Antimicrobial activities and enhancers of DNA gyrase inhibitors from manure compost actinomycetes / Anis Low Muhammad Low
Actinomycetes are invaluable sources of bioactive microbial compounds and have been the central of novel drug research as they continuously contribute to the pharmaceutical industry. The traditional perception of actinomycetes being soil bound has currently changed with evidence demonstrating their colonization in unique microenvironment. Through evolution and environmental adaptation, development of unusual metabolic activities has resulted in a variety of anti-infective agents from these bacteria. Nevertheless, the discovery of actinomycetes and its bioactive secondary metabolites from manure compost materials remained understudied. This research was therefore undertaken with the aim of isolating and characterizing the diversity of actinomycetes from manure composts, identifying morphologically distinct isolates, screening isolates for potential antimicrobial activities and bioactive compounds which act as enhancers for DNA gyrase inhibitor as well as elucidating compound(s) responsible for these activities. A collection of 191 actinomycete isolates were recovered from five types of manure composts collected around Selangor, Malaysia. The highest recovery was observed on SCNA medium at 30ºC. The combination of micromorphological characteristics and 16S rRNA sequence analysis revealed considerable actinomycete diversity which covers 12 genera within nine families
The main factors affecting the selection of courses related to food services among male students in vocational colleges
The education system in Malaysia is divided into several types: technical and vocational education, general education and religious education (Rashid, 2006). The technical and vocational fields emphasize knowledge and skills as well as provide good employment opportunities to young people. While public education emphasizes on academic knowledge. Malaysia is a rapidly developing country and is aiming to become a developed nation by the year 2020. Industry engaged in food services is one of the growing segments of the Malaysian economy. Indirectly the growth and growth of the rising food service industry has created vast career opportunities for graduates. However, along with these developments, gender imbalances between male and female students in food services are often the main topic for debate
LAPORAN CSR SEBAGAI MEDIA LEGITIMASISTUDI KOMPARATIFLAPORAN CSR PERTAMINA DAN MEDCO ENERGY
Despite having the same operational business, CSR reports of different companies are not done equally. The aim of the present study was to investigate and analyze informations regarding the CSR reports from companies of the same operational business industry. This study also aimed to understand the motives and purposes of each company in their CSR activities.
This study employed semiotic approach of qualitative methods. The data analyzed in this study was obtained from CSR reports of PT Pertamina and PT Medco Energy. In-depth interviews were done with a representative from each company.
This study is hoped to give essential contributions toward persons or organizations that utilize such reports in making decisions. It was found that there were indeed differences in presenting CSR reports between these two companies. The differences occurred due to the existence of their distinctive characteristics. On the other hand, the evidence showed that differences in the characteristics of each company's stakeholders played a key role in the company's activities
Socially-Aware Distributed Hash Tables for Decentralized Online Social Networks
Many decentralized online social networks (DOSNs) have been proposed due to
an increase in awareness related to privacy and scalability issues in
centralized social networks. Such decentralized networks transfer processing
and storage functionalities from the service providers towards the end users.
DOSNs require individualistic implementation for services, (i.e., search,
information dissemination, storage, and publish/subscribe). However, many of
these services mostly perform social queries, where OSN users are interested in
accessing information of their friends. In our work, we design a socially-aware
distributed hash table (DHTs) for efficient implementation of DOSNs. In
particular, we propose a gossip-based algorithm to place users in a DHT, while
maximizing the social awareness among them. Through a set of experiments, we
show that our approach reduces the lookup latency by almost 30% and improves
the reliability of the communication by nearly 10% via trusted contacts.Comment: 10 pages, p2p 2015 conferenc
Improvement of the ergonomical structure of Knapsack sprayer to propel cart sprayer (PCS)
A sprayer is a device used to spray a liquid projection mostly used in agriculture crop used to apply such as pesticides. The sprayer’s usage are based on the type of the background of the farmers scale in agriculture. Large scale of farmers will use the motorize sprayer that will help saving their time to pesticide a large are of corps [1]. Meanwhile, small scale of farmers will use a manual operated sprayer such as Knapsack Sprayer which it is a low cost, low maintenance and easy to use since it does not have engine when operated. Both type of the sprayer has its own advantages and disadvantages that will affect the user. Mainly the manual operated Knapsack Sprayer is a knapsack type, a burden that will make user carry the heavy load at their back while spraying pesticide. The weight of the mixture carried can be up to 17 kilograms depends on the density of the mixture whereas the safe weight lifting legalize by OSHA is 22.68 kilograms which the load almost near to its limit for average man and will affect the body locomotion and bones structure if carried in a long term period. Total sprayed area per full tank are 44.09 meters square [2]. The product that will be made are to counter this problem occur while using Knapsack Sprayer. This product using pushing force to spray the targeted area without having the user to carry a heavy burden while working
Improvement of the total mass and operating time of Knapsack sprayer to Propel Cart Sprayer (PCS)
There are two types of background of the farmers which are the large scale and small scale of agriculture. Usually, the large scale farmers will use the motorize Knapsack Sprayer while the small scale farmers will use manual-operated Knapsack Sprayer. The motorize Knapsack Sprayer that uses by the large scale of agriculture farmers’ area is to save the cost and time [1]. Unfortunately, both types of Knapsack Sprayer have their own ineffectiveness and risk especially the manual Knapsack Sprayer. The farmers that use the manual Knapsack Sprayer will have to carry the heavy load at their back while spraying the pesticide. These are a very burden to the farmers, especially for the old farmers. The weight of the mixture carried can be up to 17 kilograms depends on the density of the mixture whereas the safe weight lifting legalize by OSHA is 22.68 kilograms which the load almost near to its limit for average man and will affect the body locomotion and bones structure is carried in a long term period [2]. The total sprayed area per full tank is 44.09 meters square. The process of spraying the pesticide will slow down because the farmers have to bring the heavy load
When Two Choices Are not Enough: Balancing at Scale in Distributed Stream Processing
Carefully balancing load in distributed stream processing systems has a
fundamental impact on execution latency and throughput. Load balancing is
challenging because real-world workloads are skewed: some tuples in the stream
are associated to keys which are significantly more frequent than others. Skew
is remarkably more problematic in large deployments: more workers implies fewer
keys per worker, so it becomes harder to "average out" the cost of hot keys
with cold keys.
We propose a novel load balancing technique that uses a heaving hitter
algorithm to efficiently identify the hottest keys in the stream. These hot
keys are assigned to choices to ensure a balanced load, where is
tuned automatically to minimize the memory and computation cost of operator
replication. The technique works online and does not require the use of routing
tables. Our extensive evaluation shows that our technique can balance
real-world workloads on large deployments, and improve throughput and latency
by and respectively over the previous
state-of-the-art when deployed on Apache Storm.Comment: 12 pages, 14 Figures, this paper is accepted and will be published at

Analisis Tingkat Kebisingan, Masa Kerja,Shift Kerja Terhadap Stres Kerja Pada Karyawan Di Pt. Bintang Asahi Textile Industri Kab. Sragen
This research aims to know the relationship of the noise level, the work, shift work against work stress on employees at PT. Asahi Star Textile Industry Sragen. This research is quantitative research. The subjects used in this research employees working on the loom as much as 40 respondents out of a total of 60 employees at the loom. Data analysis techniques using multiple linear regression. There is a relationship between noise, working period, Shift work to stress of work. But individually working period there is no relationship with work stress means working period does not affect work stress, while noise and Shift work has a relationship with work stress. Noise, Period work, and Shift work affect work stress then it will also impact the performance of the employees so that their performance will not yield the maximum. Individually working period there is no relationship with work stress because the work has a positive impact against future employees. The noise contributions, working period, Shift work to stress of work amounting to 72%, so there are still some other factors influencing the stress of work
Overview of evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services (eMBMS)
MBMS was introduced as a service to optimize the dissemination of common interest multimedia content. Recently, it evolved to eMBMS based on LTE-centered flexibilities. However, launch of eMBMS over LTE may support new services e.g. pushed content for M2M services and delivery of premium content to the users enjoying secured QoS. This document primarily focusses on the rules, procedures and architecture supporting MBMS based data exchanges, which have not seen any major changes since Release 9
Standards for labelling and storage of anaesthetic medications--an audit
OBJECTIVE: To check compliance of anaesthetist to current policies set for the use of medication within operation room and for induction room floor stock.
METHODS: The initial audit was conducted from 1st October to 31st November 2006 and reaudit after dissemination and sharing of results within the department repeated in July-August 2007. In each audit four operating rooms were visited twice a week. Syringes were checked for standard drug labelling for narcotic and non narcotic preparations. Drug trolley was checked for any expired drugs and whether the trolley was locked in case of operating room (OR) where list was ended or was on hold. Any unattended drug was noted and Induction room was checked twice weekly for accurate drug inventory and for standard drug storage recommendations.
RESULTS: Labels were according to standard in non narcotic drugs on 25% syringes in first audit and 63% in second audit, likewise, narcotics labels were according to standards in 41% in first and 57% in second audit. Unattended drugs were present once in first and twice in second audit. There was 100% compliance in other drug storage policy parameters in both audits.
CONCLUSION: Poor compliance of drug labelling standards for both narcotic and non narcotic drugs was present. However, second audit revealed improvement in all areas of drug handling. Dissemination of policies and reminders are important for continuing improvement in use of medication within operation room and within induction room floor stock
