Αγωνιστικό άγχος: Διάφορες μεταξύ αθλητών υδατοσφαίρισης διαφορετικής κατηγορίας και αγωνιστικής θέσης

Σκοπός της συγκεκριμένης έρευνας είναι η διερεύνηση του αγωνιστικού άγχους κατάστασης στο άθλημα της υδατοσφαίρισης και η σύγκρισή του με βάση την κατηγορία συμμετοχής των αθλητών (Α1,Α2) και τη θέση τους κατά τη διάρκεια του αγώνα (παίκτης, τερέν, τερματοφύλακας). Στην παρούσα έρευνα συμμετείχαν (90) αθλητές υδατοσφαίρισης, 45 από ομάδες που συμμετέχουν στην Α1 και 45 από ομάδες που συμμετέχουν στην Α2 εθνική κατηγορία, από τους οποίους οι 82 ήταν παίκτες τερέν και οι 8 τερματοφύλακες. Οι αθλητές που συμμετείχαν ήταν όλοι ενήλικες. Για τους σκοπούς της έρευνας χρησιμοποιήθηκε το ερωτηματολόγιο «Αγωνιστικής Κατάστασης» (Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-II,CSAI-II, των Martens, Burton, Vealey, Bump, & Smith, 1983) τροποποιημένο για τον ελληνικό πληθυσμό από τους Κάκκος και Ζέρβας το (1996). Τα 27 ερωτήματα του ερωτηματολόγιου απαρτίζουν τρεις παράγοντες: (α) γνωστικό άγχος (cognitive-confidence), (β) σωματικό άγχος (somatic confidence) και (γ) αυτοπεποίθηση (self-confidence). Η διαδικασία περιλάμβανε χορήγηση του ερωτηματολόγιου 30 λεπτά πριν την έναρξη επισήμου αγώνα και η συλλογή των αποτελεσμάτων των αθλητών μετά το τέλος του αγώνα. Τα αποτελέσματα για την κατηγορία των αθλητών έδειξαν ότι το γνωστικό και σωματικό άγχος ήταν λίγο υψηλότερο στους αθλητές της Α2, ενώ η αυτοπεποίθηση ήταν υψηλότερη στους αθλητές της Α1 κατηγορίας. Τα αποτελέσματα για τη θέση των αθλητών έδειξαν ότι οι τερματοφύλακες βιώνουν χαμηλότερο γνωστικό άγχος και υψηλοτέρα επίπεδα αυτοπεποίθησης σε σχέση με τους αθλητές τερέν, ενώ βιώνουν υψηλότερο σωματικό άγχος. Τέλος, η υδατοσφαίριση αποτελεί ένα άθλημα με αρκετές διακρίσεις για τη χώρα μας χωρίς να έχει όμως την ανάλογη ανταπόκριση από τους Έλληνες φιλάθλους, αλλά και τους ερευνητές.The aim of this study is to look into the competitive anxiety among water polo players and is based on the different degrees of anxiety players experience which depends on the division they play in (A1, A2) as well as their playing position. The study is based on a sample of a total 90 players, 45 playing in A1 division and 45 in A2 division. 82 of the players involved in this study are field players and 8 are goalkeepers. All the athletes involved in are over eighteen. The questionnaire used for the research is the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-II, CSAI-II by Martens, Burton, Vealey, Bump & Smith, 1983 modified for the Greek standards by Kakkos and Zervas in 1996. The 27 questions included in the questionnaire focus on three distinct factors: (a) cognitive anxiety, (b) somatic anxiety and (c) self-confidence. The process involved distributing the questionnaires to be filled in to the athletes 30 minutes before an official game and getting it back after the end of the game. The results concerning the division the players were in showed that the cognitive and somatic anxiety levels were higher for the A2 division players while A1 division players scored higher in self-confidence. As far as the playing position is concerned the goalkeepers were the ones who scored lower levels of cognitive anxiety and higher self-confidence as compared with the field players. However, they tend to experience higher somatic anxiety than field players. Finally, water polo is a sport, which has won our country numerous distinctions yet it fails to attract many spectators as well as research interest
