The primary headaches: genetics, epigenetics and a behavioural genetic model
The primary headaches, migraine with (MA) and without aura (MO) and cluster headache, all carry a substantial genetic liability. Familial hemiplegic migraine (FHM), an autosomal dominant mendelian disorder classified as a subtype of MA, is due to mutations in genes encoding neural channel subunits. MA/MO are considered multifactorial genetic disorders, and FHM has been proposed as a model for migraine aetiology. However, a review of the genetic studies suggests that the FHM genes are not involved in the typical migraines and that FHM should be considered as a syndromic migraine rather than a subtype of MA. Adopting the concept of syndromic migraine could be useful in understanding migraine pathogenesis. We hypothesise that epigenetic mechanisms play an important role in headache pathogenesis. A behavioural model is proposed, whereby the primary headaches are construed as behaviours, not symptoms, evolutionarily conserved for their adaptive value and engendered out of a genetic repertoire by a network of pattern generators present in the brain and signalling homeostatic imbalance. This behavioural model could be incorporated into migraine genetic research

LA CONSERVAZIONE PREVENTIVA E PROGRAMMATA. VENTI ANNI DOPO IL CODICE DEI BENI CULTURALI Bressanone (BZ), 2 - 5 luglio 2024
The research aims to delineate the role and centrality of the Registrar within the
network of a cultural institution, thus contributing to its professional and social
recognition, and introducing a new approach to investigating cultural professionals.
Despite their crucial role in Heritage management and preservation, the Registrar
lacks adequate acknowledgment and appreciation. This study adopts an
interdisciplinary approach, integrating qualitative and quantitative codification of
data to clarify the Registrar’s role and responsibilities in Italy and to re-establish the
connection between the labor market and the national educational system. Through
collaboration with national and international academic and professional institutions,
as well as the analysis of skills and educational paths, the goal is to provide a
comprehensive overview of the Registrar’s position in Italian cultural institutions
Angio-TC delle biforcazioni carotidee
Knowledge of the natural history of atherosclerotic plaque at the carotid bifurcation, as well as the progression and regression of atherosclerosis, make it essential for a diagnostic approach more complete than angiography, whose only target is the degree of arterial stenosis. Besides, the invasivity of the technique discourages repeated controls in a disease where the main risk factor is aging. Among non invasive techniques, Angio — CT shows good sensitivity and specificity compared to the conventional angiography, and the intraoperative and histologic data in 21 patients submitted to TEA of the 92 examined. Beside the entity of stenosis, Angio-CT can evaluate the endoluminal growth and structure of plaque. Moreover, it provides a three dimensional representation of the region of interest. Reliefs emerge both from analysis of axial scans of the carotid bifurcation and from 3D and MP reformatting from raw data. Angio-CT data are integrated with results provided by Color Doppler-Ultrasonography in atherosclerotic screening. </jats:p
