The role of MUI as authoritative religiousagency, exactly, worsen religious belief conflicts by giving label"deviant" on new religious/stream/belief out of mainstream officialreligions. Hegemony interests of religious majority groups(organizations) as moral power that has the right to claim about thetruth in governmental system has jeopardize pluralism structures inIndonesia. Pluralism by MUI is forbidden with the reason of insultingreligious truths.     The research was based on rejection the widespread existence of the Majelis Tafsir AlQuran (MTA) in several districts in Central Java. Using a case study approach, this research was done in Tegalsari, Semarang. The findings of the research showed that the socio-religious interaction of MTA members with Tegalsari villagers created religious social conflict. This conflict came from different understanding of the sources of Islamic law (fiqh). MTA uses textual aproach to resolve the law by ignoring the sociological historical aspects. MTA rejects the use of local cultural jurisprudence in the codification of Islamic law, because they regard some activities such as tahlilan, death-related ceremonies, and slametan are bid'ah. The main root of the conflict is the MTA truth claim and its insentive and inappropriate method of preaching. MTA does not accept the truth of others

    Estimating Value-at-Risk using a Multivariate Copula-Based Volatility Model

    This paper proposes a multivariate copula-based volatility model for estimating value-at-Risk in banks of some selected European countries by combining Dynamic Conditional Correlation (DCC) multivariate GARCH (M-GARCH) volatility model and copula functions. Nonnormality in multivariate models is associated with the joint probability of the univariate models? marginal probabilities ? the joint probability of large market movements, referred to as tail dependence. In this paper, we use copula functions to model the tail dependence of large market movements and test the validity of our results by performing back-testing techniques. The results show that the copula-based approach provides better estimates than the common methods currently used and captures VaR well based on the differences in the numbers of exceptions produced during different observation periods at the same confidence level
