Explicit solutions to fractional diffusion equations via Generalized Gamma Convolution
In this paper we deal with Mellin convolution of generalized Gamma densities
which leads to integrals of modified Bessel functions of the second kind. Such
convolutions allow us to explicitly write the solutions of the time-fractional
diffusion equations involving the adjoint operators of a square Bessel process
and a Bessel process
Questions about Household Consumption in Surveys
Household total expenditure (consumption) is a very important phenomenon in many research areas. The problem is how to get precise information about the consumption from each household and at the same time not to make the questionnaire so long and involved that it becomes a burden to the respondent. In this paper is evidence from several sources on the usefulness of recall consumption questions. Valid information can be collected by adding specific recall questions to general purpose surveys. There are a few recommendations on how to do so.Households, Consumption, Surveys
The mechano-chemistry of cytoskeletal force generation
In this communication, we propose a model to study the non-equilibrium
process by which actin stress fibers develop force in contractile cells. The
emphasis here is on the non-equilibrium thermodynamics, which is necessary to
address the mechanics as well as the chemistry of dynamic cell contractility.
In this setting we are able to develop a framework that relates (a) the
dynamics of force generation within the cell and (b) the cell response to
external stimuli to the chemical processes occurring within the cell, as well
as to the mechanics of linkage between the stress fibers, focal adhesions and
extra-cellular matrix.Comment: 22 pages, 6 figures, 1 table, accepted in Biomechanics and Modeling
