PoN-S : a systematic approach for applying the Physics of Notation (PoN)
Visual Modeling Languages (VMLs) are important instruments of communication between modelers and stakeholders. Thus, it is important to provide guidelines for designing VMLs. The most widespread approach for analyzing and designing concrete syntaxes for VMLs is the so-called Physics of Notation (PoN). PoN has been successfully applied in the analysis of several VMLs. However, despite its popularity, the application of PoN principles for designing VMLs has been limited. This paper presents a systematic approach for applying PoN in the design of the concrete syntax of VMLs. We propose here a design process establishing activities to be performed, their connection to PoN principles, as well as criteria for grouping PoN principles that guide this process. COUNTERING SMALL UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS WITH ADVANCED DATA ANALYSIS AND MACHINE LEARNING
In January 2021, the DOD released its first Counter-Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Strategy to address the growing risk to military personnel, facilities, and assets posed by the rapid technological advancement and proliferation of sUAS. Existing counter-drone capabilities—heavily reliant on electronic warfare to disrupt the communication link between user and device—no longer address an evolving threat that includes autonomous drones, COTS technology, and an increasing number of drones in the airspace that can overwhelm a C-sUAS operator. To counter the increasingly complex small drone threat, the Army-led Joint Counter-sUAS Office is pursuing materiel and non-materiel solutions for its new system-of-systems approach. One vexing C-sUAS challenge involves radar detection systems discriminating some sUAS from other flying objects, like birds, due to their comparable size, slow movement, and low altitude. Inaccurate or inefficient sUAS classification using radar data can be a force protection threat due to the limited number of electro-optical sensors and human operators for classification at-scale. This thesis uses bird and drone radar track data from two different training environments to explore hidden structure in the data, develop independent unsupervised and supervised learning models using the two datasets, and experiment with data sampling and feature engineering to improve upon model robustness to different environments and dynamic environmental conditions.Lieutenant Colonel, United States ArmyApproved for public release. Effects of a Mentorship Program on High Need College Students: Reflections from Mentors and Mentees
On average, the college graduation rates for minority and/or high-need students are generally low. To address this situation, a Mid-Atlantic Consortium recently secured a grant to improve 4-year graduation rates of high-need students (i.e., new first-time students and transfer students who qualify as low-income students, first-generation college students, adult students, and/or students of color) by 20% over each selected college’s baseline. The purpose of this qualitative case study was to explore the experiences of students and faculty mentors toward accomplishing this goal. Data were transcribed, coded, and analyzed thematically. Some of the effects identified in this study included enhanced academic and career planning, strengthening relationships between mentors–mentees through enhanced communication and trust building, enhanced research skills, development of mentorship skills, development of intellectual curiosity, and improved academic outcomes. We discuss implications for practice, policy, and further research
Metode Gram-Schmidt dan Watershed Distance Transform untuk Pemisahan Sel Kanker Payudara
Penerapan pengolahan citra dalam membantu melakukan analisis citra mikroskopis semakin berkembang, salah satunya adalah penelitian tentang pemisahan sel kanker payudara bertumpuk. Hasil pemisahan sel kanker payudara akan sangat memperngaruhi akurasi perhitungan jumlah sel kanker. Metode watershed adalah metode segmentasi yang paling umum digunakan dan dikembangkan dalam pemisahan sel kanker bertumpuk pada penelitian sebelumnya. Berdasarkan penelitian sebelumnya juga diketahui bahwa metode Gram-Schmidt mampu menghasilkan nilai Mean Square Error yang relatif lebih rendah dibandingkan metode lainnya sehingga pada makalah ini diusulkan Pemisahan sel kanker payudara menggunakan metode Watershed Distance Transform berdasakan metode Gram-Schmidt. Dataset yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah citra mikroskopis sel kanker payudara jenis benign dan malignant. Kombinasi metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini menghasilkan nilai MSE 0,09041 dan nilai akurasi pemisahan sel kanker sebesar 71,02%
PERHITUNGAN BIAYA MODAL UNTUK MENGANALISIS KINERJA KEUANGAN
This study aims to determine the rate of return that a company must achieve on investment to maintain its stock market value. The results of this study indicate that the company's capital structure is less than optimal because the optimal capital structure is a capital structure that minimizes the weighted average cost of capital (WACC). From the results of the analysis and discussion conducted that PT. Mayora Indah, Tbk obtained WACC values of 32.25%, 39.61%, 74.83%, 65.13%, and 74.62%. The WACC value that has the best performance and provides the minimum rate of return indicated by investors is in the 2015 period. This calculation of the cost of capital can be used as a reference by company management to pay attention to the composition of the company's capital structure by reducing funding through debt to reduce financial risk and company capital costs
ANALISIS PENGGUNAAN PERANGKAT TEKNOLOGI INFORMASI DAN KOMUNIKASI DI BEBALANG SELANG PANDEMI COVID-19
Teknologi informasi dan komunikasi mempunyai peranan penting dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat. Terlebih ketika saat ini telah terjadi wabah Corona virus Desease (covid 19) yang telah menjadi pandemi bagi dunia. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan di Kamapung Bebalang kecamatan Manganitu Selatan Kabupaten Sangihe menunjukkan bahwa secara umum masyarakat Bebalang sudah memiliki dan menggunakan perangkat TIK baik untuk kebutuhan belajar, kerja, atau untuk kebutuhan komunikasi dan aktifitas lainnya. Responden yang menempuh pendidikan dan melaksanakan pembelajaran secara online tergolong tinggi yaitu sebanyak 69 % sedangkan yang melakukan pembelajaran secara offline sebanyak 31%. Perangkat teknologi informasi dan komunikasi yang digunakan untuk kebutuhan belajar dan kerja dari rumah adalah smartphone dan aplikasi yang digunakan adalah Whatsapp yaitu 50%. Responden yang sudah memanfaatkan perangkat TIK dan aplikasinya untuk kebutuhan pekerjaan sebanyak 67% sedangkan yang melaksanakan pekerjaan secara offline sebanyak 33%. Jenis perangkat TIK yang dianalisis yaitu radio, televisi dan parabola, handphone, smartphone, dan laptop/computer. Adanya pandemi covid -19 tidak berpengaruh besar terhadap pembelian perangkat TIK karena hanya sebagian kecil responden yang membeli perangkat tersebut saat adanya pandemic covid 19 yaitu sebanyak adalah 28 %. Alasan terbesar responden memiliki serta memanfaatkan perangkat teknologi informasi dan komunikasi selama masa pandemic covid -19 adalah untuk kebutuhan pendidikan sebanyak 45%. Responden yang dapat mengakses jaringan telekomunikasi dari rumah sebanyak 55%. Banyaknya kebutuhan masyarakat dimasa pandemi menyebabkan pengeluaran keuangan masyarakat meningkat yaitu sebanyak 89%. Namun 95% responden menyatakan bahwa perangkat teknologi informasi dan komnikasi sangat membantu aktifitas yang dilakukan sehari-hari.
Information and communication technology has an important role in social life, especially when there has been an outbreak of the Corona virus Desease (covid 19) which has become a pandemic for the world.. The results of research conducted on Bebalang Island show that in general the citizen in Bebalang already have and use ICT equipment for learning, working, or for communicating needs and other activities. Respondents who took education and carried out online learning were high at 69%, while those who did offline learning were 31%. Information and communication technology devices used for learning and working from home are smartphones and the most widely used application is Whatsapp, which is 50%. Respondents who have used ICT tools and their applications for work needs were 67% while those who carried out work offline were 33%. The types of ICT equipment analyzed are radio, television and satellite dish, cellphone, smartphone, and laptop/ computer. The existence of the Covid-19 did not have a major effect on the purchase of ICT equipment because only a small proportion of respondents purchased these devices during the Covid 19 pandemic, which was 28%. The biggest reason respondents owned and used information and communication technology devices during the Covid-19 pandemic was for educational needs as much as 45%. The number of respondents who can access th e telecommunication network from home is 55%. PELATIHAN MEDIA PEMBELEJARAN ONLINE BERBASIS OPEN SOURCE di SMPN 3 MANGANITU
Situasi Pandemi covid-19 yang terus berkepanjangan berdampak pada dunia pendidikan. Situasi tersebut mampu mengubah kebiasaan manusia dalam beraktifitas. Salah satunya adalah mengubah proses belajar mengajar dari offline menjadi online. Dalam melakukan proses belajar mengajar secara online, maka harus dibarengi dengan pengetahuan akan teknologi inofmasi. Bagi sebagian orang, belajar secara online merupakan suatu hal yang baru sehingga banyak hal yang harus dipelajari dan dikuasai baik dari segi penggunaan perangkat teknologi informasi maupun aplikasi yang digunakan. Berdasarkan hasil survei yang telah dilakukan bahwa mitra mengalami kendala dalam melakukan pembelajaran secara online, mulai dari kendala jaringan, media pembelajaran yang digunakan, bahkan kepememilikan perangkat teknologi informasi berupa smartphone atau laptop. Selain itu terbatasnya pengetahuan tentang jenis aplikasi open source dan cara menggunakannya. Berdasarkan masalah tersebut tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat Politeknik Negeri Nusa Utara melakukan pengabdian kepada masyarakat untuk memberikan pelatihan tentang bagaimana memanfaatkan perngkat teknologi informasi dan aplikasi pendukung lainnya dalam meunjang proses pembelajaran secara online kepada siswa, guru dan staf. Hasil kegiatan ini mitra mampu menggunakan aplikasi google meet baik bertindak sebagai host maupun sebagai peserta. Selain itu mitra langsung melakukan praktik tentang bagaimana membagikan materi kepada peserta. Aplikasi penunjang lainnya yaitu WhatssApp yang digunakan dalam membagikan link di group masing-masing kelas sehingga guru tidak perlu membagikan link tersebut kepada setiap siswa tetapi dikirim sekali saja yaitu di grup kelas sehingga dapat menghemat waktu. Semua kegiatan bisa diikuti dan dilakukan dengan baik, sehingga pihak Sekolah SMPN 3 Manganitu merasakan manfaat dan keuntungan dari pelatihan tersebut yang dapat membantu terlaksanakanya pembelajaran secara online.
The prolonged Covid-19 pandemic has had an impact on the world of education. This situation can change human habits in activities. One way is to change the teaching and learning process from offline to online. Carrying out the teaching and learning process online must be accompanied by knowledge of information technology. For some people, online learning is something new, so many things must be learned and mastered both in terms of the use of information technology devices and the applications used. Based on the results of a survey that has been conducted, partners experience problems in conducting online learning, starting from network constraints, the learning media used, and even ownership of information technology devices in the form of smartphones or laptops. In addition, limited knowledge about the types of open-source applications and how to use them. Based on this problem the community service team at the Nusa Utara State Polytechnic conducted community service to provide training on how to utilize information technology devices and other supporting applications in supporting the online learning process for students, teachers, and staff. As a result of this activity partners can use the Google Meet application both as hosts and as participants. In addition, partners directly practice how to distribute the material to participants. Another supporting application is WhatssApp which is used to share links in each class group so that the teacher does not need to share the link with each student but is sent only once, namely in the class group so that it can save time. All activities can be followed and carried out properly so that the SMPN 3 Manganitu School will feel the benefits and advantages of the training which can help carry out online learning
