Decays of and into vector and pseudoscalar meson and the pseudoscalar glueball- mixing
We introduce a parametrization scheme for where
the effects of SU(3) flavor symmetry breaking and doubly OZI-rule violation
(DOZI) can be parametrized by certain parameters with explicit physical
interpretations. This scheme can be used to clarify the glueball-
mixing within the pseudoscalar mesons. We also include the contributions from
the electromagnetic (EM) decays of and via
. Via study of the isospin violated
channels, such as , ,
and , reasonable constraints on the EM decay
contributions are obtained. With the up-to-date experimental data for
, and , etc, we arrive at a consistent description of the mentioned
processes with a minimal set of parameters. As a consequence, we find that
there exists an overall suppression of the form factors,
which sheds some light on the long-standing " puzzle". By determining
the glueball components inside the pseudoscalar and in
three different glueball- mixing schemes, we deduce that the lowest
pseudoscalar glueball, if exists, has rather small component, and it

Safety and efficacy of vismodegib in patients aged ≥65 years with advanced basal cell carcinoma.
Because many patients with unresectable basal cell carcinoma (BCC) are aged ≥65 years, this study explores the efficacy and safety of vismodegib in these patients with locally advanced (la) or metastatic (m) basal cell carcinoma (BCC) in the ERIVANCE BCC trial and the expanded access study (EAS).We compared patients aged ≥65 years to patients aged <65 years taking vismodegib 150 mg/day, using descriptive statistics for response and safety. Patients aged ≥65 years (laBCC/mBCC) were enrolled in ERIVANCE BCC (33/14) and EAS (27/26). Investigator-assessed best overall response rate in patients ≥65 and <65 years was 46.7%/35.7% and 72.7%/52.6% (laBCC/mBCC), respectively, in ERIVANCE BCC and 45.8%/33.3% and 46.9%/28.6%, respectively, in EAS. These differences were not clinically meaningful. Safety was similar in both groups, although those aged ≥65 years had a higher percentage of grade 3-5 adverse events than those aged <65 years. What determines pension insurance participation in China?: triangulation and the intertwined relationship among employers, employees and the government
The current study draws on the Advocacy Coalition Framework to examine what determines employees’ pension participation in China. For the purpose of exploring which employees actually receive pension coverage and why, econometric analysis was conducted with China’s Employer–Employee Matched Survey data (N = 3412). A variety of both individual factors, ranging from age and Hukou status to job characteristics, and macro factors, including interprovincial migration and level of economic development, are all found to predict insurance coverage. Qualitative research results contextualize these findings by discussing the often ambivalent and triangulated relations among employers, employees and government. These three groups primarily use shared core policy beliefs to structure their interactions in the form of advocacy coalitions. Various types of cross-coalition interaction, including negotiation, cooperation and conflict, are examined. These findings carry both theoretical and policy implications
TWAM: A Certifying Abstract Machine for Logic Programs
Type-preserving (or typed) compilation uses typing derivations to certify
correctness properties of compilation. We have designed and implemented a
type-preserving compiler for a simply-typed dialect of Prolog we call T-Prolog.
The crux of our approach is a new certifying abstract machine which we call the
Typed Warren Abstract Machine (TWAM). The TWAM has a dependent type system
strong enough to specify the semantics of a logic program in the logical
framework LF. We present a soundness metatheorem which constitutes a partial
correctness guarantee: well-typed programs implement the logic program
specified by their type. This metatheorem justifies our design and

A Model of Cooperative Threads
We develop a model of concurrent imperative programming with threads. We
focus on a small imperative language with cooperative threads which execute
without interruption until they terminate or explicitly yield control. We
define and study a trace-based denotational semantics for this language; this
semantics is fully abstract but mathematically elementary. We also give an
equational theory for the computational effects that underlie the language,
including thread spawning. We then analyze threads in terms of the free algebra

COLD GASS, an IRAM Legacy Survey of Molecular Gas in Massive Galaxies: II. The non-universality of the Molecular Gas Depletion Timescale
We study the relation between molecular gas and star formation in a
volume-limited sample of 222 galaxies from the COLD GASS survey, with
measurements of the CO(1-0) line from the IRAM 30m telescope. The galaxies are
at redshifts 0.025<z<0.05 and have stellar masses in the range
10.0<log(M*/Msun)<11.5. The IRAM measurements are complemented by deep Arecibo
HI observations and homogeneous SDSS and GALEX photometry. A reference sample
that includes both UV and far-IR data is used to calibrate our estimates of
star formation rates from the seven optical/UV bands. The mean molecular gas
depletion timescale, tdep(H2), for all the galaxies in our sample is 1 Gyr,
however tdep(H2) increases by a factor of 6 from a value of ~0.5 Gyr for
galaxies with stellar masses of 10^10 Msun to ~3 Gyr for galaxies with masses
of a few times 10^11 Msun. In contrast, the atomic gas depletion timescale
remains contant at a value of around 3 Gyr. This implies that in high mass
galaxies, molecular and atomic gas depletion timescales are comparable, but in
low mass galaxies, molecular gas is being consumed much more quickly than
atomic gas. The strongest dependences of tdep(H2) are on the stellar mass of
the galaxy (parameterized as log tdep(H2)= (0.36+/-0.07)(log M* -
10.70)+(9.03+/-0.99)), and on the specific star formation rate. A single
tdep(H2) versus sSFR relation is able to fit both "normal" star-forming
galaxies in our COLD GASS sample, as well as more extreme starburst galaxies
(LIRGs and ULIRGs), which have tdep(H2) < 10^8 yr. Normal galaxies at z=1-2 are
displaced with respect to the local galaxy population in the tdep(H2) versus
sSFR plane and have molecular gas depletion times that are a factor of 3-5
times longer at a given value of sSFR due to their significantly larger gas

Light-Cone Quantization and Hadron Structure
In this talk, I review the use of the light-cone Fock expansion as a
tractable and consistent description of relativistic many-body systems and
bound states in quantum field theory and as a frame-independent representation
of the physics of the QCD parton model. Nonperturbative methods for computing
the spectrum and LC wavefunctions are briefly discussed. The light-cone Fock
state representation of hadrons also describes quantum fluctuations containing
intrinsic gluons, strangeness, and charm, and, in the case of nuclei, "hidden
color". Fock state components of hadrons with small transverse size, such as
those which dominate hard exclusive reactions, have small color dipole moments
and thus diminished hadronic interactions; i.e., "color transparency". The use
of light-cone Fock methods to compute loop amplitudes is illustrated by the
example of the electron anomalous moment in QED. In other applications, such as
the computation of the axial, magnetic, and quadrupole moments of light nuclei,
the QCD relativistic Fock state description provides new insights which go well

Qualitative risk assessment of introduction of anisakid larvae in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) farms and commercialization of products infected with viable nematodes
A Fokker-Planck formalism for diffusion with finite increments and absorbing boundaries
Gaussian white noise is frequently used to model fluctuations in physical
systems. In Fokker-Planck theory, this leads to a vanishing probability density
near the absorbing boundary of threshold models. Here we derive the boundary
condition for the stationary density of a first-order stochastic differential
equation for additive finite-grained Poisson noise and show that the response
properties of threshold units are qualitatively altered. Applied to the
integrate-and-fire neuron model, the response turns out to be instantaneous
rather than exhibiting low-pass characteristics, highly non-linear, and
asymmetric for excitation and inhibition. The novel mechanism is exhibited on
the network level and is a generic property of pulse-coupled systems of
