Implementation of a Parental Notification System for the Improvement of Well-Child Care Delivery

This quality improvement project aimed to improve routine well-child exam rates in accordance with the American Academy of Pediatrics and Texas Health Steps recommendations through the implementation of a parental notification system. Missed well-child appointments impact health care by disturbing continuity of care and complicating preventive care services. Implementation of the parental notification system during June 2017 to August 2017 consisted of 100 patients from birth to 18 years of age for scheduled well-child visits in a pediatric clinic with a large Hispanic and Medicaid population. Interventions consisted of staff training, reminder phone calls 24 to 48 hours prior to the appointment, distribution of appointment reminder cards, follow-up on missed appointments, and a parental caregiver questionnaire. Overall, 88% received an appointment reminder with 65% having spoken directly to a staff member and 23% receiving a voicemail. The well-child completed rate was at 64% with a well-child no-show rate of 21%, a cancellation rate of 9%, a reschedule rate of 6% and a recall rate of 62%. The parental notification system was found to not have an effect on scheduled well-child delivery (p = .243), however well-child visits were more likely to be completed when a parent spoke directly to a clinical staff member versus voicemail (p = .004). The increase in the well-child cancellation and reschedule rates provided the clinic with opportunities to schedule additional appointments. Parents found the reminders to be helpful, would like to continue receiving them, and recommend them

The Development and Validation of an Aspirational Capital Scale Dissertation

As part of the cultural community wealth (CCW) framework, aspirational capital (AC) is one of six forms of non-dominant capital and defined as the “ability to maintain hopes and dreams for the future even in the face of barriers” (Yosso, 2005, p. 41). AC is theorized to help underrepresented and underserved students traverse through their education journeys despite education institutions praising dominant forms of capital such as middle- and professional cultural and social capital (Bañuelos, 2021; Claussen & Osborne, 2012; Yosso, 2005). While there is an abundance of qualitative research examining students AC, recent quantitative critical research examining the underlying structure of AC has encountered difficulty in effectively measuring the construct (Hiramori et al., 2021; Sablan, 2019). The purpose of this study was twofold: 1) to understand the dimensions and further build upon the theoretical structure of AC; and 2) to create a reliable and valid scale for community-based organizations (CBOs) to utilize for ongoing programmatic improvements to better the lives of underrepresented and underserved students. In developing the Aspirational Capital Scale (ACS), this study relied on the community cultural wealth (CCW) theoretical framework as well as Carpenter’s (2018) scale development process and included an expert panel review, cognitive interviews, a pilot scale, and a final administration of the ACS. The findings suggested the ACS measured four underlying factors: internal, social, family, and equity motivation. Additionally, the ACS demonstrated strong psychometric properties including high internal consistency reliability as well as content, construct, and convergent validity

El documento se estructura con forma de proyecto de actividadBachellor thesis focused on the optimization and enlargement of an existing equine livestock farm located in Saldise (Navarra, Spain). In the farm Burguete horses are raised. Firstly the regional market of colt and its breeding environment is studied. Also the farm itself is analysed, characterizing the grassland, cattle management systems and the way the meat is being commercialized. Inspired by the conclusions of these analysis and the specific requirements that the farm owner (and promoter of the Project) dictates about the project, a study of alternatives is elaborated. Certifying the farm as organic and selling half of the productions through short distribution channels make the business case profitable. The document is structured according to UNE 157001 and UNE 157601 rules. For planning the Project, the PMBOK© methodolody is used, making a work breakdown (WBS) structure, defining all the activities through the WBS dictionaryGraduado o Graduada en Ingeniería Agroalimentaria y del Medio Rural por la Universidad Pública de NavarraNekazaritzako Elikagaien eta Landa Ingurunearen Ingeniaritzan graduatua Nafarroako Unibertsitate Publikoa

    No full text
The daily production of the plant is 40.000 kg. First of all, the facility is studied (production technology, buildings, available facilities and cooling system). Based on this study and the particular requirements of Project stakeholders, production process capacity is increased to 60.000 kg of potatoe per day. Newest technologies are implemented on the production process throgh alternative analysis. Spacial distribution of production, personal and auxiliary areas are evaluated, discussed and studied by an alternative analysis. A new cooling system is designed. Also plumbing power installations are studied. A starch recovery unit is used as water pretreatment. The document structure follows what UNE 157001 standard dictates about proyects.Máster Universitario en Ingeniería Agronómica por la Universidad Pública de NavarraNekazaritza Ingeniaritzako Unibertsitate Masterra Nafarroako Unibertsitate Publikoa
