The renaissance of the codex with miniatures in the collection of the Hispanic Society of America: from sponsorship to collecting

A lo largo del siglo XVI se mantuvo una alta producción de manuscritos, elaborados según las antiguas técnicas. En la mayoría se trataba de ejemplares de lujo cuyo objetivo era satisfacer los encargos de los miembros de la realeza, la aristocracia y las principales sedes episcopales de España. A pesar de la implantación del libro impreso abundaron los documentos jurídicos iluminados en pergamino, ejecutorias de hidalguía expedidas por las Reales Chancillerías de Granada y Valladolid que han llegado hasta nosotros. Tras haber perdido su función primigenia, siguió permaneciendo en dichos documentos un alto valor estético que cautivó a numerosos coleccionistas. La Hispanic Society of America es un ejemplo a tener en cuenta por la interesante colección de códices miniados que conserva.Throughout the XVI century the production of manuscripts was maintained, elaborated according to the old techniques. They were luxury objets that tried to satisfy the wishes of the members of the royalty, the aristocracy and of the main episcopal sites of Spain. After the introduction of the printed book abounded the legal documents illuminated in parchment, legal documents issued by the Royal Chancelleries of Granada and Valladolid as objects of a high value. After having lost its previous functions, the high artistic value they were iluminated up continues to remain in these documents, which captivated numerous private collectors. The Hispanic Society of America is an example to keep in mind for the interesting collection of mined codices that it preserves

La historia de la Biblioteca Capitular de Toledo hunde sus raíces tras la reconquista cristiana de la ciudad en 1085. El número de códices fue ampliándose con el devenir de los siglos en base a compras, encargos y donaciones. Cabe destacar la aportación de algunos prelados que, como mecenas, permitieron un rápido enriquecimiento de los fondos capitulares. Nos detendremos en los manuscritos de la rica biblioteca del cardenal Francisco Javier Zelada (1717-1801), bibliotecario del Vaticano y Secretario del papa Pio VI. Como bibliófilo reunió en su palacio una valiosa colección de manuscritos, adquiridos en Roma por arzobispo de Toledo, Francisco Antonio de Lorenzana. Esta aportación constituye uno de los fondos más destacados del conjunto bibliográfico capitular, por su calidad y variedad en iluminaciones y ricas encuadernaciones.The history of the Chapter Library of Toledo started after the Christian reconquest of the city in 1085. The number of codices increased with the passing of the centuries based on purchases, orders and donations. We can stand out the contribution of some prelates who, as patrons, allowed a rapid enrichment of the capitular funds. We will stop in the rich library of Cardinal Francisco Javier Zelada (1717-1801), librarian of the Vatican and Secretary of Pope Pius VI. He was a great bibliophile, so he gathered in his palace a valuable collection of manuscripts, acquired in Rome by the archbishop of Toledo, Francisco Antonio de Lorenzana. This contribution constitutes one of the most outstanding fund of the chapter bibliographic group, for the quality and variety of its illuminations and rich bindings

La inscripción de una escritura de venta de participación indivisa de inmueble otorgada en Venezuela: un problema de derecho internacional privado. Comentario a la Resolución de la Dirección General de los Registros y del Notariado de 20 enero de 2011 (RJ 2011, 3435)

Estamos ante cuestiones de Derecho Internacional Privado. Conforme al Convenio de Roma de 1980 sobre la ley aplicable a las obligaciones contractuales, que al igual que actual Reglamento (CE) 593/2008 (Roma)), excluye del ámbito de aplicación las cuestiones relativas a la capacidad para contratar, representación de menores, cumplimiento de cautelas exigibles y consecuencias de su inobservancia: resolución a la luz del ordenamiento designado por las normas de conflicto nacionales. Reducing Self-Stigma in People with Severe Mental Illness Participating in a Regular Football League: An Exploratory Study

For the past 15 years, a regular indoor football competition has been taking place in Madrid (Spain) with 15 teams from different mental health services in the city, in which teams face off weekly as part of a competition lasting nine months of the year. We are not aware of whether a similar competition experience is offered in other cities. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate whether participating in this league, called Ligasame, has an influence on participants’ self-stigma. To do so, the Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness scale (ISMI) was adapted into Spanish and applied to 108 mental health patients, 40% of which participated in Ligasame, and the remainder of which did not. The results obtained reflect significant differences between those participating in Ligasame and those that did not in terms of two specific dimensions related to self-stigma (stereotype endorsement and stigma resistance) and total score. On the other hand, no significant differences were found in terms of other variables, such as patients’ prior diagnosis, age or belonging to different resources/associations. In this article, we discuss the importance of these results in relation to reducing self-stigma through participation in a regular yearly mental health football league

El incunable de Salustio impreso en Valencia en 1475: aproximación a su forma textual en relación con la tradición antigua

La edición incunable de las monografías de Salustio impresa en Valencia en los talleres de Lamberto Palmart fue publicada en 1475, el mismo año en el que salió otro incunable con el mismo texto en Barcelona a cargo de Juan de Salzburgo y Pablo Hurus. Ambas ediciones son los dos primeros incunables aparecidos en España en el terreno de la literatura latina clásica. Este artículo tiene como objetivo ofrecer una aproximación a la forma textual del incunable de Valencia y situado dentro del contexto de la tradición manuscrita de las monografías salustianas.The incunabulum of Sallust's monographs was printed in Valencia at Lamberto Palmart's workshops in 1475, the same year in which another incunabulum with the same works was released in Barcelona by John of Salzburg and Paulus Hurus. Both editions are the first incunabula produced in Spain in the field of Classical Latin Literature. This paper aims to offer an approximation to the textual form of the incunabulum of Valencia to place it within the context of the manuscript tradition of Sallust's monographs
