Consistent description of kinetics and hydrodynamics of dusty plasma

A consistent statistical description of kinetics and hydrodynamics of dusty plasma is proposed based on the Zubarev nonequilibrium statistical operator method. For the case of partial dynamics the nonequilibrium statistical operator and the generalized transport equations for a consistent description of kinetics of dust particles and hydrodynamics of electrons, ions and neutral atoms are obtained. In the approximation of weakly nonequilibrium process a spectrum of collective excitations of dusty plasma is investigated in the hydrodynamic limit.Comment: 31 pages, no figure

Zubarev nonequilibrium statistical operator method in Renyi statistics. Reaction-diffusion processes

The Zubarev nonequilibrium statistical operator (NSO) method in Renyi statistics is discussed. The solution of qq-parametrized Liouville equation within the NSO method is obtained. A statistical approach for a consistent description of reaction-diffusion processes in "gas-adsorbate-metal" system is proposed using the NSO method in Renyi statistics.Comment: 9 pages, no figure

New group of stable icosahedral quasicrystals: structural properties and formation conditions

Structural studies on the icosahedral quasicrystals in Zn-Mg-Sc, Cu-Ga-Mg-Sc, and Zn-Mg-Ti alloys as well as their corresponding 1/1 cubic approximants, have revealed that these quasicrystals belong to a new structural group similar to Cd-based quasicrystals. This group is characterized by a triple-shell icosahedral cluster different from both Mackay- and Bergman-types. The presence of the atomic cluster has been deduced from the structure model of the approximant crystal, Zn17Sc3, in which the clusters are embedded in a periodic network of so-called "glue atoms". Density measurement suggested the presence of at least 2.7 Zn atoms in the first shell of the cluster in this approximant. The substitutional relationship in these three quasicrystals indicates the important role of Hume-Rothery rule for the formation of this type of quasicrystal. The occurrence of a P-type icosahedral quasicrystal in Zn-Mg-Yb alloy is also reported.Comment: 11 pages, 1 table, 6 figure

Statistical Description of Hydrodynamic Processes in Ionic Melts with taking into account Polarization Effects

Statistical description of hydrodynamic processes for ionic melts is proposed with taking into account polarization effects caused by the deformation of external ionic shells. This description is carried out by means of the Zubarev nonequilibrium statistical operator method, appropriate for investigations of both strong and weak nonequilibrium processes. The nonequilibrium statistical operator and the generalized hydrodynamic equations that take into account polarization processes are received for ionic-polarization model of ionic molten salts when the nonequilibrium averaged values of densities of ions number, their momentum, dipole momentum and total energy are chosen for the reduced description parameters. A spectrum of collective excitations is investigated within the viscoelastic approximation for ion-polarization model of ionic melts.Comment: 24 pages, RevTex4.1-format, no figure

High intensity exercise decreases IP6K1 muscle content & improves insulin sensitivity in glucose intolerant individuals

Context Insulin resistance in skeletal muscle contributes to whole body hyperglycaemia and the secondary complications associated with type 2 diabetes. Inositol hexakisphosphate kinase-1 (IP6K1) may inhibit insulin-stimulated glucose transport in this tissue type. Objective Muscle and plasma IP6K1 were correlated with two-compartment models of glucose control in insulin-resistant hyperinsulimic individuals. Muscle IP6K1 was also compared following two different exercise trials. Methods Nine pre-diabetic [HbA1c; 6.1 (0.2) %)] were recruited to take part in a resting control, a continuous exercise (90% of lactate threshold) and a high-intensity exercise trial (6 x 30 sec sprints). Muscle biopsies were drawn pre- and post each 60-minute trial. A labeled ([6,62H2]glucose) intravenous glucose tolerance test (IVGTT) was performed immediately after the second muscle sample. Results Fasting muscle IP6K1 content did not correlate with SI2* (P = 0.961). High-intensity exercise reduced IP6K1 muscle protein and mRNA expression (P = 0.001). There was no effect on protein IP6K1 content following continuous exercise. Akt308 phosphorylation of was significantly greater following high-intensity exercise. Intermittent exercise reduced hepatic glucose production (HGP) following the same trial. The same intervention also improved SI2* and this was significantly greater compared to the continuous exercise improvements. Our in vitro experiment demonstrated that the chemical inhibition of IP6K1 increased insulin signaling in C2C12 myotubes. Conclusions The in vivo and in vitro approaches used in the current study suggest that a decrease in muscle IP6K1 may be linked to whole body improvements in SI2*. In addition, high-intensity exercise reduces HPG in insulin-resistant individuals

Nonequilibrium statistical operator method in the Renyi statistics

The generalization of the Zubarev nonequilibrium statistical operator method for the case of Renyi statistics is proposed when the relevant statistical operator (or distribution function) is obtained based on the principle of maximum for the Renyi entropy. The nonequilibrium statistical operator and corresponding generalized transport equations for the reduced-description parameters are obtained. A consistent description of kinetic and hydrodynamic processes in the system of interacting particles is considered as an example.Comment: 13 pages, RevTeX4-forma
