THE FOREST LAND RECLAMATION AFTER LIGNITE OPEN PIT MINING IN THE SOUTH OF UKRAINE
Lignite mining in Kropyvnytsky region has been performed in the last few decades in
Alexandria district in the watershed of the two rivers (Ingulets and Beska). Semenovske -
Golodkywske mine is the pit associated with the open extraction of brown coal. Rocks located
above the coal layer are carried to the earth's surface during the process of brown coal mining.
These rocks are represented by loess-like loam, red-brown, quartz, glauconitic sands, kaolin and
carbonaceous clays. The main method of restoring disturbed lands is the forestry reclamation.
Standing timber is represented by pine, sucker, acacia, oak plantations, which are pure and mixed
stand. They were formed due to the artificial cultivation of these trees

MicroRNA15a modulates expression of the cell-cycle regulator Cdc25A and affects hepatic cystogenesis in a rat model of polycystic kidney disease
Hyperproliferation of bile duct epithelial cells due to cell-cycle dysregulation is a key feature of cystogenesis in polycystic liver diseases (PCLDs). Recent evidence suggests a regulatory role for microRNAs (miRNAs) in a variety of biological processes, including cell proliferation. We therefore hypothesized that miRNAs may be involved in the regulation of selected components of the cell cycle and might contribute to hepatic cystogenesis. We found that the cholangiocyte cell line PCK-CCL, which is derived from the PCK rat, a model of autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD), displayed global changes in miRNA expression compared with normal rat cholangiocytes (NRCs). More specific analysis revealed decreased levels of 1 miRNA, miR15a, both in PCK-CCL cells and in liver tissue from PCK rats and patients with a PCLD. The decrease in miR15a expression was associated with upregulation of its target, the cell-cycle regulator cell division cycle 25A (Cdc25A). Overexpression of miR15a in PCK-CCL cells decreased Cdc25A levels, inhibited cell proliferation, and reduced cyst growth. In contrast, suppression of miR15a in NRCs accelerated cell proliferation, increased Cdc25A expression, and promoted cyst growth. Taken together, these results suggest that suppression of miR15a contributes to hepatic cystogenesis through dysregulation of Cdc25A

A Valuable Tool for Risk Stratification in Septic Patients Admitted to ICU
The lactate/albumin ratio has been reported to be associated with mortality in
pediatric patients with sepsis. We aimed to evaluate the lactate/albumin ratio
for its prognostic relevance in a larger collective of critically ill (adult)
patients admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU). A total of 348 medical
patients admitted to a German ICU for sepsis between 2004 and 2009 were
included. Follow-up of patients was performed retrospectively between May 2013
and November 2013. The association of the lactate/albumin ratio (cut-off 0.15)
and both in-hospital and post-discharge mortality was investigated. An optimal
cut-off was calculated by means of Youden’s index. The lactate/albumin ratio
was elevated in non-survivors (p < 0.001). Patients with an increased
lactate/albumin ratio were of similar age, but clinically in a poorer
condition and had more pronounced laboratory signs of multi-organ failure. An
increased lactate/albumin ratio was associated with adverse in-hospital
mortality. An optimal cut-off of 0.15 was calculated and was associated with
adverse long-term outcome even after correction for APACHE2 and SAPS2. We
matched 99 patients with a lactate/albumin ratio >0.15 to case-controls with a
lactate/albumin ratio <0.15 corrected for APACHE2 scores: The group with a
lactate/albumin ratio >0.15 evidenced adverse in-hospital outcome in a paired
analysis with a difference of 27% (95%CI 10–43%; p < 0.01). Regarding long-
term mortality, again, patients in the group with a lactate/albumin ratio
>0.15 showed adverse outcomes (p < 0.001). An increased lactate/albumin ratio
was significantly associated with an adverse outcome in critically ill
patients admitted to an ICU, even after correction for confounders. The
lactate/albumin ratio might constitute an independent, readily available, and

The dermomyotome ventrolateral lip is essential for the hypaxial myotome formation
Background
The myotome is the primitive skeletal muscle that forms within the embryonic metameric body wall. It can be subdivided into an epaxial and hypaxial domain. It has been shown that the formation of the epaxial myotome requires the dorsomedial lip of the dermomyotome (DML). Although the ventrolateral lip (VLL) of the dermomyotome is believed to be required for the formation of the hypaxial myotome, experimentally evidence for this statement still needs to be provided. Provision of such data would enable the resolution of a debate regarding the formation of the hypaxial dermomyotome. Two mechanisms have been proposed for this tissue. The first proposes that the intermediate dermomyotome undergoes cellular expansion thereby pushing the ventral lateral lip in a lateral direction (translocation). In contrast, the alternative view holds that the ventral lateral lip grows laterally.
Results
Using time lapse confocal microscopy, we observed that the GFP-labelled ventrolateral lip (VLL) of the dermomyotome grows rather than translocates in a lateral direction. The necessity of the VLL for lateral extension of the myotome was addressed by ablation studies. We found that the hypaxial myotome did not form after VLL ablation. In contrast, the removal of an intermediate portion of the dermomyotome had very little effect of the hypaxial myotome. These results demonstrate that the VLL is required for the formation of the hypaxial myotome.
Conclusion
Our study demonstrates that the dermomyotome ventrolateral lip is essential for the hypaxial myotome formation and supports the lip extension model. Therefore, despite being under independent signalling controls, both the dorsomedial and ventrolateral lip fulfil the same function, i.e. they extend into adjacent regions permitting the growth of the myotome
Levels and criteria for understanding of the scientific text in the pre-university period
The article covers the issues concerning the levels and criteria of preparatory department students' understanding of the scientific text. Teaching scientific language presupposes work with scientific texts at a language proficiency level of A1. When teaching how to work with the scientific text, one should consider its pragmatic, contents and cognitive discourse functions. Understanding is a multi-level psychological category, which determines foreign students' way of reading the scientific text. Each of the levels forms certain skills of text understanding. The article proves that comprehension of the depths of meaning is one of the criteria of scientific text understanding
Arginase Inhibition Reverses Monocrotaline-Induced Pulmonary Hypertension
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a heterogeneous disorder associated with a poor
prognosis. Thus, the development of novel treatment strategies is of great
interest. The enzyme arginase (Arg) is emerging as important player in PH
development. The aim of the current study was to determine the expression of
ArgI and ArgII as well as the effects of Arg inhibition in a rat model of PH.
PH was induced in 35 Sprague–Dawley rats by monocrotaline (MCT, 60 mg/kg as
single-dose). There were three experimental groups: sham-treated controls
(control group, n = 11), MCT-induced PH (MCT group, n = 11) and MCT-induced PH
treated with the Arg inhibitor Nω-hydroxy-nor-l-arginine (nor-NOHA;
MCT/NorNoha group, n = 13). ArgI and ArgII expression was determined by
immunohistochemistry and Western blot. Right ventricular systolic pressure
(RVPsys) was measured and lung tissue remodeling was determined. Induction of
PH resulted in an increase in RVPsys (81 ± 16 mmHg) compared to the control
group (41 ± 15 mmHg, p = 0.002) accompanied by a significant elevation of
histological sum-score (8.2 ± 2.4 in the MCT compared to 1.6 ± 1.6 in the
control group, p < 0.001). Both, ArgI and ArgII were relevantly expressed in
lung tissue and there was a significant increase in the MCT compared to the
control group (p < 0.01). Arg inhibition resulted in a significant reduction
of RVPsys to 52 ± 19 mmHg (p = 0.006) and histological sum-score to 5.8 ± 1.4
compared to the MCT group (p = 0.022). PH leads to increased expression of
Arg. Arg inhibition leads to reduction of RVPsys and diminished lung tissue
remodeling and therefore represents a potential treatment strategy in PH
