DTFH6114C00015This report is focused on predicting and quantifying curling and warping of jointed portland cement concrete pavements. Researchers used the comprehensive research-quality datasets available through the Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) program, supplemented by additional datasets collected by other Federal Highway Administration studies. The analyzed test sections are part of either the Specific Pavement Studies-2 or General Pavement Studies-3 LTPP experiments. Researchers assessed the impact of curl and warp on fluctuations of the International Roughness Index (IRI); generalized IRI and pseudostrain gradient (PSG) relationships to less-robust datasets (i.e., datasets typically available to State highway agencies); correlated PSG to environmental factors, falling weight deflectometer results, and measured roughness; and examined the implications of short- and long-term changes in IRI in the appearance of areas of localized roughness. Researchers also completed a literature review describing work on profile-based estimates of curl and warp and the influence of curl and warp on the IRI. Theoretical and analytical modeling showed that the original hypothesis of a direct relationship between PSG and IRI was valid, but that the assumption of a linear relationship was incorrect. Researchers proposed an alternative model that produced a high correlation between IRI and PSG on field data with diurnal and seasonal changes in curl and warp

Objectives:We planned this study and aimed to investigate the frequency of sarcopenia and the relationship between sarcopenia findings and Covid-19 disease severity in patients with Covid-19. Patients and Methods:As the study group, 92 patients aged 50 and over years old and whose PCR test results were positive and 45 days passed after the test result and recovered, 92 healthy individuals over 50 years of age, who were not infected with Covid-19, were included in the study group. Results:While 33.7% of the patient group had severe sarcopenia, 7.61% sarcopenia, 30.43% probable sarcopenia, 28.26% did not have sarcopenia. While 3.26% severe sarcopenia and 10.87% probable sarcopenia were observed in the control group, 85.87% sarcopenia was not observed. The incidence of sarcopenia in the error group was significantly higher than in the control group (p<0.001).When all participants were divided into 2 groups as 50-65 years old and over 65 years old, sarcopenia was observed at a rate of 32.65% in the 50-65 age group patient group, while sarcopenia was observed at a rate of 1.39% in the control group. While sarcopenia was observed, 10% of the control group had sarcopenia. Conclusion:The results obtained in this study indicate that the frequency of sarcopenia increases in patients who have the Covid-19 infection.</jats:p

Incidence of hypertension in Taura, Northern Nigeria: Lessons for our health care

No full text
Background: The control of hypertension is very important because it leads to incidence rats reductions for stroke, ischaemic heart disease and renal failure. It was the objective of this paper tc present experiences encountered in the management of hypertension in Taura health clinic with ar emphasis on drug therapy, as well as to draw lessons for the improvement of the health care system in Nigeria. Method: Case series Results: Nine patients with ages ranging from 26 to 75 years were examined over six month perioc: and all presented with hypertension. The continuous nature of treatment appeared to be an economic: burden on the patients which resulted in poor compliance. Conclusion: Healthcare planners should endeavour to give top priority towards the management oil hypertensive patients either under medication regimen or in any health facility, with the subsidizing, and cheap availability of their drug
