This study aimed to examine the impact of self-learning table strategy K.W.L.H. On the achievement of the sixth grade students in chapter Regular Fractions and Decimal Fractions and their attitudes towards school mathematics. The study has been conducted in the first semester (1438/1439AH), at King Khalid Bin Abdul-Aziz Primary School, in Arar, Saudi Arabia. A quasi-experimental design has been used. In addition a (pre & post) achievement test (20 Questions) and (pre & post) attitude scale towards school mathematics (24 Item) were applied on two groups: one was control (27 Students) and the other experimental (26 Students). The study showed the parity of the two groups in the pretest of the achievement test and the attitude scale towards school mathematics at the level of significance . On the other hand, the results indicated that the experimental group exceeded the control group in the posttest of the achievement test and the attitude scale towards school mathematics, with statistically significant differences at the significance level , the results also indicated to a high size of effect of the used strategy

Abstract onlyThis study was conducted to assess the competency level of librarians in the Provinces of Capiz and Aklan as perceived by themselves based on the 2015 National Competency-Based Standard for Filipino Librarians (NCBSFL). Conducted in February 2017, this descriptive-relational research made use of a one shot survey design. Data were collected through a library visit and interview among the 43 professional librarians using a researcher-made questionnaire. The collected data were processed through Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) and employed statistical tools such as percentages, means and gamma coefficient in the data analyses. The study revealed that most of the respondents were between 31-50 years old, highly qualified, highly experienced, actively participates in seminars/trainings and received a moderate administrative support. The respondents had high competence in the areas of ethics and values, customer service, interpersonal skills and leadership skills, but fell short in cultural practices, communication and lifelong learning and personal growth. In general, more than half of the librarians were at high competence in personal competencies. In the area of management of information resources, the respondents were at high competence in the skills of selection and acquisition, collection management, cataloguing, but they fell short in e-resources management. In the area of management of information services, librarians perceived themselves high in access services, readers’ advisory and reference/information, but low in in patron training skills, information literacy, children services and public services/outreach. As to the area of management of information tools, the respondents registered high competence in the skills of email, operating system, hardware and internet; however registered low competence in the skills of web tools and application of information tools and technologies. In terms of management of information organizations, respondents rated themselves high in the skills of personnel management, strategic planning/policy formulation, facilities management, yet rated low in the skills of financial management/budgeting/funding and collaboration/networking and in project management/research. The area of management of information resources had highest proportions of high competence librarians followed by the area in the management of tools and technologies. Overall, less than half of the librarians were at high competence, while more than one-thirds were at moderate competence in the professional competencies. There is a negligible relationship between age and seminars/trainings attended and the level of personal competencies; while a low to moderate relationships were found between educational attainments, length of experience and the level of personal competencies. Age was found to have slight influence but seminars/trainings attended is associated with the level of professional competencies. Moreover, educational attainment, length of experience and administrative support is moderately related to the level of professional competencies. A proposed competencies enhancement program was formulated based on the findings of this study for the Capiz State University System.Includes bibliographical referencesMaster in Library and Information Scienc

Some New Fuzzy Fixed Point Results with Applications

    Get PDF
The aim of this article is to establish some fixed point results for fuzzy mappings and derive some corresponding multivalued mappings results of literature. For this purpose, we define some new and generalized contractions in the setting of b-metric spaces. As applications, we find solutions of integral inclusions by our obtained results.Deanship of Scientific Research (DSR), University of Jeddah, Jeddah. Grant No. UJ-02-007-ICGR

Fixed point results with applications to nonlinear fractional differential equations

    Get PDF
The aim of this paper is to define a Berinde type (ρ \rho , μ \mu )-ϑ \vartheta contraction and establish some fixed point results for self mappings in the setting of complete metric spaces. We derive new fixed point results, which extend and improve some results in the literature. We also supply a non trivial example to support the obtained results. Finally, we investigate the existence of solutions for the nonlinear fractional differential equation

On some fixed point theorems under (α,ψ,ϕ) -contractivity conditions in metric spaces endowed with transitive binary relations

After the appearance of Nieto and Rodríguez-López’s theorem, the branch of fixed point theory devoted to the setting of partially ordered metric spaces have attracted much attention in the last years, especially when coupled, tripled, quadrupled and, in general, multidimensional fixed points are studied. Almost all papers in this direction have been forced to present two results assuming two different hypotheses: the involved mapping should be continuous or the metric framework should be regular. Both conditions seem to be different in nature because one of them refers to the mapping and the other one is assumed on the ambient space. In this paper, we unify such different conditions in a unique one. By introducing the notion of continuity of a mapping from a metric space into itself depending on a function α, which is the case that covers the partially ordered setting, we extend some very recent theorems involving control functions that only must be lower/upper semi-continuous from the right. Finally, we use metric spaces endowed with transitive binary relations rather than partial orders. This article was funded by the Deanship of Scientific Research (DSR), King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah. Duplication of 10q24 locus: broadening the clinical and radiological spectrum

Split-hand-split-foot malformation (SHFM) is a rare condition that occurs in 1 in 8500-25,000 newborns and accounts for 15% of all limb reduction defects. SHFM is heterogeneous and can be isolated, associated with other malformations, or syndromic. The mode of inheritance is mostly autosomal dominant with incomplete penetrance, but can be X-linked or autosomal recessive. Seven loci are currently known: SHFM1 at 7q21.2q22.1 (DLX5 gene), SHFM2 at Xq26, SHFM3 at 10q24q25, SHFM4 at 3q27 (TP63 gene), SHFM5 at 2q31 and SHFM6 as a result of variants in WNT10B (chromosome 12q13). Duplications at 17p13.3 are seen in SHFM when isolated or associated with long bone deficiency. Tandem genomic duplications at chromosome 10q24 involving at least the DACTYLIN gene are associated with SHFM3. No point variant in any of the genes residing within the region has been identified so far, but duplication of exon 1 of the BTRC gene may explain the phenotype, with likely complex alterations of gene regulation mechanisms that would impair limb morphogenesis. We report on 32 new index cases identified by array-CGH and/or by qPCR, including some prenatal ones, leading to termination for the most severe. Twenty-two cases were presenting with SHFM and 7 with monodactyly only. Three had an overlapping phenotype. Additional findings were identified in 5 (renal dysplasia, cutis aplasia, hypogonadism and agenesis of corpus callosum with hydrocephalus). We present their clinical and radiological findings and review the literature on this rearrangement that seems to be one of the most frequent cause of SHFM
