Mid-rapidity dependence of hadron production in ppp-p and AAA-A collisions

The calculation of inclusive spectra of pions produced in pppp and AAAA collisions as a function of rapidity yy is presented within the self-similarity approach. It is shown that at not large rapidities yy one can obtain the analytical form of the self-similarity function Π(y,pt)\Pi(y,p_t) dependent of yy and hadron transverse momentum ptp_t. A satisfactory description of data on the rapidity spectra at y|y|\leq 0.3 is illustrated within a good agreement. The universal energy dependence of these spectra is also shown.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure

Q2Q^2-dependence of backward pion multiplicity in neutrino-nucleus interactions

    Get PDF
The production of pions emitted backward in inelastic neutrino-nucleus interactions is analyzed within the impulse approximation in the framework of the dual parton model. We focus on the Q2Q^2-dependence of the multiplicity of negative pions, normalized to the total cross section of the reaction ν+Aμ+X\nu + A \to \mu + X. The inclusion of planar (one-Reggeon exchange) and cylindrical (one-Pomeron exchange) graphs leads to a multiplicity that decreases as Q2Q^2 increases, in agreement with recent measurements carried out at CERN by the NOMAD collaboration. A realistic treatment of the high momentum tail of the nucleon distribution in a nucleus also allows for a satisfactory description of the semi-inclusive spectrum of backward pions.Comment: 15 pages, 4 figure

Open charm and beauty production in hadron reactions

The production of charmed and beauty hadrons in proton-proton and proton-antiproton collisions at high energies is analyzed within the modified quark-gluon string model (QGSM) including the internal motion of quarks in colliding hadrons. It is shown that using both the QGSM and NLO QCD one can describe the experimental data rather successfully in a wide region of transverse momenta. We also present some predictions for the future experiments on the beauty baryon production in pppp collisions at LHC energies and on the charmed meson production in pˉp{\bar p}p reactions at GSI energies.Comment: 8 pages, 10 figures. Gluon distribution in proton at soft and hard pp collisions

We analyze the inclusive spectra of hadrons produced in pppp collisions at high energies in the mid-rapidity region within the soft QCD and perturbative QCD assuming the possible creation of the soft gluons at low intrinsic transverse momenta ktk_t. From the best description of the LHC data we found the parametrization of the unintegrated gluon distribution which at low ktk_t is different from the one obtained within the perturbative QCD.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures. Probing the deuteron structure at small N-N distances by cumulative pion production

The fragmentation of deuterons into pions emitted forward in the kinematic region forbidden for free nucleon-nucleon collisions is analyzed. It is shown that the inclusion of the non-nucleonic degrees of freedom in a deuteron results in a satisfactory description of the data for the inclusive pion spectrum and improves the description of the data about T20T_{20}. According to the data, T20T_{20} has very small positive values, less than 0.2, which contradicts the theoretical calculations ignoring these degrees of freedom.Comment: 3 pages, 2 postscript figures; to appear in the proceedings of Conference on Quarks and Nuclear Physics (QNP 2002), Julich, Germany, 9-14 Jun 200
