Research and dissemination : support for communities affected by mining in Canada and around the globe (2009-2010)
MiningWatch was created to strengthen and forge global linkages to support communities affected by mining and to bring about reforms that will promote responsible mining practices while providing redress for existing and past damages. This report outlines conferences, publications, international standards outputs, networking, communications initiatives, and collaborations with other countries and aboriginal groups, as well as other multi-stakeholder initiatives undertaken during the two-year project. The “Mining & Health: A Community-Centred Health Assessment Toolkit” was created, as well as other resources such as an interactive Google map of Canadian mining projects in other countries
