of early teacher grading standards on students’ competences development and academic track enrollment

Despite the growing attention on teachers' grading practices in educational research, less attention has been dedicated to understanding the consequences of teachers' grading standards, especially in early stages of their scholastic career, on later students' educational outcomes. This paper aims at filling this gap, analyzing the impact of teacher's severity in grading on students' competences development and academic track enrollment, and how it varies according to students' gender and socio-economic background. The analysis relies on Italian INVALSI-SNV data: information on 5th graders and their teachers are linked, and pupils are followed up to 8th and 10th grade, in which their competences and school track are recorded. Results show that being exposed to stricter grading in 5th grade leads to higher students' competences later, and to higher probability to enroll in the most prestigious academic track, with no notable heterogeneous effects across students with different sociodemographic characteristics

I carichi, che possono essere di tipo ohmico (lampadine) o ohmico-induttivo (piccole pompe),sono precisamente calcolati in funzione delle prestazioni del generatore utilizzato e vengono attivati mediante interruttori manuali in modo da simulare diverse possibili configurazioni di consumo energetico. Universities of Applied Sciences in Brazil and in Portugal from conception to practice

The primary objective of this study is to compare the conceptualized model versus the actual implementation of the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR) in Brazil and the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB) in Portugal, from its creations to the present day, in the institutional and pedagogical field. The two organizations focus on training professionals through more practical approaches, learning in close collaboration with industries and society, boosting regional development. Our research is justified by the fact that there are few studies on how higher educational organizations respond to the new demands in their local contexts, without violating their modus operandi. In Portugal, the higher education system is binary, composed of universities and polytechnics, whereas in Brazil, there is no designed system for higher education that distinguishes Classical Universities (CU) from Technological Universities (UT) such as UTFPR. The documentary evidence is composed of official documents and semi-structured interviews with managers involved both in the process of constitution of these organizations and nowadays. Data was treated using the Content Analysis technique. Firstly, this study showed that the organizations analyzed operated differently over the years. On its conception, UTFPR proposed an alternative model of university, however, after fourteen years there has been a departure from the characteristics of UAS, changingits university model. Distinctly, IPB remained faithful to the model devised in its creation, which to some extent also helped the institution to achieve national and international recognition, fulfilling its developmentalist mission.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Bioquímica do parto: fator de relevância na amamentação

This study was based on the Public Policies of the Ministry of Health that advocate the humanization of hospital care, prenatal care, childbirth and birth. We did a bibliographic research in order to highlight the main substances involved in childbirth, which affect the mother and the newborn born. It was evidenced that the endogenous drugs of childbirth or resulting from administration to the mother, positively or negatively affect breastfeeding. O general condition of the mother and newborn may be altered. This change takes place transitory, but significant at this very important time: the establishment of breastfeeding. Almost all mothers have nipple trauma, possibly due to the oral dysfunctions of the newborn caused by these substances. O speech therapist is the professional qualified to identify and intervene, in a effective in detecting and correcting these dysfunctions.Este estudo foi baseado nas Políticas Públicas do Ministério da Saúde que preconizam a humanização do atendimento hospitalar, do pré-natal, parto e nascimento. Fizemos uma pesquisa bibliografia a fim de destacarmos as principais substâncias envolvidas no momento do parto, que afetam à mãe e ao recém nascido. Ficou evidenciado que as drogas endógenas do parto ou decorrentes de administração à mãe, afetam de maneira positiva ou negativa a amamentação. Oestado geral da mãe e do recém nascido podem ser alterados. Esta alteração se dá de modo transitório, mas significativo nesta hora tão importante: o estabelecimento da amamentação. Quase todas as mães têm traumas mamilares, possivelmente, devido às disfunções orais do recém nascido causadas por estas substâncias. O fonoaudiólogo é o profissional capacitado para identificar e intervir, de maneira efetiva, na detecção e correção destas disfunções

A relação entre a interação familiar e a qualidade de vida no trabalho como provedora da satisfação para o colaborador

O mundo atual é globalizado e nele prevalece a competitividade entre as empresas e entre seus funcionários. Como as famílias são constituídas por indivíduos imersos em uma realidade laboral, elas acabam sendo impactadas por tal contexto. Assim, o objetivo geral da pesquisa foi compreender a relação entre a interação familiar, a satisfação do colaborador e a qualidade de vida no trabalho. Para isso, foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica na qual materiais já elaborados sobre os temas foram utilizados. Primeiramente, foi abordado o tema da família. Depois, a qualidade de vida no trabalho foi o foco. Após abordar os dois conceitos, um estudo sobre a interação entre eles tomou forma. As leituras possibilitaram uma análise sobre a relação entre a interação da família, a satisfação do colaborador e a qualidade de vida no trabalho. A mulher deixou de ter um papel exclusivamente familiar e começou a pleitear seu espaço no mercado de trabalho, ocorrendo, como consequência, um enriquecimento das atribuições domésticas do homem. Nos dias de hoje, existe um equilíbrio nessas responsabilidades. Assim, o que acontece em casa afeta o homem e a mulher que acabam por estender as questões domésticas aos seus ambientes laborais. Da mesma maneira, os dois podem carregar resquícios do trabalho para a família. Então, ficam claras a relação e a interferência mútua que existem entre a interação familiar e a qualidade de vida no trabalho, refletindo na satisfação do colaborador

Intimate partner violence in South Asian communities:Exploring the notion of 'shame' to promote understandings of migrant women's experiences

The notion of 'shame' is increasingly being recognized as a tool with some explanatory power to help promote understandings about a range of social problems. Through an exploration of migrant South Asian women's experiences of domestic violence and help-seeking practices, this article considers the relevance of the notion of shame as a unit of analysis to help contribute to the growing theoretical and empirical literature. This article sheds light on the meanings, events, processes and structures in the lives of migrant South Asian women respondents living in Hong Kong. Within the framework of the discussion on shame and intimate partner violence(IPV), the article also identifies the implications for social work practice

O gestor escolar frente aos desafios da escolarização dos alunos com deficiência visual

This article presents the results of the data analysis of the Master\u27s dissertation "The School Manager Facing the Challenges of the Schooling of Students with visual impairment", whose objective was to analyze the importance of the role of the school manager in the articulation of public educational policies aimed at students with visual impairment, investigating the challenges and showing some possibilities. The methodology chosen to carry out the research was Ethnography. The subjects of this research were the school managers of two schools in the municipality of Colatina (ES), one a state school and one a municipal school. The following instruments were used to reach the desired results: participant observation and semi-structured interviews. As a result, it was possible to observe that school managers face many challenges for the schooling of students with visual impairment, however the greatest difficulty concerns the training of teachers and school managers themselves and Democratic Management is very important for the schooling process of public students of Special Education.En este artículo se presentan los resultados del análisis de datos de la tesis de maestría "El gestor escolar frente a los retos de la escolarización de estudiantes con discapacidad visual", cuyo objetivo fue analizar la importancia del rol del gestor escolar en la articulación de políticas educativas públicas dirigidas a estudiantes con deficiencia visual, indagando en los retos y mostrando algunas posibilidades. La metodología elegida para llevar a cabo la investigación fue la Etnografía. Los sujetos de esta investigación fueron los directores escolares de dos escuelas del municipio de Colatina (ES), una escuela estatal y una escuela municipal. Para alcanzar los resultados deseados, se utilizaron los siguientes instrumentos: observación participante y entrevistas semiestructuradas. Como resultado, se pudo observar que los directivos escolares enfrentan muchos desafíos para la escolarización de los estudiantes con discapacidad visual, sin embargo, la mayor dificultad se refiere a la formación de los propios docentes y directivos escolares y la Gestión Democrática es muy importante para el proceso de escolarización de los estudiantes públicos de Educación Especial.O presente artigo é a apresentação dos resultados da análise de dados da dissertação de Mestrado “O gestor escolar frente aos desafios da escolarização dos alunos com deficiência visual”, cujo objeto foi analisar a importância da atuação do gestor escolar na articulação das políticas públicas educacionais direcionadas aos estudantes com deficiência visual, investigando os desafios e mostrando algumas possibilidades. O princípio do contraditório: um diálogo entre o processo civil e o processo penal

Por certo, os princípios são como a coluna vertebral em um processo. Afirmam papel preponderante para as partes levarem suas demandas ao Estado-julgador, que proferirá suas melhores decisões quando observá-los. Neste contexto, o contraditório apresenta seu papel elementar, pois não haverá processo sem a efetiva atenção a este princípio. A dialética tem papel preponderante na marcha processual. Diante disso, é fundamental que se conheça os aspetos mais relevantes do princípio do contraditório, com sua aplicação, seja no processo civil ou no processo penal. Assim, é importante analisar como a legislação portuguesa e a legislação brasileira tratam o tema. De suma relevância, também, verificar a possível integração das características do princípio do contraditório no âmbito do processo civil ao processo penal, mormente na legislação brasileira. Observa-se essa importância no momento que, como exemplo, o Brasil recentemente passou por uma profunda reforma no âmbito do seu Código de Processo Civil, em que se evidenciam dispositivos modernos que muito bem fariam ao Processo Penal.
