The Determinants Of Capital Flight: Evidence From MENA Countries
This paper examines the determinants of capital flight in seven Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries during the period of 1981-2008. The results are robust to four econometrics techniques: Ordinary least Squares, Fixed effects, Random Effects, and Seemingly Unrelated Regression Model. The empirical findings indicate that the capital flight in MENA countries is driven mainly by lag capital flight, external debt, foreign direct investment, real GDP growth rate and uncertainty. Based on these results, the paper recommends that governments in these countries should manage their external debt efficiently, and stabilize their monetary and macroeconomic policies in order to staunch capital flight

Cryptocurrencies and Finance Theories
Cryptocurrency (CCY) as a new key player in the currency system that has drawn the attention of scholars to examine its influence, relations and the opportunities that it may provide. However, a financial theoretical framework to connect CCY with financial theory is missing. This paper fills this gap by providing a review for the theoretical framework introduced in the literature to position CCY in investment and finance theories. This is done by studying the CCY literature and providing a critical feedback on the overall contributions in the area and possible venues for improvement. We report a need for a long-term analysis for CCY as this asset class is fairly new and sufficient data may not be available. Moreover, a better connection and linking with finance theories is required as it is significantly deficient. The promising potential of blockchain/ CCY stresses the need for interdisciplinary research including business, legal and information technology disciplines. In addition, the Covid-19 pandemic opens the door for further research to investigate the role of CCY as a hedge in the times of crises
Characterization of Thymol blue Radiochromic dosimeters for high dose applications
Thymol blue (TB) solutions and Thymol blue Polyvinyl Alcohol (TB-PVA) films have been introduced as Radiochromic dosimeter for high dose applications. The dosimeters were irradiated with gamma ray (60Co source) from 5 to 30 kGy for film, and from 0.150 kGy to 4 kGy for solution. The optical density of unirradiated and irradiated TB solution as well as TB-PVA film dosimeters were studied in terms of absorbance at 434 nm using UV/VIS spectrophotometer. The effects of scan temperature, light pre-gamma irradiation, dose rate, relative humidity and stability of the absorbance of solutions and films after irradiation were investigated. We found the dose sensitivity of TB solution and TB-PVA film dosimeters increases significantly with increases of the absorbed dose as well as with the increases of TB dye concentrations. The useful dose range of developed TB solutions and TB-PVA films dosimeters is in the range 0.125–1 kGy and of 5–20 kGy, respectively. Acute formation of lumbar discal cyst: what is the mechanism?
Lumbar discal cysts are extremely rare pathologies, with only few reports describing these lesions in the literature. Moreover, their definite pathogenesis is still unknown, with proposed theories based on radialogic and histologic findings. In this report, the authors present an acute formation of a discal cyst, which is reported for the first time. Also, we center our case on the discussion of the possible pathogenesis. Also, this is the first case of discal cyst reported in Turkey. A 67-year-old woman, whose complaints, and clinical and radiological findings demonstrated lumbar disc herniation with acute Modic 1 degererative changes of the adjacent end plates of L3-4 level. After medical and physical therapies, follow-up lumbar MRI has been taken to demonstrate a discal cyst formation on the adjacent intervertebral disc, showed cranially migrated cyst superior posterior on herniated disc, in 2 weeks period. The patient was treated by microsurgical resection of the cyst, and her complaints resolved completely
