Health Coaching Case Report: Optimizing Employee Health and Wellbeing in Organizations
Abstract
Health and wellbeing of employees has a direct correlation to organizational performance. It is essential that organizations and successful leaders prioritize the health and wellbeing of all employees – from the C-suite to entry level positions. As rates of stress, chronic illness, and unhealthy lifestyle choices continue to increase, it is imperative that organizations discover strategies that cultivate employee wellbeing. Employees with high wellbeing are more engaged, productive, and energized and directly affect a company’s bottom line; it is in the best interest of employers to invest in human capital and wellbeing of employees. Health and wellness coaching demonstrates encouraging potential as a cost-effective catalyst to optimize employee wellbeing. Rooted in science-based research with the foundation in relationships, communication, and connection, health coaches partner with employees as they build self-awareness around a holistic view of health. As employees build self-awareness, they increasingly recognize the importance of managing stress and self-care, connecting to their vision and values, taking active steps towards change, and addressing barriers and obstacles. With these strategies, individuals build resilience as they gain energy, empowerment, and work towards positive growth. This paper outlines the challenges that leaders and employees are facing, describes the intervention of health and wellness coaching, and provides a group coaching case study that demonstrates how health and wellness coaching can foster employee wellbeing. This case study provides evidence that health coaching shows promise as an intervention to optimize employee health and wellbeing.

Design procedures of reinforced concrete framed buildings in Nepal and its impact on seismic safety
The present paper analyses the design procedure and its impact on seismic
safety of the structures. For this, a representative reinforced concrete frame building
(WDS) is designed and the results are compared with similar buildings detailed with:
i) Current Construction Practices (CCP); ii) the Nepal Building Code (NBC) and iii)
the Modified Nepal Building Code (NBC+) recommendations. The seismic
performance evaluation is done with global strength, inter-storey drift and
displacement of the structures. Likewise, the sensitivity of the structural and
geometrical parameters of the RC frame building is studied through nonlinear analysis.
The study parameters considered for parametric analysis are column size, beam size,
inter-storey height, bay length, bay width, and compressive strength of concrete. The
results show that the influence on the structural behaviour, particularly by variation in
column size and inter-storey height. Additionally, the influence of the seismic zone
factor on reinforcement demand of the structure is studied. The result shows that
structures designed for high to medium seismic hazard demands double the
reinforcement in beams compared to structures in low seismic zone
The management of women with ductal carcinoma in situ of the breast in Australia and New Zealand between 2007 and 2016
Background: The incidence of detected ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) continues to increase and now accounts for 14% of all breast cancer, and 20%–25% of screen-detected cases. Treatment trends of DCIS are important in order to inform the ongoing debate about possible overdiagnosis and overtreatment, but have not been investigated for over a decade in Australia and New Zealand. Against this background, we aimed to describe the temporal trends in management of DCIS in Australian and New Zealander women. Methods: Using the BreastSurgANZ Quality Audit (BQA) database, we conducted a descriptive study of the trends of management of DCIS in Australia and New Zealand from 2007 to 2016. We assessed the frequency of surgical treatments, adjuvant therapies, and axillary surgery conducted in women with pure DCIS. Results: There were 17 883 cases of pure DCIS in 2007–2016 in Australia and New Zealand recorded in the BQA database. The treatment patterns were consistent with no changes over time. The most common surgical treatment was breast-conserving surgery (66%), followed by mastectomy (37%), and 36% of women with DCIS received sentinel node biopsy (SNB). Conclusion: The clinical management of women diagnosed with DCIS in Australia and New Zealand, appears stable over time. A substantial proportion of women with DCIS receive SNB and this aspect of surgical care warrants further exploration to determine whether it represents appropriate care. These results, alongside the outcomes of the ongoing clinical trials on the management of DCIS, will help inform if any changes to best practice treatment are required.Sofia Omling, Nehmat Houssami, Kevin McGeechan, Sophia Zackrisson, Gemma Jacklyn, David Walters, Alexandra Barratt, and Rachel Farbe
