Pneumonia due to mycoplasma in gnotobiotic mice. I. Pathogenicity of Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Mycoplasma salivarium, and Mycoplasma pulmonis for the lungs of conventional and gnotobiotic mice. J. Bacteriol. 92:1154–1163. 1966.—Two species of mycoplasma of human origin, Mycoplasma pneumoniae and M. salivarium, were tested for their ability to produce respiratory disease in the Ha/ICR mouse when inoculated by the intranasal route. The mouse pathogen M. pulmonis was studied as a positive control. Conventional and gnotobiotic Ha/ICR mice were employed, the latter to provide a system free from indigenous mycoplasma and bacteria. Pneumonia from which mycoplasma were isolated was produced in all groups of the conventional Ha/ICR mice, including those inoculated with sterile broth. Only M. pulmonis produced disease when inoculated intranasally into the gnotobiotic mice, and the gross and microscopic lesions resembled those described in conventional mice. The gnotobiotic mouse provided a tool to study the pathogenicity of different mycoplasma species, and indicated marked differences in host specificity that could not be clearly seen when conventional mice were used

[For the English abstract and full text of the article please see the attached PDF-File (English version follows Russian version)].ABSTRACT An intensive technological regime for increasing the stability of weak soils is proposed to ensure safety of the roadbed on the site with the eternally frozen base of the Northern latitudinal railway Salekhard-Nadym. It is shown that it is necessary to take into account talik zones at the design stage, which can cause various deformations. On the basis of the fundamental principles of the mechanics of frozen soils, technological regularities are established f o r increasing the strength characteristics which include the angle of internal friction and cohesion of soil with decreasing humidity and draining water from the active layer and talik beyond the construction site. The application of intensive technology for reinforcing the roadbed during the construction of routes in the permafrost zone is substantiated.

The search for new therapeutic options for the treatment of systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an urgent issue in rheumatology. The article presents the results of the double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled phase III clinical trial BCD-132-5/LIBERIUS on the efficacy and safety of divozilimab (BCD-132) in the treatment of SSc.Objective: to investigate the efficacy and safety of divozilimab in patients with SSc compared to placebo.Material and methods. After enrolment in the study, patients received divozilimab or placebo for 48 weeks, after which they were switched to an open-label divozilimab therapy until week 96.Results and discussion. Divozilimab was superior to placebo regarding the primary endpoint change in mRSS at week 48 compared to baseline, and the therapy had a positive effect on respiratory function parameters. Divozilimab treatment was well tolerated.Conclusion. Thus, divosilimab may represent a new therapeutic option for patients with SSc

The advances of modern medicine, prolonging the average life-span, and especially the recognition of medical rehabilitation as a vital part of the medical process, have created rapid development in the field among most of the countries worldwide. The dynamic process of the development in the fields of medical rehabilitation in Russian healthcare, has brought up questions about different outlooks, principles and processes of quality assessment in medical rehabilitation. Taking into consideration the differences in the organizational structures and professional tendencies applying the indicators of quality into rehabilitation practice can prove to be challenging. In the last years the Israeli health system has gained much experience working with different rehabilitation structures. The Obligatory State Insurance of the Israeli health system forced Health Funds to developed optimal indicators for the evaluation of the professional quality in rehabilitation. The accumulated knowledge can help in creating a system for the quality assessment in Russian Federation. Rehabilitation is characterized by a long list of professional performance aspects which are exposed to quality control. That is why it is common to define indicators separately for the structures, processes, and results. In different countries dissimilar aspect of quality are defined as indicators, but all of them are built on similar principles which focus on the simplicity and objectiveness of information gathering, minimal dependency on the character of the auditor, combining different forms of internal and external examination, and including systems of quality control by gathering questionnaires from the patients and their family members. The chosen quality indicators of the rehabilitation process need to reflect on the different sides of the professional treatment, stimulating a constant increase in quality on account of organizational activities in the industry in general and in separate departments in particular. The International Classification of Functioning (ICF) is widespread over many countries and constitutes the accepted paradigm in the field of medical rehabilitation, and with time may become the optimal platform for developing a system of quality control worldwide.</jats:p
