    How to Develop Character Education of Madrassa Students in Indonesia

    In the last decades, the teachers criticized for failing to integrate the knowledge in the behavior of virtue. Therefore the character education is always considered in every design education, including in madrassas. The character education is the deliberate attempt to influence the behavior of students through customizing repeatedly. making it easy to do virtue and avoid crime. The research has focused on the approach to character education at madrassa. The qualitative method by interviewing, observation, and focus groups have been used in this study.A total of 16 teachers at four madrassas in South Sulawesi has been selected through purposive Sampling. The research suggest: Madrassa teachers have not managed to practice the concept of teaching character. Both conceptually and contextually. The failure of conceptually caused teachers do not embed character values are extracted from the behavior of student's virtue. While the failure of the contextually is has caused teachers failed in an attempt to develop character values, such as social relationships, honesty, and discipline. In addition, the teachers are not managed to practice courteous and not empowered to detain students of behavior lie

    Power-law distributions from additive preferential redistributions

    We introduce a non-growth model that generates the power-law distribution with the Zipf exponent. There are N elements, each of which is characterized by a quantity, and at each time step these quantities are redistributed through binary random interactions with a simple additive preferential rule, while the sum of quantities is conserved. The situation described by this model is similar to those of closed NN-particle systems when conservative two-body collisions are only allowed. We obtain stationary distributions of these quantities both analytically and numerically while varying parameters of the model, and find that the model exhibits the scaling behavior for some parameter ranges. Unlike well-known growth models, this alternative mechanism generates the power-law distribution when the growth is not expected and the dynamics of the system is based on interactions between elements.     We examine a two-dimensional electron waveguide with a cut-circle cavity and conical leads. By considering Wigner delay times and the Landauer-B\"{u}ttiker conductance for this system, we probe the effects of the closed billiard energy spectrum on scattering properties in the limit of weakly coupled leads.     We study classical and quantum dynamics of a particle in a circular billiard with a straight cut. This system can be integrable, nonintegrable with soft chaos, or nonintegrable with hard chaos, as we vary the size of the cut.     Trap-Assisted Charge Injection into Large Bandgap Polymer Semiconductors.

    The trap-assisted charge injection in polyfluorene-poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) model systems with an Al or Al/LiF cathode is investigated. We find that inserting 1.3 nm LiF increases electron and hole injections simultaneously and the increase of holes is greater than electrons. The evolution of internal interfaces within polymer light-emitting diodes is observed by transmission electron microscopy, which reveals that the introduction of LiF improves the interface stability at both the cathode (cathode/polymer) and the anode (indium tin oxide (ITO)/PEDOT:PSS). Above-mentioned experimental results have been compared to the numerical simulations with a revised Davids model and potential physical mechanisms for the trap-assisted charge injection are discussed

    Aharonov-Bohm effect and resonances in the circular quantum billiard with two leads

    We calculate the conductance through a circular quantum billiard with two leads and a point magnetic flux at the center. The boundary element method is used to solve the Schrodinger equation of the scattering problem, and the Landauer formula is used to calculate the conductance from the transmission coefficients. We use two different shapes of leads, straight and conic, and find that the conductance is affected by lead geometry, the relative positions of the leads and the magnetic flux. The Aharonov-Bohm effect can be seen from shifts and splittings of fluctuations. When the flux is equal to (h/2e) and the angle between leads is 180 degree, the conductance tends to be suppressed to zero in the low energy range due to the Aharonov-Bohm effect.Comment: LaTeX2e, 8 pages, 6 figures, submitted to Phys.     The importance of mitochondria as oxygen sensors as well as producers of ATP and reactive oxygen species (ROS) has recently become a focal point of cancer research. However, in the case of melanoma, little information is available to what extent cellular bioenergetics processes contribute to the progression of the disease and related to it, whether oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) has a prominent role in advanced melanoma. In this study we demonstrate that compared to melanocytes, metastatic melanoma cells have elevated levels of OXPHOS. Furthermore, treating metastatic melanoma cells with the drug, Elesclomol, which induces cancer cell apoptosis through oxidative stress, we document by way of stable isotope labeling with amino acids in cell culture (SILAC) that proteins participating in OXPHOS are downregulated. We also provide evidence that melanoma cells with high levels of glycolysis are more resistant to Elesclomol. We further show that Elesclomol upregulates hypoxia inducible factor 1-α (HIF-1α), and that prolonged exposure of melanoma cells to this drug leads to selection of melanoma cells with high levels of glycolysis. Taken together, our findings suggest that molecular targeting of OXPHOS may have efficacy for advanced melanoma. © 2012 Barbi de Moura et al

    evidence from a systematic review and pooled lesion analysis

    Despite claims that lesional mania is associated with right-hemisphere lesions, supporting evidence is scarce, and association with specific brain areas has not been demonstrated. Here, we aimed to test whether focal brain lesions in lesional mania are more often right- than left-sided, and if lesions converge on areas relevant to mood regulation. We thus performed a systematic literature search (PROSPERO registration CRD42016053675) on PubMed and Web-Of-Science, using terms that reflect diagnoses and structures of interest, as well as lesional mechanisms. Two researchers reviewed the articles separately according to PRISMA Guidelines, selecting reports of adult-onset hypomania, mania or mixed state following a focal brain lesion, for pooled-analyses of individual patient data. Eligible lesion images were manually traced onto the corresponding MNI space slices, and lesion topography analyzed using standard brain atlases. Using this approach, data from 211 lesional mania patients was extracted from 114 reports. Among 201 cases with focal lesions, more patients had lesions involving exclusively the right (60.7%) than exclusively the left (11.4%) hemisphere. In further analyses of 56 eligible lesion images, while findings should be considered cautiously given the potential for selection bias of published lesion images, right-sided predominance of lesions was confirmed across multiple brain regions, including the temporal lobe, fusiform gyrus and thalamus. These, and several frontal lobe areas, were also identified as preferential lesion sites in comparisons with control lesions. Such pooled-analyses, based on the most comprehensive dataset of lesional mania available to date, confirm a preferential association with right-hemisphere lesions, while suggesting that several brain areas/circuits, relevant to mood regulation, are most frequently affected.publishersversionpublishe
