A case with gustatory aura associated complex partialepileptic seizure

Epileptic auras have been recognized in the literature since antiquity.Olfactory epileptic auras are very rare, constituting about 0.9% of allauras, and are typically described as unpleasant experiences. Mostpatients specifically likened it to a familiar smell such as that ofburning, sulphur, alcohol, gas, barbecue, peanut butter, ortoothpaste. Gustatory auras might have been experienced along witholfactory aura during epileptic seizures. Gustatory auras have beendescribed as metallic or peculiar sensation. The pathological lesionsfound in these patients have usually been associated with temporallobe. We reported a case with the sensation of strong strawberrytaste. During a follow up period of 6 months, neither aura nor theseizures occurred when the patient was on a combination therapy ofcarbamazepine and lamotrigin
