Learning English mediated by Kahoot: Insights from the Indonesian EFL instructors
Now, EFL pedagogical practices have gradually transformed from traditional classrooms into digital learning. Within this context, mobile devices have now been considered as an auspicious medium for future learning. This study investigated how EFL instructors from different secondary education institutions viewed the in-class use of Kahoot in English-language classrooms. To this end, they were invited to fill a 13-items web-based questionnaire covering several categories: factual, behavioral, and attitudinal. Twenty-seven (n=27) Indonesian EFL instructors in secondary education at both public and private high schools mostly located in East Java, Indonesia, voluntarily participated in this present study by completing the online survey. The results indicated that participants mostly demonstrated positive feelings toward the utilization of Kahoot in EFL classrooms. It showed that Kahoot was perceived as a promising software application to enhance the English-language learning process. To explore the effectiveness of this online game-based platform, more future-related research with large-scale participants in broader geographic regions should be carried out in this area

This research investigates the vocational
school students’ needs on the implementation of
English teaching and learning that is focused on the
target needs and learning needs. By adapting
Hutchinson and Waters’ model (1987), questionnaire
consisting of parts A and B was administered to 32
students. Part A deals with the target needs centred on
the learner’s necessities, lacks and wants that are
effectively functioned in the target situation. In
contrast, part B concerns about learning needs that
encompass learning inputs, procedures, teacher’s and
learners’ role, and setting. Additionally, interviews
were also conducted with the students and an English

results of the practices of English teaching and to
uncover possible areas of students’ language
difficulties in learning English. The results suggested
that the students have different perceptions of their
necessities, wants, and lacks. The findings also
demonstrated the students’ learning needs including
the learning inputs, teaching-learning procedures, the
teacher’s and learners’ role, as well as the teachinglearning settings
The role of self-regulated learning on foreign vocabulary learning: a multi-case study
In recent years, a considerable body of empirical research has acknowledged the role of self-regulated learning (henceforth SRL) in the domain of English as a foreign language (EFL). However, the study investigating the role and mechanism of SRL in vocabulary learning is still in scarcity particularly in Indonesian contexts. To address this noticeable gap, this multi-case study aims to explore the role of SRL on vocabulary learning strategies use and mechanism from the experience of undergraduate EFL learners. After signing the informed of consent form sheets, two undergraduate students from two different countries (Indonesia and Egypt) voluntarily participate in this study. By employing a series of semi-structured interviews and conducting narrative thematic analysis (Braun Clarke, 2006), the findings showcase that both participants employ a myriad of vocabulary learning strategies such as rehearsal, elaboration, and social strategy. Additionally, the empirical evidence indicates that they have higher level of motivation and persistence to maintain vocabulary-learning activity. The findings suggest the important practical implications for teachers, learners, and institution. This article also discusses limitations and recommendations
