Effect of Co substitution on Ni2_{2}MnGe Heusler alloy: ab initio study

Ab initio calculations shown that the Co substitution instead of Ni in Ni2_{2}MnGe with the L21_{1} crystallographic structure leads to a decrease of the lattice constant and an increase of the total magnetic moment of the Ni2x_{2-x}Cox_{x}MnGe compounds. The Mn(B) has the largest local moment above 3 μB3~\mu_{B} coupled parallel to moments on the Ni(A,C) and Co(A,C), which are found in the ranges of 0.19÷0.26 μB0.19\div0.26~\mu_{B} for Ni(A,C) and 1.03÷0.97 μB1.03\div0.97~\mu_{B} for Co(A,C) for studied range of xx. Using the results stemming from the total energy calculations, the values of bulk modulus and its pressure derivatives are estimated according to the Murnaghan EOS.Comment: 3 pages, 3 figures; The European Conference Physics of Magnetism 2017; submitted to Acta Physica Polonica

Static Buckling of FML Columns in Elastic-Plastic Range.

    Get PDF
The paper deals with the elasto-plastic buckling of thin-walled Fiber Metal Laminates short columns/profiles subjected to axial uniform compression. Structures of open and hollow (closed) cross-sections are considered build of at plate walls. Multilayered FML walls are considered as built of alternating layers of aluminum and fiber-glass composite. Three elastic-plastic theories are employed for constitutive relations description of aluminum layers i.e. fully elastic material behavior, the J2-deformation theory of plasticity and the J2 flow theory later both with Ramberg-Osgood formula application, whereas composite layers are assumed elastic within whole loading range. Some exemplary results determined with the application of own analytical-numerical method based on the Koiter's theory, in the Byskov and Hutchinson formulation are enclosed in the form of tables and plots

MEPs online: Understanding communication strategies for remote representatives

    Get PDF
This article explores the use of the Internet by Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), assessing the adoption of online communication as well as its strategic uses. In particular we analysed the websites, weblogs and social networking site profiles of all MEPs who linked to an online presence from the European parliament homepage, a total of 440 MEPs representing all 27 member nations. Through a thorough analysis of the content using a scheme designed to record the presence and functionality of 103 specific features and tools and recency of updates, we assess how MEPs use the Internet to connect with a range of audiences; from journalists to loyal supporters. We find MEPs embracing a range of features which would be appealing to a wide range of different visitors. There is a minor generational divide among MEPs based both on their age and the length of time their country has been a member of the European Union. However overall we suggest there is an ebb and flow of innovation within the online political communication of these parliamentarians

Impact of Land Use Changes and Dynamic Vegetation Changes on Vascular Flora Diversity in Małków-Bartochów (The Warta River Valley)

    Get PDF
The paper presents the changes of vascular plant flora in the Małków-Bartochów peatland area (the Warta River valley) which took place over a 40-year period. Vanishing, permanent and new components of the flora are presented with a special focus on valuable (protected by the law, threatened and locally rare) species. Changes in the share of ecological groups are estimated and discussed. Anthropogenic and natural factors, directly or indirectly influencing (in the past and at present) flora composition, are noted and analyzed

Static and Dynamic Thermomechanical Buckling Loads of Functionally Graded Plates.

In the paper the buckling phenomenon for static and dynamic loading (pulse of finite duration) of FGM plates subjected to simultaneous action of one directional compression and thermal field is presented. Thin, rectangular plates simply supported along all edges are considered. The investigations are conducted for different values of volume fraction exponent and uniform temperature rise in conjunction with mechanical dynamic pulse loading of finite duration
