This research intends to evaluate the association between optimism and resilience and the influence of gender on Resilience and optimism among university students. For this goal following tools were used: Life Orientation Test- updated for Optimism and Brief Resilience Scale for resilience. A sample of 100 college-going kids was collected. Correlation and t-tests were the approaches employed for Data Analysis. Functionalization of Carbon Nanomaterial Surface by Doxorubicin and Antibodies to Tumor Markers
The actual task of oncology is effective treatment of cancer while causing a minimum harm to the patient. The appearance of polymer nanomaterials and technologies launched new applications and approaches of delivery and release of anticancer drugs. The goal of work was to test ultra dispersed diamonds (UDDs) and onion-like carbon (OLCs) as new vehicles for delivery of antitumor drug (doxorubicin (DOX)) and specific antibodies to tumor receptors. Stable compounds of UDDs and OLCs with DOX were obtained. As results of work, an effectiveness of functionalization was 2.94 % w/w for OLC-DOX and 2.98 % w/w for UDD-DOX. Also, there was demonstrated that UDD-DOX and OLC-DOX constructs had dose-dependent cytotoxic effect on tumor cells in the presence of trypsin. The survival of adenocarcinoma cells reduced from 52 to 28 % in case of incubation with the UDD-DOX in concentrations from 8.4–2.5 to 670–20 μg/ml and from 72 to 30 % after incubation with OLC-DOX. Simultaneously, antibodies to epidermal growth factor maintained 75 % of the functional activity and specificity after matrix-assisted pulsed laser evaporation deposition. Thus, the conclusion has been made about the prospects of selected new methods and approaches for creating an antitumor agent with capabilities targeted delivery of drugs
Improvement of Hamstring Flexibility: A Comparison between Two PNF Stretching Techniques
Objective: To determine the effectiveness of two PNF stretching techniques for improving hamstring flexibility and to compare the effectiveness of two PNF stretching techniques (Hold Relax and Contract Relax-Antagonist Contract) for improving hamstring flexibility. Subjects: 45 normal healthy male subjects. Design: A randomised pre-test post-test control group design. Method: The subjects were randomly assigned into three groups each consisting of 15 subjects. Hamstring flexibility for each group was measured using the active knee extension (AKE) test. Subjects of group A were treated with PNF hold relax stretching, whereas the subjects of group B were treated with PNF CRAC technique. The subjects of group C served as control group and were not subjected to any type of stretching. For each experimental group, stretch was performed three times a week for a total training period of three weeks. Results: A repeated-measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) and a Post HOC analysis using Bonferroni comparisons was used to determine and compare the effectiveness of two PNF stretching techniques at the end of 3 weeks of training protocol. The results demonstrated significant improvement in hamstring flexibility for subjects of group B when compared with those of group A (P = 0.03) at the end of three weeks, with improvement ranging from 0.50 to 15.66 degrees of active knee extension ROM at 95 % confidence interval. Conclusion: Both the techniques viz. PNF Hold Relax and PNF-CRAC are almost equal in their clinical effectiveness for improving hamstring flexibility and that either of the techniques may be used in clinical practice for improving hamstring flexibility
Preparation and characterization of floating gellan-chitosan polyelectrolyte complex beads
The objective of the present investigation was to evaluate the potential of gellan gum- low molecular weight chitosan (GG-LMCH) polyelectrolyte complex (PEC) in the form of beads as prolonged release stomach specific floating drug delivery system. PEC beads were prepared in one step, without using any chemical crosslinker, by dropwise addition of GG to a solution of LMCH in acetic acid. Buoyancy to the beads was attributed to the use of CaCO3 . The % buoyancy, encapsulation efficiency and drug release from PEC beads were compared with Ca++ crosslinked GG floating beads prepared under same conditions using rifabutin as model drug. Our finding showed that the PEC beads remained buoyant for up to 8 h and showed significantly better (p ++ crosslinked GG beads and, therefore, possess great potential for the stomach specific sustained delivery of drugs like rifabutin for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection.Colegio de Farmacéuticos de la Provincia de Buenos Aire
Cationic cyclodextrin/alginate chitosan nanoflowers as 5-fluorouracil drug delivery system
Cyclodextrins (CDs) have widely been used as component of drug delivery systems. However unmodified cyclodextrins are associated with cytotoxicity and poor water solubility thus limiting their use in pharmaceutical industry. The cationic-β-cyclodextrin (Cat-β-CD) polymer cores were synthesized using β-CD, epichlorohydrin and choline chloride via a one-step polycondensation process. The main aim of this study was to synthesize hierarchical nanoflowers composed of cationic-β-CD as polymeric core along with alginate and chitosan “petals” (Cat-β-CD/Alg-Chi nanoflowers) as carriers for oral delivery of 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) via an ionic-gelation technique. The drug loading capacity, particle size, zeta potential and surface morphology of the synthesized nanoflowers were determined. The prepared nanoflowers were formed with an average size of 300 nm and a zeta potential of + 9.90 mV with good encapsulation efficiency of up to 77.3%. In vitro release of 5-FU from the loaded nanoflowers showed controlled and sustained release compared to the inclusion complex alone. Cat-β-CD/Alg-Chi nanoflowers were assessed against L929 cells and found to be effectively inhibiting the growth of L929 cells in a concentration dependent manner

The Citizenship Amendment Act 2019: An Insight through Constitutional and Secularism Perspective
The primary endeavor of this paper is to illuminate the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 through the constitution and human rights jurisprudence perspective. In this paper, an attempt has been made to propose a different interpretation of the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 which not only infracts constitutional values but also legalized the hate against minorities, especially Muslims. India—as a nation state—has always cherished and remained concerned about its secular and democratic character. Since independence, India has maintained its global position as a responsible and humane society to protect minorities’ rights and social justice. Shockingly, the legislative development that had taken place in the recent past has questioned India’s commitment toward the certain principle of human rights, democratic values, and secularism which are the hallmark of the Constitution of India. The Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 has put religion as a pre-requisite qualification if someone is desirous to apply for Indian citizenship which is purely a violation of the basic ethos of the constitution. The idea of India as envisioned by the framers of the Indian constitution as a democratic, secular, and socialist state and anything that contrary to its basic structure is unconstitutional. The contentious legislation whether unconstitutional or not needs to be examined through the prism of constitutional law and fundamental norms of human rights. In this research exercise, a modest attempt is made to examine all merits and demerits of this antagonistic citizenship legislation. Throughout the paper, the effort has been given to sustain the notion that India cannot be a republic founded on discrimination, hate, and a pervasive sense of fear. </jats:p
Incidence of complications in patients of Plasmodium vivax malaria at a tertiary center in Northwest India
Background: Malaria is a protozoal disease caused by infection with parasites of Plasmodium species, such as P. vivax, P. falciparum, P. malariae, P. ovale and P. knowlesi through female Anopheles mosquito. Plasmodium vivax alone causes 60 to 65% of infections in India. The main objective of the study was to observe various complications in the patients affected with P. vivax malaria and to analyse the clinical, hematological and biochemical profile of these patients.Methods: A non-randomized prospective study was carried out on 170 patients with acute febrile illness admitted in the department of Medicine, SMS Hospital, Jaipur during period from October 2011 to September 2012 presented The infection was confirmed by detection of parasite (for P. vivax) in peripheral blood film by thick and thin slide methods and rapid diagnostic test (Optimal test).Results: Male preponderance was seen in the study. Death was noted in 5 (3%) patients. Thrombocytopenia (85%) was the most common finding observed. Level of serum creatinine was more than 1.5 mg/dl in 34.7% patients. Thirty-one patients (18.23%) had severe anaemia (Hb <6 gm/dl). Severe hypoglycemia was observed in 19 patients (<40-60 mg/dl). Acute renal failure was common comorbidity observed in majority of the patients. Mean LDH value was significantly higher in patients with hepatitis and anemia.Conclusions: The clinical pattern of P. vivax monoinfection has changed recently. Every patient of P. vivax malaria should be evaluated thoroughly for clinical or biochemical evidence of any complications and patients presenting with complications should managed as per guidelines of severe malaria.</jats:p
