Este artigo discute a produção do espaço urbano paulistano a partir da biografia profissional de José Kanz. Descendente de alemães e trabalhador da construção civil, Kanz se constitiu num dos principais empreiteiros de obras da cidade de São Paulo na primeira década do século XX. Sua atuação profissional evidencia os conflitos entre poder público e privado, as estratégias de sobreviência de estrangeiros na cidade e um momento crucial de paulatina regulação da legislação urbana sob a Prefeitura de Antonio da Silva Prado. Kanz representa também o limiar da condição profissional daqueles construtores que ainda não precisavam de diploma para atuar projetando e construindo numa cidade que aos poucos foi conduzida à primazia dos engenheiros e arquitetos diplomados

Corporate Venturing Report: Historical Trends 1998-2018

The report delves into the most recent data on global investments in external startups, made by outside-in corporate venturing units. These units are on the rise and becoming increasingly active. US-based corporate VCs in 2018, for example, made the majority of total investments in external startups for the first time (PitchBook Analyst Note: The Golden Mean of Corporate Venture Capital, 2019).The term “external corporate venturing” embodies a set of distinct modes that corporate firms use to engage with innovative, external startups. These modes, among others, include corporate venture capital (CVC), corporate accelerators, corporate innovation labs, and direct corporate minority investments.The report covers two equity-based, outside-in corporate venturing modes: corporate VC and corporate accelerators. Also, given the interdependent investment relationship between corporate and private investors (i.e., private venture capital (VC) and private accelerators), we include an analysis of these investor classes in the first and last part of the report to provide contextfor external corporate venturing activities. <br/

Um acervo, uma coleção e três problemas: a Coleção Jacques Pilon da Biblioteca da FAUUSP

Este artigo examina a constituição do Acervo de Projetos de arquitetura da Biblioteca da Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Universidade de São Paulo (FAUUSP), o tratamento da Coleção Jacques Pilon e os rendimentos do projeto de arquitetura como fonte documental a partir de três questões interligadas: a constituição do campo arquitetônico no Brasil; a história de São Paulo e sua arquitetura; e a contribuição dos arquitetos estrangeiros para a construção da cidade entre 1930 e 1960. A partir da abordagem de novas e velhas fontes de pesquisa, procura-se articular a história da arquitetura com outros campos do conhecimento nem sempre a ela relacionados, mas que juntos podem contribuir para uma leitura mais complexa da produção arquitetônica e para os esforços de revisão da historiografia da arquitetura moderna no Brasil.This article examines the establishment of the Archive of Projects of the Library of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Sao Paulo (FAUUSP), the treatment of the Collection Jacques Pilon and the architectural design as a documentary source from three interconnected issues: the constitution of the architectural field in Brazil; the history of São Paulo and its architecture and the contribution of foreign architects to build the city between the years 1930 and 1960. From the approach of new and old sources of research, this article seeks to articulate the History of Architecture with other fields of knowledge not always related to it, but that together it can contribute to a more complex reading of architectural production and to efforts of reviewing the historiography of modern architecture in Brazil
