Biodiesel production by a novel composite of Fe (III)-based MOF and phosphomolybdic acid as an efficient and heterogeneous catalyst
The synthesis of MIL-53(Fe) samples and encapsulation process of phosphomolybdic acid implemented using ultrasound at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure. Characterization of newly synthesized nanocomposite was carried out using various techniques such as XRD, FT-IR, SEM, EDS, BET and ICP. The catalytic activity of the prepared nanocomposites, PMA@MIL-53(Fe), was tested through the esterification reaction of oleic acid with ethanol under ultrasonic irradiation. Biodiesel production process using certain molar ratio of oleic acid/ethanol, PMA@MIL-53(Fe) as catalyst (10-200 mg) containing different amounts of PMA (0-40%), at different reaction times (5-20 minutes), total energy consumption (in watts, W) and ambient temperature under ultrasound conditions. The operating conditions of each of parameters were varied to study their effects on product yield. The results indicated that the synthesized composites show excellent catalytic activity. by encapsulating heteropoly acids in the MOF network, the challenges of using heteropoly acids, such as low contact surface and high solubility, are largely eliminated. The use of heteropoly acids in the industrial scales shows promise, provided the mentioned problems can be overcom

The Effects of the Toxicity of (Fe (so4).7H2o) on the isolated Mitochondria from the brain of rat
Introduction: Iron, through the reaction of Fenton, generates free radicals such as active oxygen radicals and activates the oxidative stress pathway. The oxidative stress due to the increased iron level in the brain regions plays an important role in creation of neurodegenerative diseases.
Methods and Results:In this study, the mitochondria of the brain tissue of Wild Wistar Rat isolated from various centrifuge rounds and with the concentrations of Fe (so4).7H2o were incubated at 30 and 60 minutes. To determine IC50 Fe (so4).7H2o, the mitochondrial survival ratio was measured by MTT test. Mitochondrial suspension with the concentration of 0.5 mg protein/ml at various concentrations of Fe (so4).7H2o was placed in a shaker incubator at 37° C for 30 and 60 minutes. Then the activity of mitochondrial complex 2 and the formation ratio of reactive oxygen species was investigated. The results showed that IC50 ratio for Fe (so4).7H2o was 20 and 5 μg/ml at 30 and 60 minutes, respectively, and mitochondria incubation isolated from the brain tissue of the rat with Fe (so4).7H2o can disrupt be the electron transfer chain and significantly increases the formation of reactive oxygen species compared to the control group (P <0.001).
Conclusions:The findings of this study indicate that Fe (so4).7H2o disrupts electron transfer chain in the mitochondria and causes increasing ROS production. This excessive increase of ROS can activate the oxidative stress pathway and ultimately activate the cell toxicity pathways
Dynamic impedance studies of oxidation of nickel and glycerol at nickel electrodes.
This thesis uses dynamic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (dEIS) to study
how nickel undergoes electrooxidation. An electropolishing step is used to make a
clean surface, and then the transformation of nickel to α-Ni(OH)2 is studied, including
how a holding potential affects the double layer capacitance, surface structure and charge transfer resistance. Also, NiOOH is grown on the surface by sweeping to more
positive potentials, and the activity of NiOOH toward glycerol electrooxidation is studied. It is shown that the free water content decreases on the surface (all or some portions of the surface, or possibly one or two monolayers close to the nickel surface) during the potential hold as determined by the decrease in measured capacitance. Oxidation of glycerol to glyceraldehyde is found to be the main reaction and the reaction mechanism is discussed.Graduate2019-10-2
Kinetics and Thermodynamics Studies of Copper (II), Mercury (II) and Chromium (III) Adsorption from Aqueous Solution by Peels of Banana
ABSTRACT The adsorption of Copper (II), Mercury (II) and Chromium (III) on peels of banana has been studied in batch mode using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy for metal estimation. The effects of Copper (II), Mercury (II) and Chromium (III) ions concentration, agitation time and temperature on adsorption of heavy metals onto peels of banana was investigated. The experimental isotherm results were fitted using Langmuir and Freundlich equations. The Langmuir and Freundlich model agrees very well with experimental data. The maximum amounts of Chromium (III), Copper (II), Mercury (II), adsorbed (q m ), as evaluated by Freundlich isotherm, were 9.01 mg, 8.81 mg and 7.65 per gram of powder of peels of banana, respectively. In the kinetic study, pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order were tested, and was found to follow closely the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The negative values of Gibb's free energy change (ΔG°) showed that the adsorption process was feasible and spontaneous in nature
