Regulating Police Body-Worn Camera Practice - A Four Modality Perspective
Police authorities in a number of countries have recently introduced body-worn cameras (BWC). With the use of body-worn cameras, the police have gained access to new forms of wearable and powerful law enforcing technologies. The cameras enable collection of large volume of personal information and in some cases even sensitive information that must be managed and stored within the organisationin line with rules of law. As is often the case when technology develops faster than societal norms and values, a range of questions concerning issues related to regulation of these practises are still uninvestigated. Therefore, this paper will analyse what actually regulates individual police officers’ body- worn camera practice. Empirically, we use the Swedish police as a case and our study is based on qualitative interviews. Theoretically we draw upon Lawrence Lessig’s four modality model - law, norms, market, and architecture - and we conclude that i) law is considered important although law regarding BWC is still in its infancy, ii) while law and official directives have a more macro applicability, norms are developed and maintained more locally, iii) market regulate indirectly via availability and cost, and iv) architecture is not necessarily as self-executed as often stated
Cliometrics and Time Series Econometrics: Some Theory and Applications
The paper discusses a range of modern time series methods that have become popular in the past 20 years and considers their usefulness for cliometrics research both in theory and via a range of applications. Issues such as, spurious regression, unit roots, cointegration, persistence, causality, structural time series methods, including time varying parameter models, are introduced as are the estimation and testing implications that they involve. Applications include a discussion of the timing and potential causes of the British Industrial Revolution, income „convergence ‟ and the long run behaviour of English Real Wages 1264 – 1913. Finally some new and potentially useful developments are discussed including the mildly explosive processes; graphical modelling and long memory
Assessment of children in pree-school

Design, rescue, and characterization of Langat virus infectious clone by next generation sequencing
Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) is one of the most important tick-transmitted diseases in Europe and Asia. TBE virus (TBEV) infections cause mild flu-like symptoms that may lead to severe neurological disorders. The incidence of TBE cases in Sweden has increase remarkably over the last decades. There is no specific antiviral treatment available against TBEV and vaccination remains the best protective measure. The currently available TBE vaccines require repeated injections for long-term immunity and vaccine failure can occur in some patients due to poor immunogenicity in the elderly. Live attenuated viral vaccines are known to provide long-term immunity with fewer doses whereas the commercial TBE vaccines are based on single surface protein of the virus. We aim to develop a modified live attenuated TBE vaccine based on Langat virus (LGTV). LGTV is a naturally attenuated strain of TBEV. We aim to weaken the virus further by introducing modifications within LGTV genome. In this study we have successfully designed and rescued infectious clones of LGTV using RNA and DNA based strategies. We passaged these infections clones in cell culture and performed next generation sequencing to study similarity of rescued viruses to the parental LGTV sequence and their stability in cell culture. Note: Visit my poster to discuss the results of next generation sequencing analysis and rescue strategies for LGTV infectious clones. </p

Recurring iconic mapping patterns within and across verb types in German Sign Language
Many sign languages around the world have the same tripartite verb classification system based on agreement properties, and it has previously been observed that this system is at least partially semantically grounded. In this article, the extent to which iconicity plays a mediating role in this relationship between verb type and verb semantics is investigated through the identification of recurring iconic mappings across verb forms in German Sign Language (DGS). The aim is to establish which event properties are commonly iconically represented in DGS verb forms, and which of those can additionally be associated with verbs of a specific type. The results indicate that across types, handshape is associated with semantic transitivity, while the location and movement specifications of a verb form are associated with verb type. The results thus contribute toward our understanding of the role of iconicity in the relation between verb semantics and verb type in DGS and, by extension, other sign languages with similar verb type systems
