The Brera Multi-scale Wavelet Chandra Survey. I. Serendipitous source catalogue
We present the BMW-Chandra source catalogue drawn from essentially all
Chandra ACIS-I pointed observations with an exposure time in excess of 10ks
public as of March 2003 (136 observations). Using the wavelet detection
algorithm developed by Lazzati et al. (1999) and Campana et al. (1999), which
can characterise both point-like and extended sources, we identified 21325
sources. Among them, 16758 are serendipitous, i.e. not associated with the
targets of the pointings, and do not require a non-automated analysis. This
makes our catalogue the largest compilation of Chandra sources to date. The
0.5--10 keV absorption corrected fluxes of these sources range from ~3E-16 to
9E-12 erg cm^-2 s^-1 with a median of 7E-15 erg cm^-2 s^-1. The catalogue
consists of count rates and relative errors in three energy bands (total,
0.5-7keV; soft, 0.5-2keV; and hard, 2-7keV), and source positions relative to
the highest signal-to-noise detection among the three bands. The wavelet
algorithm also provides an estimate of the extension of the source. We include
information drawn from the headers of the original files, as well, and
extracted source counts in four additional energy bands, SB1 (0.5-1keV), SB2
(1-2keV), HB1 (2-4keV), and HB2 (4-7keV). We computed the sky coverage for the
full catalogue and for a subset at high Galactic latitude (|b|> 20deg). The
complete catalogue provides a sky coverage in the soft band (0.5-2keV, S/N =3)
of ~8 deg^2 at a limiting flux of 1E-13 erg cm^-2 s^-1, and ~2 deg^2 at a
limiting flux of ~1E-15 erg cm^-2 s^-1.Comment: Accepted by A&A, Higher res. Figs 4 and 5 at

Improving the discovery potential of charged Higgs bosons at the Tevatron and Large Hadron Collider
We outline several improvements to the experimental analyses carried out at
Tevatron (Run 2) or simulated in view of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) that
could increase the scope of CDF/D0 and ATLAS/CMS in detecting charged Higgs

Single production of the top partners at high energy colliders
The left-right twin () model is a concrete realization of the
twin mechanism, which predicts the existence of the top partner . In
this paper, we consider production of associated with the top quark at
the high energy linear collider () and the experiments,
and its single production in future linac-ring type collider experiment.
To compare our results with those of the littlest model with
-parity, we also estimate production of the -even top partner via
the corresponding processes in these high energy collider experiments. A simply

Associated H W Production in High Energy Collisions
We study the associated production of charged Higgs bosons with gauge
bosons in high energy collisions at the one loop level. We present

Proposal for generalised Supersymmetry Les Houches Accord for see-saw models and PDG numbering scheme
The SUSY Les Houches Accord (SLHA) 2 extended the first SLHA to include
various generalisations of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) as
well as its simplest next-to-minimal version. Here, we propose further
extensions to it, to include the most general and well-established see-saw
descriptions (types I/II/III, inverse, and linear) in both an effective and a
simple gauged extension of the MSSM framework. In addition, we generalise the
PDG numbering scheme to reflect the properties of the particles.Comment: 44 pages. Changed titl
Theory and phenomenology of two-Higgs-doublet models
We discuss theoretical and phenomenological aspects of two-Higgs-doublet
extensions of the Standard Model. In general, these extensions have scalar
mediated flavour changing neutral currents which are strongly constrained by
experiment. Various strategies are discussed to control these flavour changing
scalar currents and their phenomenological consequences are analysed. In
particular, scenarios with natural flavour conservation are investigated,
including the so-called type I and type II models as well as lepton-specific
and inert models. Type III models are then discussed, where scalar flavour
changing neutral currents are present at tree level, but are suppressed by
either specific ansatze for the Yukawa couplings or by the introduction of
family symmetries. We also consider the phenomenology of charged scalars in
these models. Next we turn to the role of symmetries in the scalar sector. We
discuss the six symmetry-constrained scalar potentials and their extension into
the fermion sector. The vacuum structure of the scalar potential is analysed,
including a study of the vacuum stability conditions on the potential and its
renormalization-group improvement. The stability of the tree level minimum of
the scalar potential in connection with electric charge conservation and its
behaviour under CP is analysed. The question of CP violation is addressed in
detail, including the cases of explicit CP violation and spontaneous CP
violation. We present a detailed study of weak basis invariants which are odd
under CP. A careful study of spontaneous CP violation is presented, including
an analysis of the conditions which have to be satisfied in order for a vacuum
to violate CP. We present minimal models of CP violation where the vacuum phase
is sufficient to generate a complex CKM matrix, which is at present a

Folate catabolites in spot urine as non-invasive biomarkers of folate status during habitual intake and folic acid supplementation.
Folate status, as reflected by red blood cell (RCF) and plasma folates (PF), is related to health and disease risk. Folate degradation products para-aminobenzoylglutamate (pABG) and para-acetamidobenzoylglutamate (apABG) in 24 hour urine have recently been shown to correlate with blood folate.
Since blood sampling and collection of 24 hour urine are cumbersome, we investigated whether the determination of urinary folate catabolites in fasted spot urine is a suitable non-invasive biomarker for folate status in subjects before and during folic acid supplementation.
Immediate effects of oral folic acid bolus intake on urinary folate catabolites were assessed in a short-term pre-study. In the main study we included 53 healthy men. Of these, 29 were selected for a 12 week folic acid supplementation (400 µg). Blood, 24 hour and spot urine were collected at baseline and after 6 and 12 weeks and PF, RCF, urinary apABG and pABG were determined.
Intake of a 400 µg folic acid bolus resulted in immediate increase of urinary catabolites. In the main study pABG and apABG concentrations in spot urine correlated well with their excretion in 24 hour urine. In healthy men consuming habitual diet, pABG showed closer correlation with PF (rs = 0.676) and RCF (rs = 0.649) than apABG (rs = 0.264, ns and 0.543). Supplementation led to significantly increased folate in plasma and red cells as well as elevated urinary folate catabolites, while only pABG correlated significantly with PF (rs = 0.574) after 12 weeks.
Quantification of folate catabolites in fasted spot urine seems suitable as a non-invasive alternative to blood or 24 hour urine analysis for evaluation of folate status in populations consuming habitual diet. In non-steady-state conditions (folic acid supplementation) correlations between folate marker (RCF, PF, urinary catabolites) decrease due to differing kinetics
Electroweak Corrections to the Charged Higgs Boson Decay into Chargino and Neutralino
The electroweak corrections to the partial widths of the decays including one-loop
diagrams of the third generation quarks and squarks, are investigated within
the Supersymmetric Standard Model. The relative corrections can reach the
values about 10%, therefore they should be taken into account for the precise

Higgs boson decay into 2 photons in the type~II Seesaw Model
We study the two photon decay channel of the Standard Model-like component of
the CP-even Higgs bosons present in the type II Seesaw Model. The corresponding
cross-section is found to be significantly enhanced in parts of the parameter
space, due to the (doubly-)charged Higgs bosons' virtual
contributions, while all the other Higgs decay channels remain Standard
Model(SM)-like. In other parts of the parameter space (and
) interfere destructively, reducing the two photon branching ratio
tremendously below the SM prediction. Such properties allow to account for any
excess such as the one reported by ATLAS/CMS at GeV if confirmed
by future data; if not, for the fact that a SM-like Higgs exclusion in the
diphoton channel around 114-115 GeV as reported by ATLAS, does not contradict a
SM-like Higgs at LEP(!), and at any rate, for the fact that ATLAS/CMS exclusion
limits put stringent lower bounds on the mass, particularly in
the parameter space regions where the direct limits from same-sign leptonic
decays of do not apply.Comment: 26 pages, 7 figure
Radiative corrections to : THDM versus MSSM
One loop radiative corrections to are considered at
future linear collider energies, in the general type II Two Higgs Doublet Model
(THDM) and in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model-like (MSSM) Higgs
sector. To make the comparison between THDM and MSSM tractable, we have
introduced a quasi-SUSY parameterization which preserves all the tree-level
Higgs mass-sum-rules of the MSSM, and involves just 3 free parameters in the
Higgs sector (instead of 7 in the general THDM) and comprises the MSSM as a
particular case. The model-independent soft photon contribution is isolated and
shown to be substantial. Important effects come also from the contribution of
the model dependent and vertices to the final
state. In the MSSM, the contribution of the Higgs sector is moderate (a few
percent) while in the THDM and both for small and large important
