    Interaction between M2-branes and Bulk Form Fields

    We construct the interaction terms between the world-volume fields of multiple M2-branes and the 3- and 6-form fields in the context of ABJM theory with U(NN)×\timesU(NN) gauge symmetry. A consistency check is made in the simplest case of a single M2-brane, i.e, our construction matches the known effective action of M2-brane coupled to antisymmetric 3-form field. We show that when dimensionally reduced, our couplings coincide with the effective action of D2-branes coupled to R-R 3- and 5-form fields in type IIA string theory. We also comment on the relation between a coupling with a specific 6-form field configuration and the supersymmetry preserving mass deformation in ABJM theory.Comment: 30 pages, version to appear in JHE

    Mass-Deformed Super Yang-Mills Theories from M2-Branes with Flux

    We consider (2+1)(2+1)-dimensional mass-deformed SYM theories and their M-theory origin. These are obtained from MP Higgsing of ABJM theory with constant flux and fixing the mass terms via supersymmetry completion. Depending on the choice of the flux, we obtain N=1{\cal N}=1, N=2{\cal N}=2, and N=4{\cal N}=4 mass-deformed SYM theories. For each of these cases we solve the vacuum equation and obtain the fuzzy two sphere solution for the first two cases. We also discuss the D-brane interpretation of the obtained mass-deformed SYM theories.Comment: 22 pages, no figure, vacuum solutions are more generalized, published version in JHE

    Non-relativistic Matrix Inflation

    We reconsider a string theoretic inflationary model, where inflation is driven by nn multiple coincident D3D3-branes in the finite nn limit. We show that the finite nn action can be continued to the limit of large nn, where it converges to the action for a wrapped D5D5-brane with nn units of U(1) flux. This provides an important consistency check of the scenario and allows for more control over certain back-reaction effects. We determine the most general form of the action for a specific sub-class of models and examine the non-relativistic limits of the theory where the branes move at speeds much less than the speed of light. The non-Abelian nature of the world-volume theory implies that the inflaton field is matrix valued and this results in modifications to the slow-roll parameters and Hubble-flow equations. A specific small field model of inflation is investigated where the branes move out of an AdS throat, and observational constraints are employed to place bounds on the background fluxes.Comment: 25 page

    Compared to the higher fungi (Dikarya), taxonomic and evolutionary studies on the basal clades of fungi are fewer in number. Thus, the generic boundaries and higher ranks in the basal clades of fungi are poorly known. Recent DNA based taxonomic studies have provided reliable and accurate information. It is therefore necessary to compile all available information since basal clades genera lack updated checklists or outlines. Recently, Tedersoo et al. (MycoKeys 13:1--20, 2016) accepted Aphelidiomycota and Rozellomycota in Fungal clade. Thus, we regard both these phyla as members in Kingdom Fungi. We accept 16 phyla in basal clades viz. Aphelidiomycota, Basidiobolomycota, Blastocladiomycota, Calcarisporiellomycota, Caulochytriomycota, Chytridiomycota, Entomophthoromycota, Glomeromycota, Kickxellomycota, Monoblepharomycota, Mortierellomycota, Mucoromycota, Neocallimastigomycota, Olpidiomycota, Rozellomycota and Zoopagomycota. Thus, 611 genera in 153 families, 43 orders and 18 classes are provided with details of classification, synonyms, life modes, distribution, recent literature and genomic data. Moreover, Catenariaceae Couch is proposed to be conserved, Cladochytriales Mozl.-Standr. is emended and the family Nephridiophagaceae is introduced
