A 125 GeV SM-like Higgs in the MSSM and the rate
We consider the possibility of a Standard Model (SM)-like Higgs in the
context of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), with a mass of
about 125 GeV and with a production times decay rate into two photons which is
similar or somewhat larger than the SM one. The relatively large value of the
SM-like Higgs mass demands stops in the several hundred GeV mass range with
somewhat large mixing, or a large hierarchy between the two stop masses in the
case that one of the two stops is light. We find that, in general, if the
heaviest stop mass is smaller than a few TeV, the rate of gluon fusion
production of Higgs bosons decaying into two photons tends to be somewhat
suppressed with respect to the SM one in this region of parameters. However, we
show that an enhancement of the photon decay rate may be obtained for light
third generation sleptons with large mixing, which can be naturally obtained
for large values of and sizable values of the Higgsino mass

Light MSSM Higgs boson mass to three-loop accuracy
The light CP even Higgs boson mass, Mh, is calculated to three-loop accuracy
within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). The result is
expressed in terms of DRbar parameters and implemented in the computer program
H3m. The calculation is based on the proper approximations and their
combination in various regions of the parameter space. The three-loop effects
to Mh are typically of the order of a few hundred MeV and opposite in sign to
the two-loop corrections. The remaining theory uncertainty due to higher order

Supersymmetric Higgs Yukawa Couplings to Bottom Quarks at next-to-next-to-leading Order
The effective bottom Yukawa couplings are analyzed for the minimal
supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model at two-loop accuracy within
SUSY-QCD. They include the resummation of the dominant corrections for large
values of tg(beta). In particular the two-loop SUSY-QCD corrections to the
leading SUSY-QCD and top-induced SUSY-electroweak contributions are addressed.

Viability of MSSM scenarios at very large tan(beta)
We investigate the MSSM with very large tan(beta) > 50, where the fermion
masses are strongly affected by loop-induced couplings to the "wrong" Higgs,
imposing perturbative Yukawa couplings and constraints from flavour physics.
Performing a low-energy scan of the MSSM with flavour-blind soft terms, we find
that the branching ratio of B->tau nu and the anomalous magnetic moment of the
muon are the strongest constraints at very large tan(beta) and identify the
viable regions in parameter space. Furthermore we determine the scale at which
the perturbativity of the Yukawa sector breaks down, depending on the
low-energy MSSM parameters. Next, we analyse the very large tan(beta) regime of
General Gauge Mediation (GGM) with a low mediation scale. We investigate the
requirements on the parameter space and discuss the implied flavour
phenomenology. We point out that the possibility of a vanishing Bmu term at a
mediation scale M = 100 TeV is challenged by the experimental data on B->tau nu

Higgs Mass from D-Terms: a Litmus Test
We explore supersymmetric theories in which the Higgs mass is boosted by the
non-decoupling D-terms of an extended gauge symmetry, defined here to
be a general linear combination of hypercharge, baryon number, and lepton
number. Crucially, the gauge coupling, , is bounded from below to
accommodate the Higgs mass, while the quarks and leptons are required by gauge
invariance to carry non-zero charge under . This induces an irreducible
rate, BR, for relevant to
existing and future resonance searches, and gives rise to higher dimension
operators that are stringently constrained by precision electroweak
measurements. Combined, these bounds define a maximally allowed region in the
space of observables, (BR, ), outside of which is excluded by
naturalness and experimental limits. If natural supersymmetry utilizes
non-decoupling D-terms, then the associated boson can only be observed
within this window, providing a model independent `litmus test' for this broad
class of scenarios at the LHC. Comparing limits, we find that current LHC
results only exclude regions in parameter space which were already disfavored

Staphylococcus aureus in the oral cavity: a three-year retrospective analysis of clinical laboratory data
OBJECTIVE: A retrospective analysis of laboratory data to investigate the isolation of Staphylococcus aureus from the oral cavity and facial area in specimens submitted to a regional diagnostic oral microbiology laboratory. METHODS: A hand search of laboratory records for a three-year period (1998-2000) was performed for specimens submitted to the regional diagnostic oral microbiology laboratory based at Glasgow Dental Hospital and School. Data were collected from forms where S. aureus was isolated. These data included demographics, referral source, specimen type, methicillin susceptibility and clinical details. RESULTS: For the period 1998-2000, there were 5,005 specimens submitted to the laboratory. S. aureus was isolated from 1,017 specimens, of which 967 (95%) were sensitive to methicillin (MSSA) and 50 (5%) were resistant to methicillin (MRSA). The 1,017 specimens were provided from 615 patients. MRSA was isolated from 37 (6%) of patients. There was an increasing incidence of S. aureus with age, particularly in the greater than 70 years age group. The most common specimen from which MSSA was isolated was an oral rinse (38%) whilst for MRSA isolates this was a tongue swab (28%). The clinical condition most commonly reported for MSSA isolates was angular cheilitis (22%). Erythema, swelling, pain or burning of the oral mucosa was the clinical condition most commonly reported for MRSA isolates (16%). Patients from whom the MSSA isolates were recovered were most commonly (55%) seen in the oral medicine clinic at the dental hospital, whilst patients with MRSA were more commonly seen in primary care settings such as nursing homes, hospices and general dental practice (51%). CONCLUSION: In line with more recent surveys, this retrospective study suggests that S. aureus may be a more frequent isolate from the oral cavity than hitherto suspected. A small proportion of the S. aureus isolates were MRSA. There were insufficient data available to determine whether the S. aureus isolates were colonising or infecting the oral cavity. However, the role of S. aureus in several diseases of the oral mucosa merits further investigation
Hadronic production of bottom-squark pairs with electroweak contributions
We present the complete computation of the tree-level and the next-to-leading
order electroweak contributions to bottom-squark pair production at the LHC.
The computation is performed within the minimal supersymmetric extension of the
Standard Model. We discuss the numerical impact of these contributions in

A procedure for the change point problem in parametric models based on phi-divergence test-statistics
This paper studies the change point problem for a general parametric,
univariate or multivariate family of distributions. An information theoretic
procedure is developed which is based on general divergence measures for
testing the hypothesis of the existence of a change. For comparing the accuracy
of the new test-statistic a simulation study is performed for the special case
of a univariate discrete model. Finally, the procedure proposed in this paper
is illustrated through a classical change-point example
