Instantaneous model of a MESFET for use in linear and nonlinear circuit simulations

A formal approach for nonlinear modeling of FETs is presented. The intrinsic transistor is described by current and charge generators, that are instantaneously dependent on the two internal voltages. The extrinsic parasitic elements are also included. This instantaneous model is obtained from the small signal equivalent circuit computed at a number of bias points, by integration of the bias dependent elements. A program for using this model in nonlinear circuit analysis has been developed. The process has been carried out for two transistors, one being of low noise, and the other a power MESFET. Good agreement has been observed when comparing the nonlinear analysis with measured data. A solid-state power amplifier at 28 GHz has been designed using the power transistor, delivering 21 dBm at 1 dB compression point.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

Based at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, the center provides a host of simulation and modeling tools and hardware research to support our national EW strategy. The Center also directly supports the Sensor Systems Engineering Curriculum and the Information Warfare curriculum at the Naval Postgraduate School. With 16 participating faculty and staff members and support from 16 sponsors, the CJSEW provides a wide variety of state-of-the-art research capabilities. Research areas include missiles and missile simulators, electronic surveillance systems, laser and radar cross section engineering, atmospheric modeling, RF propagation modeling, C2W mission planning, information warfare strategies, communications and radar jamming, shipboard self-protection systems, and high speed signal processing. Desde los dios 70 del siglo XX es una nota común en las Universidades de los Estados Unidos la creación y desarrollo de centros para la mejora de la docencia universitaria, respondiendo así a una necesidad sentida en las Universidades. Ponen a disposición del profesorado universitario toda una serie de cursos, materiales, asesoramiento, etc., para ayudarles a ir a más y a mejor en el conocimiento y práctica de la profesión docente. Se exponen en esta nota algunas de las experiencias recogidas en cuatro de estas Universidades: MIT (Massachusetts Instituto of Technology), Harvard University, Northeastern University y Stanford University con unas conclusiones finales

En este artículo, se indaga sobre los orígenes recientes y los temas clave de la educación para la ciudadanía democrática actual. Respecto al primer punto, se destaca la relevancia de la caída del Muro de Berlín (1989) y la crítica comunitarista al liberalismo. Además, se señalan algunos rasgos de la mentalidad postmoderna en la cultura contemporánea, especialmente las implicaciones antropológicas del liberalismo en educación. La primera parte concluye con una explicación de algunos de los problemas que sugieren el por qué de este resurgir de la educación cívica. Respecto a los temas clave, se destacan: la necesidad de un marco teórico; los programas de servicio; los distintos ámbitos de la e-ducación cívica y su interconexión; la conveniencia de un aprendizaje activo y comprensivo; la importancia de la vida de la escuela; el aprendizaje para la participación y la formación del profesorado, etc
