HSAS: Hindi Subjectivity Analysis System
With the development of Web 2.0, we are abundant with the documents expressing user's opinions, attitudes and sentiments in the textual form. This user generated textual content is an important source of information to make sound decisions by the organizations and the government. The textual information can be categorized into two types: facts and opinions. Subjectivity analysis is the automatic extraction of subjective information from the opinions posted by users and divides the content into subjective and objective sentences. Most of the works in subjectivity analysis exists for English language data but with the introduction of unicode standards UTF-8, Hindi language content on the web is growing very rapidly. In this paper, Hindi Subjectivity Analysis System (HSAS) is proposed. It explores two different methods of generating subjectivity lexicon using the available resources in English language and their comparative evaluation in performing the task of subjectivity analysis at the sentence level. The first method uses English language OpinionFinder subjectivity lexicon. The second method uses a small seed word list of Hindi language and expands it to generate subjectivity lexicon. Different evaluation strategies are used to validate the lexicon. We achieved 71.4% agreement with human annotators and ~80% accuracy in classification on a parallel data set in English and Hindi. Extensive simulations conducted on the test dataset confirm the validity of the suggested method

an extension of this investigation to esterases from germinated Jatrophacurcas seeds. The 0.1 M NaCl solution, 0.1 M phosphate buffer pH7.0, 0.1 M citrate buffer pH 5.0 and 0.1 M Tris-HCl buffer pH 8.5, 0.1 M NaOH and distill water were used to extract protein from germinated Jatrophacurcas
seeds. The esterase activity and specific activity for NaCl solution, phosphatebuffer, citrate buffer, Tris-HCl buffer, NaOH and Distilled water was 9.07, 8.6, 8.2, 6.46, 0.07 and 4.98 μmoles/min/gm
and 0.09258, 0.0905, 0.088, 0.0715 0.0003 and 0.081 IU/mg, respectively.The Native-PAGE analysis showed the esterase
enzyme activity in different extraction buffer.Among 13 esterase bands, 8 esterolytic bands were major bands
(band no 1,3, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12 and 13)and remaining were minor bands.The amount of proteins and esterase activity were found to bethe highest when extracted with 0.1 M NaCl solution
Seed anatomical studies on dormancy and germination in Chamaecrista absus
Present study was conducted to analyze the anatomical structure of seed to study the dormancy behaviour in Chamaecrista absus. Seed germination behaviour was also studied after breaking the seed dormancy by artificial seed treatments. The anotamical studies revealed that seed has apical hilar region and seed coat has four layers consisting of outer cuticle, sub cuticle, palisade layer and inner tegma leading to physical dormancy. Outer cuticle and sub cuticle layers are very hard to break naturally and hence seeds possess hard seed coat dormancy. This physically hard seed coat should be made soft to enhance germination. Studies to break dormancy were conducted involving treatments like hot water, hormones and in combinations of both. The results revealed that seeds dipped in boiling water made inner layers permeable for water absorption in hilar region and thus germination enhanced. In specific seeds treated with boiling water for 5 minutes recorded higher germination (82 %) over untreated control (26 %). . Other artificial treatments with hormones gibberellic acid (33 % ) and ethrel (34 % ) did not enhanced the germination significantly over control. C. absus has hard coat dormancy and can be overcame by treating seeds with boiling water treatment
A framework for evaluating automatic image annotation algorithms
Several Automatic Image Annotation (AIA) algorithms have been introduced recently, which have been found to outperform previous models. However, each one of them has been evaluated using either different descriptors, collections or parts of collections, or "easy" settings. This fact renders their results non-comparable, while we show that collection-specific properties are responsible for the high reported performance measures, and not the actual models. In this paper we introduce a framework for the evaluation of image annotation models, which we use to evaluate two state-of-the-art AIA algorithms. Our findings reveal that a simple Support Vector Machine (SVM) approach using Global MPEG-7 Features outperforms state-of-the-art AIA models across several collection settings. It seems that these models heavily depend on the set of features and the data used, while it is easy to exploit collection-specific properties, such as tag popularity especially in the commonly used Corel 5K dataset and still achieve good performance
SHORT COMMUNICATION: Reduction of Spirometric Lung Function Tests in Habitually Smoking Healthy Young Adults: Its Correlation with Pack Years
Background: Adolescent smoking and the subsequent health problems are a major concern today. However there are very few studies done on spirometric lung functions and its relation with pack years in young adult habitual smokers who are apparently healthy. Aims and Objectives: The present study is undertaken to assess the change in lung functions in apparently healthy young adult habitual smokers compared to their age matched controls. Materials and Methods: A random sample of apparently healthy young adult habitual smokers (n=40) and nonsmokers (n=40) between age group17-35 years with history suggesting of pack years of 2-10 years were selected from students & employees of B.L.D.E.Us Sri B.M. Patil Medical College,Hospital & Research Centre Bijapur (Karnataka), India. Spirometric lung functions recorded were forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), FEV1%, Peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) and Maximal expiratory pressure (MEP). Results: The results suggested that inapparently healthy habitual smokers there was significant decrease in FEV1 (L) (-13.34%, p<0.001), FEV1 % (-10.76%, p<0.001), PEFR (-45.26%, p<0.0001) and MEP (-35.51%, p<0.0001) compared to nonsmokers and decrease in FEV1 was negatively correlated withpack years in smokers (r2=0.063, p=0.001). Reduced lung functions and negative correlation to pack years may be attributed todecreased airway diameter & reflex broncho- constriction in response to inhaled smoke particles. Conclusions: In conclusion young adulthabitual smokers who were apparently healthy are more prone for respiratory dysfunction than their nonsmoker counterparts. FEV1 reduction in relation to pack years acts as an important determinant for detecting lung dysfunction in the early stage of the disease. As the risk of having smoking related diseases depends mainly on number of pack years, it is suggested that quitting smoking earliest helps to get greatest health benefits in apparently healthy young adult habitual smokers
Biological relationship of Bean common mosaic virus (BCMV) infecting cowpea with leguminous plant species
Bean common mosaic virus (BCMV) associated with cowpea mechanically inoculated to different legumi-nous plants. Out of nineteen including cowpea Var.C-152, the virus was easily transferred to ten different legumi-nous hosts. All other hosts assessed for the presence of BCMV were found to be uninfected. The number of days taken for symptom expression and symptoms were varied within plant species. Pole bean expressed mosaic symp-tom after long incubation period (15-18 days) whereas, shorter incubation period was observed in common bean and rice bean (7- 10 days). BCMV produced chlorosis, mosaic, leaf distortion, puckering, vein banding, vein clearing and vein netting on cowpea(C-152). A typical virus symptom, mosaic was observed in green gram, common bean, lime bean, rice bean and yard long bean, whereas, leaf rolling and leaf distortion was observed in black gram, pole bean and snap bean. The virus-host relationship was confirmed by back inoculation test to C. amaranticolor. Further symptomatic plants were subjected for Reverse Transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for molecular confirmation using BCMV coat protein (CP) specific primer pair. A PCR fragment size of 439bp was amplified for the symptomatic plants. The results generated indicated the ability of a plant to support virus expression and host speci-ficity of BMCV within the leguminous plant species
Antifungal potential of Azotobacter species and its metabolites against Fusarium verticillioides and biodegradation of fumonisin
Abstract Aims In the study, seven Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) Azotobacter species were screened against three strains of Fusarium verticillioides to test its antifungal activity. Azotobacter strains were tested for the degradation of fumonisin produced by F. verticillioides. Secondary metabolites were isolated and characterized from the Azotobacter strains for the first time. Methods and Results Potential seven Azotobacter species antifungal activity was tested following the dual culture assay against three strains of Fusarium verticillioides namely FVM-42, FVM-86 and MTCC156 estimating the substantial zone of inhibition. Azotobacter species AZT-31 and AZT-50 strains significantly inhibited the growth of F. verticillioides recording drastic growth enhancement of maize under in-vitro conditions by calculating the infection incidence, vigour index and germination percentage. As confirmation, dereplication studies were conducted for the reconfirmation of Azotobacter strains by isolating from rhizoplane. Azotobacter strains played a key role in the degradation of fumonisin produced by F. verticillioides reporting 98% degradation at 2Â h of incubation with the pathogen. Furthermore, in the study first time, we have tried to isolate and characterize the secondary metabolites from the Azotobacter strains exhibiting six compounds from the species AZT-31 (2) and AZT-50 (4). Preliminary in-vitro experiments were carried out using the compounds extracted to check the reduction of infection incidence (90%) and increase in germination percentage upto 50 to 70% when compared to the test pathogen. Conclusion Azotobacter strains referred as PGPR on influencing the growth of plant by producing certain substances that act as stimulators on inhibiting the growth of the pathogen. Significance and Impact of the study The future perspective would be the production of an active combination of carboxamide compound and Azotobacter species for preventively controlling the phytopathogenic fungi of plants and crops and also towards the treatment of seeds
Structural Damage Detection in Framed Structures using Under Foundation Settlement/ Rotation of Bases
This paper describes the damage detection in framed structures due to the vertical support settlement and rotation of footing bases. The damage detection procedure proposed by Nobahari and Seyedpoor (2013) is used to detect the damage in the members of the frame. In the present study, instead of using the flexibility matrix (referred here as original flexibility matrix) method, the generalized flexibility matrix is used in the same algorithm and the results are compared. The algorithm uses flexibility matrix and strain energy concept to detect the damage in the members. The behaviour of the frame is discussed through changes observed in flexibility in the associated degree of freedom. Finally, the results indicate that, the damage index determined by generalized flexibility matrix method is more reliable than using the original flexibility matrix based method for the problem of settlement and rotation of footing base
Hybrid Cloud-Based Privacy Preserving Clustering as Service for Enterprise Big Data
Clustering as service is being offered by many cloud service providers. It helps enterprises to learn hidden patterns and learn knowledge from large, big data generated by enterprises. Though it brings lot of value to enterprises, it also exposes the data to various security and privacy threats. Privacy preserving clustering is being proposed a solution to address this problem. But the privacy preserving clustering as outsourced service model involves too much overhead on querying user, lacks adaptivity to incremental data and involves frequent interaction between service provider and the querying user. There is also a lack of personalization to clustering by the querying user. This work “Locality Sensitive Hashing for Transformed Dataset (LSHTD)” proposes a hybrid cloud-based clustering as service model for streaming data that address the problems in the existing model such as privacy preserving k-means clustering outsourcing under multiple keys (PPCOM) and secure nearest neighbor clustering (SNNC) models, The solution combines hybrid cloud, LSHTD clustering algorithm as outsourced service model. Through experiments, the proposed solution is able is found to reduce the computation cost by 23% and communication cost by 6% and able to provide better clustering accuracy with ARI greater than 4.59% compared to existing works
Development of UVM based Reusabe Verification Environment for SHA-3 Cryptographic Core
In this work, an industry standard methodology for ASIC verification domain, SystemVerilog (SV) with Universal Verification Methodology (UVM) is introduced with its features and application to Keccak SHA-3 Cryptographic Core. The ASIC verification flow for SHA-3 core is followed with creation of UVM based verification environment. By application of UVM on the core, horizontal and vertical re-use can be achieved in standard projects. Proposed verification environment uses OOPs concepts from SV UVM to develop layered testbench. In this approach initial learning curve is slow, considering overhead to learn new verification methodology. But, once full fledge working environment is created, re-usability feature from SV UVM can be achieved with less amount of time. Also coverage results give effectiveness of the proposed verification environment.
