A Systematic Review of Blockchain Literature in Logistics and Supply Chain Management: Identifying Research Questions and Future Directions

Potential blockchain applications in logistics and supply chain (LSCM) have gained increasing attention within both academia and industry. However, as a field in its infancy, blockchain research often lacks theoretical foundations, and it is not clear which and to what extent organizational theories are used to investigate blockchain technology in the field of LSCM. In response, based upon a systematic literature review, this paper: (a) identifies the most relevant organizational theories used in blockchain literature in the context of LSCM; and (b) examines the content of the identified organizational theories to formulate relevant research questions for investigating blockchain technology in LSCM. Our results show that blockchain literature in LSCM is based around six organizational theories, namely: agency theory, information theory, institutional theory, network theory, the resource-based view and transaction cost analysis. We also present how these theories can be used to examine specific blockchain problems by identifying blockchain-specific research questions that are worthy of investigation

Die Schriftenreihe "Wirtschaft und Kultur" versammelt Beiträge zu aktuellen Fragen sozioökonomischer Forschung. Im Rahmen von 3 Bänden präsentieren Studierende des Masterstudiums "Sozioökonomie" ihre Abschlussarbeiten der Forschungspraktika zum Thema "Gesellschaft und Arbeit". Die ausgewählten Beiträge aus den Studienjahren 2012 - 2014 sind thematisch wie folgt zusammengefasst: Band 14 zum Thema Pflege, Band 15 zum Thema Arbeitslosigkeit, Band 16 zum Thema Organisationsklima in Non-Profit-Organisationen. Zum Band 15: Die Untersuchungen zur sozialen Repräsentation von Arbeitslosigkeit bzw. zu den Einstellungen gegenüber arbeitslosen Menschen verdeutlichen Gefahren für die gesellschaftliche Integration. Wenn die Normen eines erwerbswirtschaftlich geprägten Leistungsethos dominieren und strukturelle Ursachen für Arbeitslosigkeit ausgeklammert werden, kann es leicht zur Stereotypisierung und Ausgrenzung arbeitsloser Menschen kommen. Citylogistik Wien: Der Einfluss von Paketdienstleistern auf den Gesamtverkehr. Endbericht der Studie

In der öffentlichen Diskussion über die Citylogistik der Stadt Wien werden zunehmend Kurier-, Express und Paket (KEP)-Dienste für die Überlastung des Gesamtverkehrs verantwortlich gemacht. Jedoch gibt es kaum spezifische Erkenntnisse oder Studien darüber, in welchem Ausmaß KEP-Dienstleister im Vergleich zu anderen gewerblichen Branchen zum Gesamtverkehrsaufkommen in Wien beitragen. Um diese Diskussion zu versachlichen, wurde eine empirische Bestandsaufnahme durchgeführt, die sich mit drei Forschungsschwerpunkten befasst: 1. dem Anteil der Paketlogistik am Gesamtverkehr der Stadt Wien, 2. den Optionen für eine effiziente Gestaltung der Gesamtverkehrssituation in Wien, sowie 3. der potenziellen Schadstoff/CO2-Einsparung durch eine komplette Umstellung der Post-eigenen Paketzustellflotte auf E-Fahrzeuge

Response to comments on "Differential Sensitivity to Human Communication in Dogs, Wolves, and Human Infants."

The comments by Fiset and Marshall-Pescini et al. raise important methodological issues and propose alternative accounts for our finding of perseverative search errors in dogs. Not denying that attentional processes and local enhancement are involved in such object search tasks, we provide here new evidence and argue that dogs’ behavior is affected by a combination of factors, including specific susceptibility to human communicative signals

Time-integration methods for a dispersion-managed nonlinear Schrödinger equation

Modeling dispersion-managed optical fibers leads to a nonlinear Schrödinger equation where the linear part is multiplied by a rapidly changing piecewise constant coefficient function. Typically, the occurring oscillations of the solution and the discontinuous coefficients impose severe problems for traditional time-integrators. In this thesis, we present and analyze tailor-made numerical methods for this equation which attain a desired accuracy with significantly larger step-sizes than traditional methods. The construction of the methods is based on a favorable transformation of problem and the explicit computation of certain integrals over highly oscillatory phases. In the error analysis, we deviate from the classical concept “stability and consistency yield convergence”. Instead, we utilize recursion formulas for the global error to exploit cancellation effects of various oscillatory error terms allowing us to prove higher accuracy for special step-sizes

METHODS OF ESTIMATING ATHLETE INERTIAL PROPERTIES AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS FOR THE STUDY OF SOMERSAULTS

Eleven methods of estimating the inertial properties of an athlete based on anthropometric measurements were compared. Four parameters were chosen to reflect the practical implications of using different estimation methods in the study of the somersault, along with sets of appropriate postures. There was considerable variation between the parameter values produced by each method. Nevertheless there was agreement across all methods on the order of arm actions producing tilt, and the tilt produced by twisting-related postures. For these techniques and postures a coach may use the order to select one technique or posture in preference over another, without knowing the inertial properties exactly
