Dynamics of knowledge sharing in a cross-cultural environment
Studies have indicated that national culture may impact the choice of who shares knowledge with whom. This paper considers the problem of tacit knowledge sharing in multi-cultural environments and the issues that relate to trust, language, and culture that impact on the choice of how tacit knowledge is shared. A study was conducted in a multi-national, international, and multi-cultural Business School to discover if the theoretical research relating to a potential tacit and thus implicit knowledge sharing archetype had validity. The study conducted with 70 students from 28 nations and 24 languages, discovered that there were a number of variables that impacted who students chose to ask for (academic) tacit knowledge: these variables indicated that the longer that students spent in the Business School; the longer they were in London and the UK; and the older they were; the less they were concerned about the nationality, ethnicity, and language of the person they asked. Additionally, testing the knowledge archetype model it was found that there were no moderating factors. This indicates that a knowledge archetype that is common to all nationalities can be developed. Future research intends to develop a configurable technical based archetype - or avatar - that can be utilised by students as they enter university for implicit knowledge sharing purposes. This avatar will then be tested in multi-cultural business environment to assist tacit/implicit knowledge sharing across divisions and nation as well as languages and culture
Macroalgae Decrease Growth and Alter Microbial Community Structure of the Reef-Building Coral, Porites astreoides

As coral cover declines, macroalgae are becoming more common on tropical reefs. Interactions between these macroalgae and corals may alter the coral microbiome, which is thought to play an important role in colony health and survival. Together, such changes in benthic macroalgae and in the coral microbiome may result in a feedback mechanism that contributes to additional coral cover loss. To determine if macroalgae alter the coral microbiome, we conducted a field-based experiment in which the coral Porites astreoides was placed in competition with five species of macroalgae. Macroalgal contact increased variance in the coral-associated microbial community, and two algal species significantly altered microbial community composition. All macroalgae caused the disappearance of a γ-proteobacterium previously hypothesized to be an important mutualist of P. astreoides. Macroalgal contact also triggered: 1) increases or 2) decreases in microbial taxa already present in corals, 3) establishment of new taxa to the coral microbiome, and 4) vectoring and growth of microbial taxa from the macroalgae to the coral. Furthermore, macroalgal competition decreased coral growth rates by an average of 36.8%. Overall, this study found that competition between corals and certain species of macroalgae leads to an altered coral microbiome, providing a potential mechanism by which macroalgae-coral interactions reduce coral health and lead to coral loss on impacted reefs
Mechanism of activation of SGK3 by growth factors-via the Class 1 and Class 3 PI3Ks
Derailment of the PI3K-AGC protein kinase signalling network contributes to many human diseases including cancer. Recent work has revealed that the poorly studied AGC kinase family member, SGK3 promotes resistance to cancer therapies that target the Class 1 PI3K pathway, by substituting for loss of Akt kinase activity. SGK3 is recruited and activated at endosomes, by virtue of its PX domain binding to PtdIns(3)P. Here we demonstrate that endogenous SGK3 is rapidly activated by growth factors such as IGF1, through pathways involving both Class 1 and Class 3 PI3Ks. We provide evidence that IGF1 enhances endosomal PtdIns(3)P levels via a pathway involving the UV-RAG complex of hVPS34 Class 3 PI3K. Our data points towards IGF1 induced activation of Class 1 PI3K stimulating SGK3 through enhanced production of PtdIns(3)P resulting from the dephosphorylation of PtdIns(3,4,5)P3 Our findings are also consistent with activation of Class 1 PI3K promoting mTORC2 phosphorylation of SGK3 and with oncogenic Ras activating SGK3 solely through the Class 1 PI3K pathway. Our results highlight the versatility of upstream pathways that activate SGK3 and help explain how SGK3 substitutes for Akt following inhibition of Class 1 PI3K/Akt pathways. They also illustrate robustness of SGK3 activity that can remain active and counteract physiological conditions or stresses where either Class 1 or Class 3 PI3K pathways are inhibited.</p

1834. They were part of an involuntary migration of slaves, political prisoners and convicts, and they contributed to
the ethnic diversity of the present Cape Muslim population of South Africa. The history of the Cape Muslims has been
well documented and researched however no in-depth genetic studies have been undertaken. The aim of the present
study was to determine the respective African, Asian and European contributions to the mtDNA (maternal) and
Y-chromosomal (paternal) gene pool of the Cape Muslim population, by analyzing DNA samples of 100 unrelated
Muslim males born in the Cape Metropolitan area. A panel of six mtDNA and eight Y-chromosome SNP markers
were screened using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphisms (PCR-RFLP). Overall
admixture estimates for the maternal line indicated Asian (0.4168) and African mtDNA (0.4005) as the main contributors.
The admixture estimates for the paternal line, however, showed a predominance of the Asian contribution
(0.7852). The findings are in accordance with historical data on the origins of the early Cape Muslims.Web of Scienc

An evaluation of micro credit schemes of small and medium enterprise development authority (SMEDA).
ABSTRACT Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA) claims to provide a nutritious jump to the small farmers for getting more produce from their farm. The present study was conducted to evaluate the project support services for agriculture credit of SMEDA in collaboration with Bank of Punjab (BOP). The purpose of the study was to assess the impact of micro credit scheme of SMEDA and BOP on crop productivity in two union council of district Sheikhupura of Punjab province. One hundred and twenty farmers from the selected villages were interviewed. The results indicated that majority of the farmers (76.7%) meet their financial requirements through institutional credit. More than 60% farmers obtained loans for fertilizers and about 50% got credit for quality seed where as about 37% for pesticides/insecticides etc. it was further indicated that all the farmers used the loan for the purpose for which it was obtained
A review on substances and processes relevant for optical remote sensing of extremely turbid marine areas, with a focus on the Wadden Sea
The interpretation of optical remote sensing data of estuaries and tidal flat areas is hampered by optical complexity and often extreme turbidity. Extremely high concentrations of suspended matter, chlorophyll and dissolved organic matter, local differences, seasonal and tidal variations and resuspension are important factors influencing the optical properties in such areas. This review gives an overview of the processes in estuaries and tidal flat areas and the implications of these for remote sensing in such areas, using the Wadden Sea as a case study area. Results show that remote sensing research in extremely turbid estuaries and tidal areas is possible. However, this requires sensors with a large ground resolution, algorithms tuned for high concentrations of various substances and the local specific optical properties of these substances, a simultaneous detection of water colour and land-water boundaries, a very short time lag between acquisition of remote sensing and in situ data used for validation and sufficient geophysical and ecological knowledge of the area. © 2010 The Author(s)
Effect of lecirelin acetate, hCG or progesterone administration on day 7 post-insemination on conception rate and progesterone concentration in cross-bred cattle
The present study was designed to evaluate the effect of administration of lecirelin acetate, hCG and progesterone after AI on ovarian picture, serum progesterone concentrations and first service conception rate in cross-bred cattle. A total of 160 lactating cross bred (Friesian x Sahiwal) cattle were divided into 4 groups after AI. The groups were treated as follows: control (injected i.m with normal saline 2ml, n=40), d 7-LA (injected i.m with lecirelin acetate100 µg, n=40), d 7-hCG (injected with hCG 3300 IU, n=40) and d 7-P4 (injected i.m with Progesterone 0.5 mgdaily for 4 days, n=40) group. The hormonal treatments were given to animals on day 7 after AI. The ultrasonography and blood sampling was done before treatment and then 7 days later. All animals were examined for pregnancy through ultrasonography at 40 ± 1 day after AI. The diameter of SCL on 7 days after treatment was higher (P 4 treated cows did not differ from control cows. Formation of ACL was observed only in 50 % & 80 % cows in d 7-LA and d 7-hCG group respectively. No ACL was observed in control and d 7- P4 cattle on day 7 after treatment. The P4 concentrations were significantly higher (P 0.05) difference in FSCR was observed between control and d 7-P4 group. It was concluded that the use of hCG or LA, 7 days after AI is a beneficial tool to improve conception rate in cross-bred cattle whereas use of parental P4 post-breeding has no effect on SCL diameter and conception rate
Desiring Bollywood: Re-staging racism, exploring difference
In this article I engage with the insights that emerged through the making of Desiring Bollywood, a collaborative ethno-fiction project I produced in 2018. The project recruited academics, amateur actors, novice filmmakers, and enthusiastic university students to narrate the story of Jason, an aspiring actor and filmmaker from Nigeria who I first met in 2013 soon after his release from Tihar Prison in Delhi, India. My goals are two-fold: first, to share a few scenes from the film – embedded in this article as video clips – to broadly theorize the affordances and limits of what I call re-staging, the collaborative, performance-based multimodal method we devised and deployed to produce Desiring Bollywood. Second, and more central to the article, I aim to analyze these very same scenes to show how re-staging, as it offered participants involved in the project the opportunity to reflexively explore how Jason’s experiences of discrimination in Delhi and the aspirations and desires that led him there in the first place, create a rich site of analysis to engage with the nuances of anti-Black racism in India in a moment where ‘India-Africa’ economic relationships are on the rise.

En este artículo examino el entendimiento que surgió a través de la producción de Desiring Bollywood, un proyecto colaborativo de etno-ficción que realicé en 2018. El proyecto reclutó académicos, actores amateurs, productores cinematográficos novicios y entusiastas estudiantes universitarios para narrar la historia de Jason, un aspirante a actor y productor cinematográfico, de Nigeria a quien conocí en 2013, poco después de su puesta en libertad de la Prisión Tihar en Delhi, India. Mi propósito es doble: primero, compartir algunas escenas del filme – embebidas en este artículo como video clips– para teorizar ampliamente las affordances y límites de lo que llamo remontaje, el colaborativo método multimodal basado en performance, que nosotros ideamos y utilizamos para producir Desiring Bollywood. Segundo, y más central al artículo, tengo como objetivo analizar estas mismas escenas para mostrar cómo el remontaje, en la medida que ofreció a los participantes involucrados en el proyecto la oportunidad de explorar reflexivamente cómo las experiencias de Jason de discriminación en Delhi y las aspiraciones y deseos que lo llevaron allí en primer lugar, crea un sitio profundo de análisis para abordar los matices del racismo anti-negro en India en un momento donde las relaciones económicas “India-África” están en aumento
