    A new Rhodococcus aetherivorans strain isolated from lubricant-contaminated soil as a prospective phenol biodegrading agent

    Microbe-based decontamination of phenol-polluted environments has significant advantages over physical and chemical approaches by being relatively cheaper and ensuring complete phenol degradation. There is a need to search for commercially prospective bacterial strains that are resistant to phenol and other co-pollutants, e.g. oil hydrocarbons, in contaminated environments, and able to carry out efficient phenol biodegradation at a variable range of concentrations. This research characterizes the phenol-biodegrading ability of a new actinobacteria strain isolated from a lubricant-contaminated soil environment. Phenotypic and phylogenetic analyses showed that the novel strain UCM Ac-603 belonged to the species Rhodococcus aetherivorans, and phenol degrading ability was quantitatively characterized for the first time. R. aetherivorans UCM Ac-603 tolerated and assimilated phenol (100% of supplied concentration) and various hydrocarbons (56.2–94.4%) as sole carbon sources. Additional nutrient supplementation was not required for degradation and this organism could grow at a phenol concentration of 500 mg L −1 without inhibition. Complete phenol assimilation occurred after 4 days at an initial concentration of 1750 mg L −1 for freely-suspended cells and at 2000 mg L −1 for vermiculite-immobilized cells: 99.9% assimilation of phenol was possible from a total concentration of 3000 mg L −1 supplied at daily fractional phenol additions of 750 mg L −1 over 4 days. In terms of phenol degradation rates, R. aetherivorans UCM Ac-602 showed efficient phenol degradation over a wide range of initial concentrations with the rates (e.g. 35.7 mg L −1 h −1 at 500 mg L −1 phenol, and 18.2 mg L −1 h −1 at 1750 mg L −1 phenol) significantly exceeding (1.2–5 times) reported data for almost all other phenol-assimilating bacteria. Such efficient phenol degradation ability compared to currently known strains and other beneficial characteristics of R. aetherivorans UCM Ac-602 suggest it is a promising candidate for bioremediation of phenol-contaminated environments. </p

    Clinicopathological Profile and Surgical Treatment of Abdominal Tuberculosis: A Single Centre Experience in Northwestern Tanzania.

    Abdominal tuberculosis continues to be a major public health problem worldwide and poses diagnostic and therapeutic challenges to general surgeons practicing in resource-limited countries. This study was conducted to describe the clinicopathological profile and outcome of surgical treatment of abdominal tuberculosis in our setting and compare with what is described in literature. A prospective descriptive study of patients who presented with abdominal tuberculosis was conducted at Bugando Medical Centre (BMC) in northwestern Tanzania from January 2006 to February 2012. Ethical approval to conduct the study was obtained from relevant authorities. Statistical data analysis was performed using SPSS version 17.0. Out of 256 patients enrolled in the study, males outnumbered females. The median age was 28 years (range = 16-68 years). The majority of patients (77.3%) had primary abdominal tuberculosis. A total of 127 (49.6%) patients presented with intestinal obstruction, 106 (41.4%) with peritonitis, 17 (6.6%) with abdominal masses and 6 (2.3%) patients with multiple fistulae in ano. Forty-eight (18.8%) patients were HIV positive. A total of 212 (82.8%) patients underwent surgical treatment for abdominal tuberculosis. Bands /adhesions (58.5%) were the most common operative findings. Ileo-caecal region was the most common bowel involved in 122 (57.5%) patients. Release of adhesions and bands was the most frequent surgical procedure performed in 58.5% of cases. Complication and mortality rates were 29.7% and 18.8% respectively. The overall median length of hospital stay was 32 days and was significantly longer in patients with complications (p < 0.001). Advanced age (age ≥ 65 years), co-morbid illness, late presentation, HIV positivity and CD4+ count < 200 cells/μl were statistically significantly associated with mortality (p < 0.0001). The follow up of patients were generally poor as only 37.5% of patients were available for follow up at twelve months after discharge. Abdominal tuberculosis constitutes a major public health problem in our environment and presents a diagnostic challenge requiring a high index of clinical suspicion. Early diagnosis, early anti-tuberculous therapy and surgical treatment of the associated complications are essential for survival

    Pengembangan Smart App Creator untuk Meningkatkan Literasi Peserta Didik pada Mata Pelajaran IPS di Sekolah Dasar

    The reading literacy ability of the fifth grade PAM Pilot State Elementary School students is low because their willingness to read is also low. This study aims to develop learning media to increase students\u27 reading interest. The media developed is the Smart App Creator which contains material on cultural diversity in South Sulawesi Province. This research is for the fifth grade students of the PAM Pilot State Elementary School for the 2020/2021 academic year. This research method is the Research and Development research method referring to the ADDIE development model (analyze, design, development, implementation, evaluation). The results obtained from the response questionnaire are 6 students or 21.43% good category, and 22 students or 78.57% very good category. Students gave a positive response to the Smart App Creator learning media in social studies subjects. The results of the literacy improvement test are 10 students or 35.71% with a score of 100, 5 students or 17.86% with a score of 90, and 13 students or 46,43% with a score of 80. From these results, it can be seen that there is an increase in the literacy of class students. V PAM Pilot State Elementary School uses the Smart App Creator learning media in social studies subjectsKemampuan literasi membaca peserta didikkelas V Sekolah Dasar Negeri Percontohan PAM rendah karena kemauan membacanya mereka juga rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan minat baca peserta didik. Media yang dikembangkan  adalah Smart App Creator yang berisikan materi keberagaman budaya di Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan. Penelitian ini untuk peserta didik kelas V Sekolah Dasar Negeri Percontohan PAM tahun pelajaran 2020/2021. Metode penelitian ini yaitu metode penelitian Reseach and Development mengacu pada model pengembangan ADDIE (analyze, design, development, implementation, evaluation). Hasil yang diperoleh dari angket respon yaitu 6 peserta didik atau 21,43% kategori baik, dan 22 peserta didik atau 78,57% kategori sangat baik. Peserta didik memberikan respon yang positif terhadap media pembelajaran Smart App Creator pada mata pelajaran IPS. Hasil tes peningkatan literasi yaitu 10 peserta didik atau 35,71% nilai 100, 5 peserta didik atau 17,86% nilai 90, dan 13 peserta didik atau 46,43% nilai 80. Dari hasil ini dapat diketahui terdapat peningkatan literasi peserta didik kelas V Sekolah Dasar Negeri Percontohan PAM menggunakan media pembelajaran Smart App Creator pada mata pelajaran IPS

    Cybersecurity is increasingly becoming a critical concern as the complexity and frequency of cyber-attacks continue to rise. Machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) have emerged as powerful tools to enhance cybersecurity systems, offering dynamic capabilities in real-time threat detection, anomaly detection, and intrusion prevention. This article (45) presents a systematic review of the applications of ML and DL in cybersecurity, adhering to the PRISMA guidelines. The review covers several key domains, including network security, cloud security, and Internet of Things (IoT) security, highlighting how ML/DL models like convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and recurrent neural networks (RNNs) outperform traditional rule-based systems. It also addresses challenges such as adversarial attacks, data privacy concerns, and the computational resource demands of DL models. Current solutions like adversarial training, federated learning, and model optimization techniques are examined for their potential to mitigate these issues. The findings suggest that while ML/DL technologies hold great promise, further research and innovation are necessary to overcome the inherent challenges, ensuring that these systems can be deployed effectively and securely in real-world environments

    Metode peramalan Fuzzy Time Series (FTS) merupakan salah satu metode peramalan yang paling banyakdigunakan terutama untuk mengolah data dengan tingkat variasi tinggi dan tidak linier terhadap waktu.Namun, peluang untuk mengembangkan dan memperbaiki kinerja peramalan dengan menggunakan metodeFTS masih terbuka lebar. Kinerja suatu metode peramalan dapat dilihat dari distribusi error-nya. FTS tidakmelihat dan tidak memilah jenis data input seperti apa yang akan diprosesnya menjadi suatu nilaiperamalan, apakah data input-nya memiliki variasi kecil atau besar, atau memiliki data pencilan ( outlier),semuanya di proses untuk menjadi nilai peramalan. Tentu saja jika data input memiliki pencilan, makapencilan itu dapat merusak distribusi error sehingga menjadikan kinerja peramalannya menjadi tidakbagus.Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan kinerja peramalan FTS adalah dengan melakukan filterisasi data-datapencilan. Dalam penelitian ini akan dilakukan identifikasi pencilan dengan metode Cook’s Distance,leverage value, DfFITS dan Boxplot untuk meningkatkan kinerja peramalan FTS yang diaplikasikan padaperamalan. Hasil penelitian akan dilakukan observasi perhitungan untuk menentukan metode identifikasipencilan yang paling optimal meningkatkan kinerja peramalan FTS, yaitu yang paling kecil distribusierror-nya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode yang terbaik untuk memperbaiki kinerja FTSadalah Metode Cook’s Distance dengan nilai MSE dan MAPE yang paling kecil

Apabila seorang telah meninggal dunia, hendaklah seorang yang merupakan keluarga yang sesama jenis kelaminnya agar mesti melakukan kewajibannya terhadap jenazah tersebut yaitu yaitu mempersiapkannya, memandikannya dan mengkafani. semua itu adalah perintah agama yang ditujukan kepada umat Islam sebagai kelompok masyarakat. Jika perintah itu telah dipenuhi oleh sebagian dari mereka sebagaimana mestinya, maka kewajiban menunaikan perintah itu berarti telah dilunasinya, kewajiban ini dalam istilah agama disebut fardhu kifayah. Akan sangat disayangkan bagi seluruh anggota kelompok muslim jika tidak ada orang dalam kelompok ini yang cukup mumpuni untuk melakukan fardhu kifayah seputar pemeliharaan jenazah di Desa Pattimpa.     Implementation of augmented reality on historical monuments in Gorontalo Province

    Several historical monument buildings in the city of Gorontalo with important colonial historical features have been designated as cultural reserves. The unavailability of information media that can be accessed by visitors so that visitors do not know in detail about the historical place visited, by implementing augmented reality (AR) technology as access to information media using multimedia development life cycle (MDLC) methods, visitors can access information freely and in real time, by presenting information and also displaying three-dimensional (3D) monument buildings with android devices. Based on research conducted, the design of AR applications is used to create an information media, and also one of the methods of introducing gorontalo historical monuments that can be used for prospective visitors outside the area and within the area.     Android Radio Streaming Apps for Songgolangit FM Ponorogo

    Songgolangit FM Radio is one of the information media in Ponorogo society. The broadcast signal has limited covered areas because of the geographical condition of Ponorogo. Then, the other media is needed to solve a problem. This research aims to expand the broadcast area using Android radio streaming apps. This research used the waterfall steps. The test using black box shows that the apps running well and have no error. The feedback from Songgolangit FM peoples expected that these apps hope could expand new user with especially to Android users. These apps can be download by all Android phone through the Google Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amoled.radiosonggolangit&hl=en). On the next research can measure the effectivity of radio streaming Android apps. Besides, future research also can develop its apps in other operating systems such as iOS, Tizen, Hongmeng and Blackberry mobile apps
