Quark-mass dependence of baryon resonances
We study the quark-mass dependence of J^P = \frac12^- s-wave and J^P =
\frac32^- d-wave baryon resonances. Parameter-free results are obtained in
terms of the leading order chiral Lagrangian. In the 'heavy' SU(3) limit with
m_\pi =m_K \simeq 500 MeV the s-wave resonances turn into bound states forming
two octets plus a singlet representations of the SU(3) group. Similarly the
d-wave resonances turn into bound states forming an octet and a decuplet in
this limit. A contrasted result is obtained in the 'light' SU(3) limit with
m_\pi =m_K \simeq 140 MeV for which no resonances exist.Comment: 8 pages, three figures, talk presented at HYP200
A 2-set-up Routley-Meyer Semantics for the 4-valued Relevant Logic E4
The logic BN4 can be considered as the 4-valued logic of the relevant conditional and the logic E4, as the 4-valued logic of (relevant) entailment. The aim of this paper is to endow E4 with a 2-set-up Routley-Meyer semantics. It is proved that E4 is strongly sound and complete w.r.t. this semantics
The accommodation of de university teaching of the discipline Financial and Tax Law
to the new parameters of the European Higher Education, known as Bologna process, it
has become necessary to enable methodologies and teaching tools that facilitate the
introduction of teaching active, autonomous, learning centered and participatory.
Between the variety of teaching methodologies, has been chosen by problem based
learning, being the main objective of our experience, confront the student with practical
cases that occur in the daily work of a tax advisor. The results were very satisfactory
because the great involvement of the group of students, and the positive qualifications
obtained at the end of the evaluation process

Dynamics and stability of radiation-driven double ablation front structures.
The dynamics of double ablation front (DAF) structures is studied for planar targets with moderate atomic number ablators. These structures are obtained in hydrodynamic simulations for various materials and laser intensities and are qualitatively characterized during the acceleration stage of the target. The importance of the radiative transport for the DAF dynamics is then demonstrated. Simulated hydrodynamic profiles are compared with a theoretical model, showing the consistency of the model and the relevant parameters for the dynamics description. The stability of DAF structures with respect to two-dimensional perturbations is studied using two different approaches: one considers the assumptions of the theoretical model and the other one a more complete physics. The numerical simulations performed with both approaches demonstrate good agreement of dispersion curve
The peculiar horizontal branch morphology of the Galactic globular clusters NGC 6388 and NGC 6441: new insights from UV observations
Context. In this paper we present multiband optical and UV Hubble Space Telescope photometry of the two Galactic globular clusters NGC 6388 and NGC 6441.
Aims. We investigate the properties of their anomalous horizontal branches in different photometric planes in order to shed light on the nature of the physical mechanism(s) responsible for the existence of an extended blue tail and of a slope in the horizontal branch, visible in all the color-magnitude diagrams.
Methods. New photometric data have been collected and carefully reduced. Empirical data have been compared with updated stellar models of low-mass, metal-rich, He-burning structures, transformed to the observational plane with appropriate model atmospheres.
Results. We have obtained the first UV color-magnitude diagrams for NGC 6388 and NGC 6441. These diagrams confirm previous results, obtained in optical bands, about the presence of a sizeable stellar population of extremely hot horizontal branch stars. At least in NGC 6388, we find a clear indication that at the hot end of the horizontal branch the distribution of stars forms a hook-like feature, closely resembling those observed in NGC 2808 and Omega Cen. We briefly review the theoretical scenarios that have been suggested for interpreting this observational feature. We also investigate the tilted horizontal branch morphology and provide further evidence that supports early suggestions that this feature cannot be interpreted as an effect of differential reddening. We show that a possible solution of the puzzle is to assume that a small fraction - ranging between 10-20% - of the stellar population in the two clusters is strongly helium-enriched (Y ~ 0.40 in NGC 6388 and Y ~ 0.35 in NGC 6441). The occurrence of a spread in the He abundance between the canonical value (Y ~ 0.26) and the quoted upper limits can significantly help in explaining the "whole" morphology of the horizontal branch and the pulsational properties of the variable stars in the target clusters
Significados institucionales de la demostración : implicaciones para la educación matemática
In this paper the following main features of the meaning of proof in different institutional contexts, logic and foundations of mathematics, professional mathematics, experimental sciences, daily life and teaching of mathematics are analysed. This analysis suggests that the study of the epistemological and didactical problems involved in the teaching of proof in school mathematics should be carried out within the most general framework of human argumentative practices. A possible explanation for some students' cognitive conflict and difficulties with mathematical proof is the fact that at the different teaching levels and various stages of personal mathematical activity, the institutional meanings of proof are intertwined
