'It is a place, Makom, where each man may be called up': Being and time in Barnett Newman's art
Newman’s zips act as a kind of intervention or temporal event that differentiates the canvas, preventing Being from falling into the anonymous and impersonal il y a. The zip is what might be described as ecstatic temporality (ecstatic from the Ancient Greek ek “out” + histanai “to place, cause to stand out”). Time not only gives sense or meaning to Being, it marks the emergence of sensation, the physical materiality of something or someone

Evaluating whether a change in organisational structure would improve its competitive advantage
The purpose of this research is to study and analyse the internal and external structure of Ultimate Clean ltd, where I do work. We have put concentration on background of the company in the starting. This information is followed by aim and scope of research, which shows that what is the research question and what is scope of our research. After that Literature review is elaborated under five main subheadings. These subheading gives us deep information about the literature of organisation structure, competitive advantage. After that, Organisational context with internal and external analyse of the company is given which highlight the strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities of the company. Some external factors like political, economic, social and legal, are also discussed in this report. Then some information is given for method of research that why we use it, where and when it is used. Some limitations are also discussed in this report of method. After this, result section comes. In this section, we discussed deeply about the answers of customers, employees and employer. We prepare a discussion of the result and conclude it wisely. In the end, some recommendations are also given to improve organisational structure of Ultimate Clean ltd. We suggest a new structure for the organisation to develop within company to have a good competitive advantage in market place. A big list of references is also given in the end of this report
Optimisation of operations of wet vacuuming the carpets in Spotless services
The research topic, Optimisation of operations of wet vacuuming the carpets in Spotless cleaning services, was chosen by analysing problems in the operations of the organisation. Mixed methods involving survey and an interview, were used in the research. The survey was taken with thirty workers from the organisation, and the supervisor was interviewed. From the results, the findings are:
• The machine is hard to pull and handle during the work
• Time allotted to employees is insufficient to complete the work
• Time allotment is a challenge for the supervisor
• Safety & PPE measures needs to be increased
Solutions for the problem faced by the organisation are: follow-up / refresher training programmes need to conducted: an upgrade to easy-to-use machines that will help the workers to do the work within the given time. If the organisation follows the recommendations it will help the company to optimise wet vacuuming service operations
Machinima interventions: innovative approaches to immersive virtual world curriculum integration
The educational value of Immersive Virtual Worlds (IVWs) seems to be in their social immersive qualities and as an accessible simulation technology. In contrast to these synchronous applications this paper discusses the use of educational machinima developed in IVW virtual film sets. It also introduces the concept of media intervention, proposing that digital media works best when simply developed for deployment within a blended curriculum to inform learning activity, and where the media are specifically designed to set challenges, seed ideas, or illustrate problems. Machinima, digital films created in IVWs, or digital games offer a rich mechanism for delivering such interventions. Scenes are storyboarded, constructed, shot and edited using techniques similar to professional film production, drawing upon a cast of virtual world avatars controlled through a human–computer interface, rather than showing real‐life actors. The approach enables academics or students to make films using screen capture software and desktop editing tools. In student‐generated production models the learning value may be found in the production process itself. This paper discusses six case studies and several themes from research on ideas for educational machinima including: access to production; creativity in teaching and learning; media intervention methodology; production models; reusability; visualisation and simulation
What is the sustained competitive advantage of Desi Indian Kitchen multi cuisine dine-in and takeaways
Desi Indian Kitchen Multi Cuisine Takeaways and Dine-in (Dine-in and Takeaways) is a restaurant established at the beginning of January 2018 in Tauranga. The restaurant provides different delicious Indian dishes. The aim of the research is to identify the sustained competitive advantage of Desi Indian Kitchen Multi Cuisine Dine-in and takeaways (Takeaways and dine-in). .In the literature review, I have described Porter’s generic strategy as this applies to most efficient strategies of the corporate world, and describes the facts on which a company may achieve a permanent position in its environment. and how an organisation can pursue competitive advantages across its chosen market. I completed primary research by interview and client survey. I found that 80% of clients says Desi is indifferent, so in that manner there is no competitive advantage. Interviews with the employee made it clear that their main strength is menu and delivering to the client value for money. 92% of clients come to Desi a second time because they get value for money. 66% of clients come the first time because of recommendation by friends. The interview with the employee made it clear that Desi has a good reputation and a fixed number of clients As the result is mixed, based on current information, more information is needed to get clear answers. An interview sample of at least 30 employees is needed. Interview questions will be based on mission, vision and SWOT analysis and how they correlate with the company and the individual employee. Observation was undertaken to understand the strength and weaknesses of competitors. A high number of client orders come from online. There are three services: dine in, take-away and delivery
Detection of Sleep Disordered Breathing in Patients Hospitalized with Congestive Heart Failure
OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the plethysmographic signal-derived oxygen desaturation index (ODI) as an inpatient screening strategy to identify sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) in patients with congestive heart failure (CHF).
BACKGROUND: SDB is highly prevalent among patients hospitalized with CHF but is widely underdiagnosed. We evaluated overnight photoplethysmography as a possible screening strategy for hospitalized patients with CHF.
METHODS: Consecutively admitted heart failure patients with high clinical suspicion of SDB and ODI ≥5 were offered outpatient polysomnography (PSG), which was completed within 4 weeks of discharge. PSG was considered positive if the apnea hypoxia index (AHI) was ≥5. A Bland-Altman plot was used to assess agreement between ODI and AHI. Receiver-operator characteristics were determined for ODI ≥5 and AHI ≥5.
RESULTS: A screening questionnaire identified 246 of 282 consecutive patients with positive symptoms for SDB. Of these patients, 105 patients were offered further evaluation and 86 had ODI ≥5 (mean ODI 17 ± 17). Among these 86 patients, 68 underwent outpatient PSG within 4 weeks of discharge. PSG showed that 64 (94%) had SDB, with a mean AHI of 28. Inpatient ODI correlated well with PSG-derived AHI. The area under the curve was 0.82 for AHI ≥5. The Bland-Altman plot revealed no major bias. Matthew\u27s correlation coefficient revealed that the optimal cut-off for ODI is 5.
CONCLUSIONS: Screening hospitalized patients with heart failure using targeted inpatient ODI identifies a cohort of patients with a high prevalence of SDB. Our screening strategy provides a potentially cost-effective method for early detection and treatment of SDB
Genetic diversity in wild stocks of the giant freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii): implications for aquaculture and conservation
The giant freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) is cultured widely around the world but little is known about the levels and patterns of genetic diversity in either wild or cultured stocks. Studies have suggested that genetic diversity may be relatively low in some cultured stocks due to the history of how they were founded and subsequent exposure to repeated population bottlenecks in hatcheries. In contrast, wild stocks have an extensive distribution that extends from Southern Asia across Southeast (SE) Asia to the Pacific region. Therefore, wild stocks could be an important resource for genetic improvement of culture stocks in the future. Understanding the extent and patterns of genetic diversity in wild giant freshwater prawn stocks will assist decisions about the direction future breeding programs may take. Wild stock genetic diversity was examined using a 472 base-pair segment of the 16S rRNA gene in 18 wild populations collected from across the natural range of the species. Two major clades ("eastern" and "western") were identifi ed either side of Huxley’s line, with a minimum divergence of 6.2 per cent, which implies separation since the Miocene period (5-10 MYA). While divergence estimates within major clades was small (maximum 0.9 per cent), evidence was also found for population structuring at a lower spatial scale. This will be examined more intensively with a faster evolving mtDNA gene in the future
